March 2, 2012 she passed peacefully away after a long struggle with breast cancer at Brookfield Hospital. January 26, 1920 - March 18, 2012 -
Born the first of six children to Isaac and Mary Ellen Howell, Letsie grew up in Pound Cove. At an early age she gave her heart to the Lord, and became a Salvation Army soldier and served her church for many years. Due to her mother's early death, at the age of twelve she took on the responsibility of caring for her siblings. In 1938 Letsie married John Sturge of Wesleyville where they lived and had a family of ten children; four sons and six daughters. The last three years of Letsie's life was spent at Bonnews Lodge. Letsie is predeceased by her husband John; two daughters; parents; and one sister. Letsie leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Gordon (Ann), Agustus (Susie), Mary (Sam), Martha (George), Calvin (Margaret), Brenda (Arthur), Jack and Shirley Joan; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and a large circle of other relatives and many friends.
