HENDER, Leander - September 14, 1925 - November 1, 2011)
Leander Thomas Hender
was born on September 14th, 1925 to Thomas and Annie Hender of White Bay. He worked in the Woods and Sawmill business. He met and married Clementine Holloway and they were married for 68 years. Together they had 5 daughters and 2 sons; Elizabeth (Eugene) Coles, Frances (Larry) Walsh, Ada (Howard) Butt, Lily (Milton) Goulding, Beverly, Henry (Audrey) and Willie (Dianne). 14 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren. The Funeral Service was held at The Salvation Army Citadel in Gambo, at 2 PM on Thursday November 3rd. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Gambo. TILLER, Mathilda -
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Matilda Vera Tiller, age 80 years of Wesleyville announce her sudden passing at Brookfield Hospital on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Tillie, as she was fondly known was born at Cape Island on June 2, 1931 to the late Barbara and Eugene Vincent. She is predeceased by her husband Ishmael Tiller; son James(Jim); granddaughter Chawnte¢ Howell; brothers Job Vincent and Harold Vincent; sister May Stokes. Tillie leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Wanda (Claude Howell) of St. John's, Tara (Scott Curtis) of St. John's and Faith (Peter Robbins) of St. John's; daughter-in-law Doreen Tiller of Mackenzie, BC.; brother Solomon Vincent (Marie) of Wesleyville; sister Stella Stagg (Oswald deceased) of Wesleyville. She was a loving grandmother to Jeffrey Howell, Brandon Tiller, Jamie Moses, Angela Guise, Tonia Robbins, Rebecca Robbins, Meegan Robbins and Jim Robbins. A very special great-grandmother to Emily Moses, Jorja Moses, Reegan Guise and Simon Guise. She also leaves to mourn a large circle of other relatives and many friends. Funeral service took place at Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville on Friday, November 4, 2011 with Rev. Brian Hannon officiating. Inurnment followed at The United Cemetery, Wesleyville. Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Sunday, November 6, 2011, Stanley Chaulk, age 83 years of Deadman's Bay. Predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Christina Chaulk; son Elvis; grandson Philip Howell; brothers George, Richard, Lewis, Jesse and Cecil; sisters Jane, Ida and Josie. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Kathleen; sons Austin (Daphne) of St. John's, Marvin (Patsy) of Deadman's Bay and Jamie (Dawn) of Winnipeg, MB.; daughters Louise Windsor (Barry deceased) of St. John's and Edith Howell (Lloyd) of Labrador City; sisters Violet Vincent (Lester deceased) of Newtown and Ada Russell (Frank) of Ontario; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at St. Andrew's United Church, Deadman's Bay on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 with Mrs. Bernice Smithline CSM officiating. COLLINS, Darryl -
Passed away suddenly after a tragic accident at Surmont Sand and Gravel, Alberta on Monday, November 7, 2011 Darrell Collins, age 31. Predeceased by his sister Daphne, grandparents Willis and Lucretia Gillingham, Abraham and Rebecca Collins. Left to mourn with loving memories are his parents Lorne and Linda (nee-Gillingham) Collins, brother Craig (Kelly Gilbert) of Corner Brook, niece's Katie and Faith, nephew Lukas and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at the Salvation Army Citadel, Carmanville Funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 15th from the United Church, Carmanville. Even though Darrell didn't have any children of his own he loved children, he loved to have fun with them and he certainly loved to tease them. Especially his niece Katie who had a special place in his heart. Darrell enjoyed the outdoors very much, he took great pride in his skidoo, motorcycle, and truck. He would look forward to coming home in the winter months to do some ski-dooing. Even as a child, Darrell was known to be a hard little worker and this continued for the remainder of his life. GUPPY, Mathilda -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander on Sunday, November 13, 2011, Matilda Blanche (Bishop) Guppy at the age of 97. Predeceased by her husband Gus Bishop (1977) and husband James Guppy (1998) and her daughter Evelyn Bishop (1994). Leaving to mourn son Lorne Bishop of Corner Brook, daughter Sylvia Newhook (Robert) of St. John's, stepdaughter Karen Abbott (Karl), stepson Bill Guppy (Lorna); grandchildren Jennifer Elaan, Andrew Bishop, Rachael Bishop, Cathy Santuccione (Dan), Heather Newhook (Mark Bennett), Charles Newhook (Kelli Hynes), Kerry Lawrence (Troy Arseneault), Tracy Lawrence (Fergus Murphy), Stephanie Jenkinson (Jon), Mark Abbott, Suzanne Abbott, Lynn Guppy; great grandchildren Jada Santuccione, Andrew and Christina Bennett, Connor and Emily Jenkinson, and Quinton and Donovan Arseneault ; special friends Kerry Harris, Daphne Lawrence and Barbara Whittle as well as a wide circle of family & friends. Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home in Gander. Funeral service was held from St. Martins Anglican Church in Gander on Wednesday, November 16 at 11:00 A.M. GOULDING, Florrie -
