Age 78. Passed away peacefully at St. Clare's Hospital on Tuesday, May 20, 2003. Leaving to mourn, besides his Brothers in religion, his family: sisters: Eileen Pulcine, Arnprior; Sister Chrysostom, PVBM, Benoit's Cove; Sheila Walsh, Mt. Pearl; Joan Murphy (Kevin), Victoria, BC; brothers: Brother A.F. Brennan, C.F.C., Antigua; Gerald, San Mateo, California, brother-in-law Frank Abad; sister-in-law Bernice Brennan. Predeceased by parents William and Ellen, sisters: Mary English (Alex) and Betty Abad (Frank); brothers: John and Aloysius. Resting at Mount St. Francis Monastery, 4 Merrymeeting Road, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 9:30 from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Burial in Belvedere Cemetery.

BRODERS, Rosemary
Entered into eternal life from McAuley Convent, St. John's, NF on Sunday, November 11, 2001, Sister Rosemary Broders, RSM, aged 81 years. Leaving to mourn her Congregation the Sisters of Mercy; her sister Mary Sexton; brother Sylvester (Mary) Broders; brother-in-law Thomas Smith, all living in Ontario; and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Waking at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's, on Sunday, November 11th, 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Monday, November 12th until 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13th, 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish Church, Waterford Bridge Road, with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

CONWAY, Mary Placide
Entered into eternal life from McAuley Convent, St. John's, NF on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, Sister Mary Placide Conway, RSM, aged 90 years. Predeceased by her brother Bill; and her sisters Dolores and Kathleen; and sister-in-law Florrie. Leaving to mourn, besides the Sisters of Mercy, her brothers: Gerald (Sadie), St. John's, Tom, LaChine, Que.; sister Betty Norris (Abe), Cambridge, Ont.; sister-in-law Kay Conway, Cambridge, Ont.; brother-in-law Richard King, Hamilton, Ont.; several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews plus many friends. Waking at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's, on Wednesday Dec. 29th, 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 30th until 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial from Corpus Christi Parish Church, Waterford Bridge Road on Friday, Dec. 31 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

Passed peacefully away at McAuley Convent on Wednesday, March 17, 1999, Sister Mary Camillus Dunphy, formerly of Red Island, Placentia Bay, aged 100 years. Leaving to mourn her community, the Sisters of Mercy and many nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews of the extended Dunphy, McCarthy and Ryan families. Waking at McAuley Convent, Waterford Bridge Road on Wednesday, March 17th, 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 18th until 9:00 p.m. Eucharistic Liturgy of Christian Burial Friday, March 19, 1999 at 11:00 a.m., Corpus Christi Church, Waterford Bridge Road with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

FORAN, Bro Francis
Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, Thursday, 12 August, 1999, Br. Francis Raymond Foran, age 77. Predeceased by his parents, Francis and Caroline (Lamb); and by his sisters Mary and Grace. Leaving to mourn his loving niece Caroline (Kenneth) Martlew; and his community of Christian Brothers at Mount St. Francis, St. John's; as well as many relatives and friends. Reposing at Mount St. Francis, Merrymeeting Road, St. John's, Thursday 7-9; Friday 1-5, 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica Saturday at 9:30 followed by burial in Belvedere Cemetery.

GARLAND, Mary Dolores
Entered into eternal life from McAuley Convent, St. John's, Newfoundland on Saturday, April 29, 2000, Sister Mary Dolores Garland, RSM, aged 98 years. Leaving to mourn, besides the Sisters of Mercy, her sister Isabelle Serjeant of Toronto, Ontario, plus several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her sisters Annie Ivany, Joan Flynn Carter and most recently Mary Anne (Minn) Stoyles who passed away Thursday, April 27, 2000 in Wawa, Ontario. Waking at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's on Sunday, April 30 at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday, May 1 until 9:00 p.m. Also waking at McAuley Convent on Monday, May 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. her sister Mary Anne Stoyles. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for both at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 2nd at Corpus Christi Parish Church, Waterford Bridge Road with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

