JACKSON, Wycliffe Charles -
Wycliffe Charles Jackson
, born to Jessie and Sylvester (deceased) in Dover, passed away peacefully after succumbing to a battle with brain cancer on May 1, 2009. Wycliffe is survived by his sons, Russell (Gina), Todd, and their mother, Karen; granddaughter, Hannah; fiancée, Massie; and his loving mother, Jessie. A huge gap has been created within the Jackson family, as he will be sadly missed by his three brothers, Junior (Rowena), Wallace (Cynthia), Dion (Lisa); his five sisters, Rita (Eugene), Bonnie (Llewellyn), Georgina (Jacob), Marilyn (Jerry), Wanda (Wayne); and his many nieces and nephews. He was a devoted father, proud grandfather, a loving son and brother. Wycliffe was laid to rest on May 4th at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Lockyer's Bay, Dover, NL.

NIPPARD, Bradley Damian -
Bradley was born in Gander on Nov. 17, 1992. He passed away May 3, 2009, at Davidsville. Predeceased by his father, Calvin Hodder; grandparents, Simon (Rowena) Hodder; and aunt, Linda Nippard. Left with loving memories are his mother, Diane Nippard; stepfather, Isaac Whitt; brothers, Darren and Cory; grandparents, Calvin (Fanny) Nippard; aunts and uncles, Roy (Mona) Nippard, Robert (Joan) Nippard, Calvin (Viola) Brett, Judy (Peter) Coates, Florence (Paul) Dyke, Sherry Nippard, Herbert (Ida) Hodder, Clayton (Beulah) Hodder; cousins, Leanne, Amanda, Conrad, Mark, Mitchell, Michelle, Micheal, Colin, Melanie Crystal, Amy, Christina, Zachary, Dylan, Baby Madison, Darlene, Delmon, Rowena, Robert and Ryan. Special friends Kyle and Richard. Also, a large circle of relatives and friends. Bradley touched so many people in the short time he was with us. He will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Funeral service was held Thursday May 7, 2009, from the Anglican Church, Davidsville. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery. JEWER, Hilda -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on May 6, 2009, Hilda Jewer, age 80. Predeceased by parents, Isabelle and Garland Payne. Left with loving memories are her husband, Donald; son, Lee (Jean) of Ottawa, ON; daughter, Ruth (Larry) LeDrew of St. Phillip's, NL; brothers, Edgar (Jenny), and Oscar, both of Parsons Pond, NL; grandchildren, Robyn LeDrew, Scott Jewer, and Dana Jewer Tishenko; and great-granddaughter, Sarina Tishenko. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2 a.m., from St. Martin's Anglican Cathedral, Gander. Internment, All Saints Cemetery. HANN, Evelyn Ruth -
Passed peacefully away at her residence in Wesleyville on May 12, 2009, Evelyn Ruth Hann (nee Porter), formerly of Elliston, Trinity Bay, aged 94 years and three months. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; parents, Garland and Jessie (Trask) Porter; brother, Roger Porter; and son-in-law, Thomas Grandy. Left with fond memories are her son, Barrie Hann (Maureen) of Wesleyville; and daughters, Patricia Grandy (Thomas) of Ottawa and Carole Hefferton (Paul) of Valleyfield; sisters-in-law, Leah Porter of Tucson, Ariz. and Patricia Bothwell of Smiths Falls, ON; and brother-in-law, Herbert Hann of Sidney, BC; grandchildren, Bonnie Grandy, Alan Grandy (Jennifer), Bryan Hann (Ada), Cindy Perry (Carl), Stephen Hann, Deborah Hann (Rene Pickett), Jennifer Vaters (Darrell Jr.), David Hefferton and Daniel Hefferton; and great-grandchildren, Julianne and Carolyn Schuts, Reese and Rowan Grandy, Christopher Hann, Sarah Knee (Patrick), Andrew, Kalissta, Daniel, Meghin and Joshua Perry, Alexander and Brandon Hefferton, and Chelsee Pickett; and some very dear friends. TUCKER (GOUDIE) R.N., Netta L. -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on May 12, 2009, Netta Tucker, age 72 years. Predeceased by her parents, Carl and Dorothy Goudie, brothers, Guy, Terry and David. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Norman; sons, Glen (Karen) of Newmarket, Ont., and Gregory (Natalie) of Gander; daughter, Gillian (Jerry) Collins of Gander; brothers, Carl (Ruth) Goudie of Deer Lake, and Wayne (Lori) Goudie of Kippens; grandchildren, Laura, Allison, Sarah, Grace, Max, Hailey, and Cody. VAN KESTEREN, Arend (Art) -
