George Freake of Wesleyville, aged 71 years. Predeceased by
his parents, Jessie and Malcolm and stepfather, Maxwell Pike. Left

Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial
Hospital, Gander on September 4, 2008. Predeceased
by parents, Gilbert and Mary Jane, sisters, Mamie and Lizzie (Normore),
brother, Eliol, niece, Anita Chipman and great niece, Sandy Hunter.
Leaving to mourn sister, Lily Hunter, St. John's; brother, Fred (Mary)
and sister-in-law, Evelyn, Salvage; nieces, Sandra Hardy, St. John's,
Juanita Sheppard, Edmonton, Phyllis (Dave) Janes, CBS, Bernice (Tom)
Hallett, Eastport,; nephews, Rex (Dorothy) Hunter, CBS, Gilbert (Judy)
Heffern, Brooklin, ON; along with great and great-great nieces and
nephews who all had a special place in her heart. Barbara was born
at Wild Cove (Salvage), the youngest of a family of six, and obtain
her Grade 11 diploma in just nine years from St. Stephen's School in
Salvage. She taught school in nine communities through the province
prior to joining the staff of Holy Trinity Central High in Normans
Cove in 1964 where she remained for 18 years, the last 11 as Vice Principal.
Upon retirement in 1983, she returned to Salvage to run her general
store and play an active community role as Mayor, Lay Reader and a
member of the EastPen Players and the Eastport Peninsula Heritage Society.
Funeral services were held at St. Stephen's Church, Salvage on September
7, 2008 with interment at St. Stephen's Anglican Cemetery. Her family
would like to thank Bishop Edward March, Reverend Paul Thoms, JPMS
staff, Squire's Funeral Home, St. Stephen's and Holy Cross (Eastport)
Church Choirs, St. Stephen's ACW, Majorie Hiscock (Organist), the EastPen
Players, pall bearers and all others who helped in any way ease the

It is with great sadness that the family
of Aidan Turner announces his passing on September
13, 2008. Aidan was born on August 20, 1946. He is predeceased
by his parents, Gregory and Josephine Turner; brothers, Edward and Brian,
and sister, Eileen McCurdy. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, sons,
Sean and Aidan (Angela); grandchildren, Kelsey, Rebecca and Benjamin;

It is with great sadness that
the family announce the sudden unexpected passing of a loving mother,
wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt and friend to many. Diana
C. Bemister, affectionately named Lady Di, who passed away on Wednesday,
September 17, 2008 at Brampton, Ontario, aged 28 years of Musgrave
Harbour. Predeceased by her grandfather, Bert Pinsent. Diana was loved
by many and she in turn loved them. She constantly cared for her family
and had a great love of nature. Her loving husband, Danny and precious

fond and loving memories are her children, William (Linda) Young, Fred
(Rose) Young, Max (Debbie) Young, Fintain Young, Ida (Ames) Coates and
Ninea Young who resided with her mother; grandchildren, Dean, Terri,
Lynn, Duane, Billie, Jason, Julia, Beverly, Steven, Denna, Ian, Nika,
Tanya, Joshua and Jessica; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nina Hinphey,
Ivy (Wallace) Harvey and Fannie (Joe) Angel; brothers, Garfield and Dave
(Marion); sisters-in-law, Mollie West, Sadie Young and Mercedes Simmons;
brother-in-law, Dave Young; her special niece, Zeta Hulan and a special
friend, Carmel Reid; also left to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews
and other relatives and friends. Mother was predeceased by her daughter,
Rose Mary; brother, Edward West; sisters, Daisey Head and Neta Pinsen;
her parents, William and Ida West and her sisters-in-law, Mertice West
and Lillian McIsaac. Cremation has taken place. The family received family
and friends from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, October
1, 2008 from Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel 63 Noth Main Street, Deer
Lake. The funeral mass of Christian Burial took place from the Immaculate
Conception Roman Catholic Church in Deer Lake on Thursday, October 2,
2008 at 11 a.m. with Father Aidan Devine officiating, the burial of mothers
remains will follow at private family service at a later date. Flowers
and or donations to the Daffidol House would be gratefully appreciated.