HAAS, Helen
Recluse Sister at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, NL on January 21, 2003 at the age of 90, Sister Helen-Mary Haas has returned to Our Father's House. Born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Sister Helen was a member of the teaching order of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota for 25 years before entering the contemplative Community of the Recluse Sisters in 1957. In 1989 Sister Helen arrived in Outer Cove, NL, where the Recluse Sisters had a Monastery until the year 2001. For the past three years, on account of her health, she lived at McAuley Convent tended by the Sisters of Mercy. She leaves to mourn her Sisters, Les Recluses Missionnaires from Quebec, her Sister Estella M. Falch from Wisconsin, the Sisters of Mercy of Newfoundland, her nieces Susan, Mary, Judy and Bonnie, her cousins Ed and Doug and many friends. Waking at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's, NL on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 23rd until 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish Church, Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's, NL with interment to follow in the Sisters of Mercy Plot at Belvedere Cemetery.

KAVANAGH, Marie Ricarda
Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on November 8, Sister Maria Ricarda Kavanagh, aged 63 years. Leaving to mourn, besides the Sisters of Mercy, five sisters: Meta Farrell (Joseph), Mary Hanrahan (Patrick), Adelaide Antle (Felix), Rose Tizzard (John), of St. John's, Eileen Livermore (George) Arizona; two brothers, John (Helen), Richard (Sheila) of St. John's; a number of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, other relatives and friends, special friends and co-workers at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare's. Resting at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road from 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9th. Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church on Thursday, November 11 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Belvedere Cemetery.

KENNEDY, Mary Kevin
Entered into eternal life from McAuley Convent, St. John's, Nfld. on Saturday, October 14, 2000, Sister Mary Kevin Kennedy, RSM, aged 92 years. Leaving to mourn, besides the Sisters of Mercy, her sister Mary Butler of Deer Lake, many devoted nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. Waking at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's, on Sunday, Oct. 15, 7-9 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 16 until 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Corpus Christi Parish Church, Waterford Bridge Road with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital July 31, 1998, in her 65th year. Leaving to mourn with loving memories her sisters, Mary of St. Patrick's Mercy Home; Nora Young (Karl), Stephenville; brothers William (Elizabeth), Corner Brook; Michael, Stephenville; John, Ontario, the Sisters of Mercy, and a large circle of friends. Resting at St. Patrick's Mercy Home. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 3 at 10:30 a.m., St. Patrick's Mercy Home. Interment at Belvedere Cemetery.

MORRISSEY, Rita
Passed peacefully away at McAuley Convent on Tuesday, January 14, 1997. Sister Rita Morrissey, aged 77. Leaving to mourn, besides the Sisters of Mercy, her sisters: Mary Prideau and Regina Wade; one brother, Joseph; also two sisters-in-law: Margaret and Irene; a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at McAuley Convent 250 Waterford Bridge Road from 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, Kilbride on Tuesday, January 16 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Belvedere Cemetery.

Entered into eternal life from the Palliative Care Unit, St. John's, NL on Wednesday, February 26, 2003, Sister Elizabeth O'Keefe, RSM, aged 67 years. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Susanna; her brother Harold and brother-in-law C. Chris Christy. Leaving to mourn her Congregation the Sisters of Mercy; her brother Pat (Ruby); her sisters: Laura Cardwell (Bob), Micki Christy, Bertha Aymond and Sharron Byrne (Otto); sister-in-law Beth (Frank Grant); uncle Albert O'Keefe (Molly); many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends. Resting at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's, on Thursday, February 27th, 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday, February 28th until 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1st, 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish Church, Waterford Bridge Road with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit or St. Bonaventure's College.

Waking at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's, on Monday, September 23, 7- 9 p.m. and Tuesday, September 24 until 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 25, 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish Church, Waterford Bridge Road, with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.