The family of Florrie Greta Goulding are saddened to announce the death of their mother on November 13, 2011. Florrie passed away in palliative care at Lakeside Homes. She was 92 years old. Florrie was the youngest daughter of John and Susanna (Norman) Lush. She was predeceased by her brothers, Albert and Stanley, and sisters, Maude and Annie. Her husband, Roland Norman Goulding, died in 1996. She was also predeceased by her sons Carl (1954) and Eric (2008) and grandsons Noel (1971) and Carl (2006) and son-in-law, Aubrey Kelloway. Florrie leaves to celebrate her life nine children: Maude Kelloway, Doreen (Max) Ryan, Ray (Linda), Marjorie (Winston) Carter, June (Tony) Hunt, Lorne (Brenda), Janice (Doug) Lush, Cheryl (Cam) Kelly, and Alvin; daughter-in- law, Bonnie; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great, great- grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were assigned to Stacey's Funeral Home, 60 Roe Avenue, Gander. Funeral services was held in the Salvation Army Citadel in Gambo on Wednesday at 2:00 pm. Internment to follow in the Salvation Army Cemetery in Gambo. Donations in Florrie's memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. RAYMOND, Olive Evelyn Eileen -
Passed away peacefully on November 17, 2011, age 88 years. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Sophia Belle (Bennett) Milley, stepmother Maud (Gill) Milley, husband William (Bill) Raymond, brother Frank Milley, sisters Joan Rodriguez and Ethel Watzec and son-in-law, Alex Geange. Leaving to mourn are sister Eileen (Peter) Irish, brother Albert (Verna) Milley, as well as sister-in-law and cousin, respectively, Marg and Don Milley. Eileen will also be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by daughters Brenda Geange of St. John's, Jean (Bill) Peckford of Elmsdale, NS; sons Jack of St. John's, and Ken (Ann) of Appleton. Nan will be sadly missed by precious grandchildren Natalie Falk, Kimberley (Gord) MacKinnon, Ken (Gloria) Geange, Doug (Heather) Geange, Amy (Anthony) Murray, Tiffany (Chris) Percey, and a large circle of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. Born in Halifax, Eileen grew up in Badger and on Exploits Island. At 19, she was courted, serenaded and won over by the love of her life, Bill Raymond of Catalina. After their marriage in 1943, she went on to live in Fogo and later Gander to raise her family. A kind, compassionate and selfless woman who saw good in every person she met, she was happiest when surrounded by family, close friends and especially children. Her kitchen was her castle and she gleaned much satisfaction from cooking and sharing delicious meals and home-baked sweets with the many who came through her door. She had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to share a story and her infectious laugh. She loved the simple things in life and together with Bill, passed on her love of camping, nature and the outdoors to her entire family. A Celebration of Life in Eileen's honour was held at St. Martin's Anglican Cathedral on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2pm. Cremation taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate any donations in Eileen's memory to be made to the Cancer Clinic at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander.

WEST, Myrtis -
Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Friday, November 18, 2011, Myrtis West, age 88 years of Lumsden. Predeceased by her parents Cater and Bertha Stokes; husband Everett; daughter Emma Chaulk; granddaughters Tanya and Wanda Kean; son-in-law Hubert Kean; sisters Lena Pickett, Eliza Rideout and Flossie Stokes; brother Charlie Stokes. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son Curtis(Deanne) of Lumsden; daughters Margaret Kean of Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, Marjorie Hiscock(George) of Gander and Joyce West of Lumsden; son-in-law Jack Chaulk of Lumsden; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Monday, November 21, 2011 with Rev. Lorne Bungay officiating. Interment followed at The United Church Cemetery, Lumsden. Donations in her memory may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove - Musgrave Harbour.

HICKS, Weldon -
Passed peacefully away the James Paton Memorial Heath Center, Gander on November 27, 2011 Weldon Hicks, age 73 years. Predeceased by his parents Tobias and Millie Hicks, Great grandson Macon Myles, brother Maxwell, sister Marion Bride. Left with loving memories are his wife Olga, son Terry (Debbie) of Gander, daughter Christine of Gander, grandchildren Jeffrey, Kimberly, Andrew and Joanne, great grandchildren Victor and Isaac. Also a large circle of family and friends. Funeral Service was held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. from the Salvation Army Church, Musgrave Harbour. Interment Salvation Army Cemetery.
