Passed peacefully away on May 1, 2008 at Brookfield Hospital, Zacchaeus
Roland Rogers, age 74 years of Trinity, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased
by his mother, Rachel; stepfather, Edwin Feltham and father, Albert Rogers.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Rachel; sons, Frank

Passed peacefully away on May 3, 2008 at St. Patrick's
Mercy home, Alphonsus
Turner of St. Brendan's, Bonavista Bay in his 84th year. He
was predeceased by wife, Margaret (nee Brown), parents, William and
Martina; brothers, Louis, Abraham, Dennis and sisters, Nellie (Mackey),
Kathleen (Broderick, Ann (Ricketts), Mary (Canning) and Margaret (Ricketts).
Left to mourn sister-law, Mary Ann Turner of Buchans, one special cousin,
Mary Ann Hogan in Toronto; thirty-six nieces and nephews, and a large
circle of relatives and friends. The family acknowledges with deep
appreciation the care that was given for three years by the staff of
Baywatch Manor in Glovertown and in recent months by the staff of James
Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander; the Health Science Complex, Hoyles
Escasoni, and St. Patrick's Mercy Homes in St. John's. Funeral mass
took place Tuesday, May 6 th from St. Gabriel's Church, St. Brendan's,

77 years of age. Predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Gladys Stokes;

SHEPPARD, Stella (Bennett) –
Passed peacefully away on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at
the Extendicare Van Daele Nursing Home at the age of 78 years, Stella
Sheppard (Bennett).
Daughter of the late Bert and Clarina Bennet of Fogo, NL; beloved wife
of John (Jack) Sheppard for 48 years; loving mother of Russell, Raymond
(Sherry) and Kelly Thomas (Rob); special grandma to Emily, Tristan
and Blair; sister of Audrey Baker (Vic) of Barrie, ON. Stella will
be fondly remember by her many nieces; nephews, family and friends
in Newfoundland and Ontario. Fiends called at the Arthur Funeral Home
and Cremation Centre ( 492 Wellington Street, East, Sault Ste. Marie,
ON on May 13th. A funeral service was held at Holy Trinity
Church on May 14th– Rev. Stephen Blackmore officiated. Interment Greenwood

WILCOX, Leslie –
Passed peacefully on May 29, 2008 to join his wife,
Janet, at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander. Les, aged 89 years,
a Gander pioneer. Left to celebrate his long and blessed life is daughter,
Muriel (Herb Moorcroft) of Gander; granddaughter, Lesley Ann (Dwayne
Andrews) of Sydney, NS; great-grandson, David Andrews; granddaughter,
Kelly (Scott Richardson) of Ottawa, ON; great-grandson, Ian Richardson
and great-granddaughter, Meredith Richardson. There is also left son,
Fred (Sandra) of St. John's; granddaughter, Allison (Doug Johnson) of
Burnaby, BC; three week old great-granddaughter, Alexandra Johnson; granddaughter,
Catherine of Vancouver, BC; and only grandson, John of Bonnyville, AL.
One brother, Ralph (Louise) of Halifax, NS, also remains as well as special
cousin, Eileen Elms (Lorne) and special niece, Lynn Hammond (Pat) of
Gander, NL; and a large circle of other family and dear friends and acquaintances.
Les is a WW2 veteran (#970875) having served in the 59th Royal Artillery;
a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 8, having joined
with the Trinity South branch post service and also the Great War Veteran's
Association; and contributed for many years (including chaired) the
Legion Sponsoring Committee of 537 Air Cadet Squadron. Les enjoyed
his working years with Transport Canada as an electrician/mechanic
keeping diesel power running, runway lighting maintained and no break
power to air traffic control. Funeral service Monday June 2nd, 2008
at 2:00 P.M. from St Martin's Anglican Cathedral, Gander. Inurnment
followed at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations in Les's memory