Passed peacefully away after a brief illness on May 15, 2009, in the presence of his wife at the Coronary Care Unit of the HSC, age 84 years. Predeceased by his eldest son, Arend Paul in 1978; his two brothers; and one sister. Art was the beloved husband of Shirley for 58 years, dear father of Rein and Andre (Mary Rose), and cherished Opa of Amanda. Also leaving to mourn with fond memories are his sister, Elly Apon-van Kesteren (The Hague, Netherlands); nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Art was born in Voorburg, Netherlands, and was certified as a Registered Professional Engineer in The Hague. He came to Gander, NL, in 1947 to work as an aircraft maintenance supervisor with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. In 1963, Art became principal of the District Vocational School in Gander, and in 1970 he began work with the Department of Education in St. John's, and was Director of Technical and Vocational Education for Newfoundland when he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Gander Masonic Lodge (#16 A.F. & A.M.) for over 50 years. Art was proud of his heritage, but always said he was a Newfoundlander by choice. He loved genealogy and nature, and he spent many happy hours salmon fishing on the Gander River. Cremation has taken place. Service was held at Barrett's Chapel, and interment was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. To honour his memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. GOODYEAR, Gordon -
Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes in Gander on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, Gordon Goodyear of Carmanville in his 86th year. Predeceased by his wife, Stella Mary Louise; sister, Emma; and parents, Lewis and Julia Goodyear. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his four sons, Boyd (Valery) of St. John's, David (Linda) of Carmanville, Ted (Betty) of Carmanville, and Bradley (Angela) of Calgary, Alta.; two daughters, Glenda Burry (Eric) of Bloomfield, and Hazel Collins (Larry) of St. John's; one sister, Alice Cook of Newtown; 16 grandchildren, Janna, Aishling, Christin, Brandon, Susanne, Darren, Daniel, John, Jamie, Josh, Jason, Damien, Nathan, Jennifer, Arisha, and Lukas; six great-grandchildren, Alana, Nicholas, Lauren, Rebecca, Ethan, and Cassidy; and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Friday, May 22nd from the United Church in Carmanville. Interment followed from the United Church Cemetery in Carmanville, with Rev. Chris Andrews officiating. BOURNE, Cynthia -
Passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on Saturday, May 23, 2009, Cynthia Lovelle Bourne, age 45. Predeceased by her father, Leonard Smith. Left to mourn with loving memories are her husband, Paul; son, Brandon; mother, Fannie; brothers, Eric of Norman Wells, N.W.T., and John (Rosalie) of Yellowknife, N.W.T.; sisters, Jean (Scott) Goobie of Queen's Cove, NL, Debbie (Roy) Hynes of Twillingate, NL, and Thelma (Ken) O'Brien of Grand Prairie, Alta.; nephews, Tim Smith, Gregory Goobie, and Patrick O'Brien; nieces, Lynette Smith and Nikkie Goobie; as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, St. John's, on May 23, 2009, Harry Burry Blackwood, age 59 years, of Brookfield. Predeceased by his parents, Llewellyn and Josephine Blackwood; and brother, Raymond. Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Saturday, May 23, 2009, Jacob Cutler, age 93 years of Indian Bay. Predeceased by his wife, Rita Mary Cutler. Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on May 24, 2009, Geraldine (Gerry) Dionne, age 66 years. Predeceased by parents, John and Eliza Strong; sisters, Ethel Carter, Hazel Jarrell; and brother, James Strong. Left with loving memories are her husband, Richard Dionne; John (Sara) of Tampa, FL; Kristy (Kenny) Yorston of Holderness, NH.; sisters, Evangeline (Earl) Snelgrove of St. John's, Jean Burden of Clarenville, Phyllis (Obadiah) Burt of Stephenville, and Rhoda (Ronald) Bartlett of Hamilton, Ont.; grandchildren, Charlie and Jack Dionne, and Kacey Yorston; and also, a large circle of relatives and friends. Gerry was a devoted daughter, a beloved sister, a caring nurse, a loving wife and mother, a doting grandmother, and faithful friend. Her arms and her kitchen were always open, her selfless heart ever expanding with love. Ne'er a more smitten and adoring Nan did exist. Her passing leaves a chasm in the hearts and lives of all who loved her, who shared her laughter and her life. A void that can only be filled with the treasured memories of a life so lovingly lived. Passed peacefully away at JPMH on May 25, 2009 at the age of 77, Ronald Ayles of Glovertown. He leaves to mourn his wife, Peggy; son, Jamie (Amanda); daughter, Alisa (Greg); and four grandchildren, Zachary, Melissa, Jesse and Sara. Also leaving a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral service was held at Faith United Church May 27, 2009, with Rev. Paul Vardy officiating. Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on May 26, 2009, with his wife and daughter by his side, Jacques (Jack) Favreau, age 92 years. Predeceased by his parents, Victor and Bertha Favreau; sister, Claire Lafond; brothers, Rene, Paul, Andre, Anthony, Leon, Pierre, and Jean. Beloved husband of Carrie; loving father to his daughter, Denise (Real) of St. Lazare, Que.; and a wonderful poppy to his grandsons, Zachary and Joshua. Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on May 30, 2009, Shirley Duff, age 74. Predeceased by parents, Herbert and Ethel Pike; husband, Robert Duff; and brother, Melvin Pike.
