FREAKE, Herbert M. -
Passed peacefully away on September 4, 2003 at the Health Science Centre in St. John's, Herbert M. Freake of Birchy Bay in his 64th year. Predeceased by his father, Simon; mother, Alice; one brother, Roy; three sisters, Gertrude, Emma and Winnifred. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Margaret of 43 years; daughters, Monica (Shawn Wiseman) of Gander and Charmaine (Jason Eveleigh) of St. John's; son, Morley (Brenda) of Lewisporte; sisters, Phyllis (Gerald Pitcher) Foxtrap and Bernice (Baxter Burt) of Birchy Bay; brothers, Rex (Danette) of Lewisporte, Fred (Barbara) of Lewisporte and Dawson (Roxanne) of Lewisporte; grandchildren, Andrea and Ashton Freake, Hannah and Halle Wiseman; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on September 7th at the Pentecostal Church in Birchy Bay with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Birchy Bay. In his memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home (1987) Ltd., Clarenville.

ABBOTT, Norman L. -
Passed peacefully away on September 6, 2003 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Norman L. Abbott of Musgrave Harbour in his 73rd year. Predeceased by his wife, Audrey; parents, Fred and May Abbott; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Keats. Left with fond and loving memories are four sons, John (Pauline) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Ralph (Noreen) of Bonavista, Dennis (Sarah-Jane) of Glace Bay, NS and Paul (Janet) of Clarenville; two daughters, Donna Carpenter (Jack) of Catalina and Sandra McMullen (Rene) of Ottawa, Ont; one sister, Marguerite Abbott (Norman) of Musgrave Harbor; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Aggie Keats of Bonavista; five nieces; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on September 9th at St. Luke's United Church in Musgrave Harbor. Interment at St. Luke's United Church Cemetery in Musgrave Harbor. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Luke's United Church or to the Musgrave Harbor Lion's Club. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbor-Pound Cove.

GRANTER, Job -
Passed peacefully away on September 7, 2003 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, Job Granter, age 80 years. Predeceased by his wife Myrtle; brother, Marshall and sister, Marjorie Coward. Left with fond and loving memories are his sons, Glenn (Edith) of Rocky Harbor, Bill (Pat) of Claremont, New Hampshire, USA, John (Sandra) of Greenspond; daughters, Ada Kelloway (Sam) of St. John's, Jean Shearer of Calgary, Alberta, Joan McFadden (Wayne) of Rochester, New Hampshire, USA; brothers, Scott of Nova Scotia, Harvey of St. John's, sisters, Beulah (Henry) of Buchans, Bernice (Leo) of Labrador City; brother-in-law, Clifton Blackwood of Otterbury Manor, Wesleyville; sister-in-law, Annie Granter of Greenspond; 11 grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on September 10 at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Greenspond with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Greenspond. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Stephen's Anglican Church Building Fund. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home Limited, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

CUFF, Pearl -
Passed away on September 12, 2003 at Brookfield Hospital, Mrs. Pearl Cuff of Musgrave Harbor in her 87th year. Predeceased by her husband, Earl; parents, Majors Joseph and Alice Anthony; brothers, Frank and Major Alec Anthony; sisters, Maisie Stanford, Ella Anthony and Phoebe Anthony; and special brother-in-law, Gordon Peddle. Left with fond and loving memories are her son, Wayne (Karen) of Musgrave Harbor; one sister, Beatrix Peddle of Musgravetown; six grandchildren; Sylvia Hicks of Iqaluit, NU, Sheldon (Linda) of Ottawa, Lynda Cuff of Ottawa, Sean Labrie (Banti) of Toronto, Moika Labrie of Montreal and Danielle Labrie of Toronto; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Benjamin and Allison; one brother-in-law, Clayton Cuff (Jean) of Musgrave Harbor; two sisters-in-law, Major Fern Anthony of Bay Roberts and Pam Anthony of Cornwall, England; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on September 15th at the Salvation Army citadel in Musgrave Harbor. Interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Musgrave Harbor. Donations in her memory may be made to Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbor-Pound Cove.

CROSS, William James -
Passed peacefully away on September 17, 2003 at Brookfield Hospital, William James Cross of Badger's Quay, age 79 years. Predeceased by his parents, Eli and Sophie Cross; sisters, Blanche, Katherine and Mary; brothers, John Roland, Eli Hayward, and Bruce. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Aletha; brother, George (Joan) of Badger's Quay; sister, Margaret Carter (Claude) of Badger's Quay; brother-in-law, Eldon Stratton of Badger's Quay; sister-in-law, Rhoda Cross of Badger's Quay; special friend, Grace Sheppard of Badger's Quay; several nieces, nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on September 19th at St. Alban's Anglican Church, Badger's Quay with Rev. John Watton officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Badger's Quay. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbor.

GINGELL, John Arthur -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on September 22nd, 2003 John A. Gingell in his 80th year. Pre-deceased by first wife Dorothy, brother Bob and parents Tom & Gertrude Gingell. Left with loving memories are wife Ruth, step-sons Dennis (Debbie) Mills of Gander, Ronald (Ruth) Mills of Gander, brothers Hank (Linda)Gingell of Windsor, Ont., Bill (Joyce) Gingell of L.A., Step Grandchildren Beverley (Hugo), Kenneth (Sherrie), Rebecca. Also a large circle of nieces , nephews, relatives and friends.

DWYER, Gregory -
Passed peacefully away at the Janeway Children's Hospital, St. John's, Gregory Dwyer, aged 16 years. Predeceased by grandfathers, Gregory Dwyer 1978 and Henry Pearce 1978, and uncle Joseph Dwyer 1999. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are parents, Greg and Catherine Dwyer, sisters, Sherry-Lynn and Laura-Ann, nephew, Brandon Rogers, niece, Shantel-Lynn Dwyer, all of Gander, grandmothers, Mary A. Dwyer of Gander and Rita Pearce of Boyd's Cove, 9 aunts and uncles on Dwyer side of family, 15 aunts and uncles on Pearce side of family, also a large number of relatives and friends. Donations in Greg's memory can be made to the Janeway Children's Hospital or to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada.

TURNER, Annie Julia -
Passed peacefully away on Monday, September 29, 2003 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Annie J. Turner of Happy Adventure, age 79 years. Predeceased by husband, Thomas (Ches) Turner and daughter-in-law, Geraldine Turner. Left to mourn and cherish her memory are daughter, Patricia Allen (Frazer) of Curling; sons, Alf (Judy) of St. John's, Jake (Gail) of Gander, Carl (Julie) of Happy Adventure; daughter, Michele Babstock (Kim) of Happy Adventure; grandchildren, Tracy (Barry), Kent (Jennie), Jeff, Krista (Michael), Andrea, Melanie, Joanne, Chris, Courtney, Luke, Heather, Andrew; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Matthew, Georgie, Kendra; brother, Alister; sister, Lurley; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Holy Cross Church. She was laid to rest in the Anglican Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Holy Cross Cemetery Fund.
