Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, St. John's on Thursday, March 1, 2012, Llewellyn Hollett, age 97, born in Harbour Buffett, Placentia Bay. Predeceased by his wife Susan, daughters Edna Irene, Deborah Ann, sister Emily, brother George, grandson Claude. Left to mourn with loving memories are sons Wally (Iris) of Quispamsis, NB; Stan (Mabel) of Harbour Buffett, Gordon (Marguerite) of Corner Brook, Calvin (Myrna) of Gander, Derek (Myrna) of Bathurst, NB; daughters Muriel of Gravenhurst, ON; Madeline (Jim) of Parry Sound, ON; Joan (Scott) of Niagara-on-the-lake, ON; brother Albert (Dorothy) of Arnold's Cove, sister-in-law Pearl of Noyan, Quebec, 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. It is with Great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one Jane Marie Janes (nee Sheppard) age 60 of Badger's Quay. Surrounded by her family and friends on Friday. March 2, 2012 she passed peacefully away after a long struggle with breast cancer at Brookfield Hospital. Predeceased by her father, Frank Sheppard, mother, Effie Sheppard (nee Winter), sister Edith Hounsell (nee Sheppard). Mother-in-law Elizabeth Janes (nee Cull). Sisters-in-law Jean Parsons (nee Janes), Frances Trask (nee Janes) and brothers-in-law William Trask, Vaughan Janes and Thomas Parsons. Left to mourn with loving memories are her husband Aubrey Janes of Badger's Quay, her son Jeremy Janes currently residing in Alberta, her two daughters; Melissa Janes (Michael) and Bev Scougall of St. John's, and her Stepson Rex Janes (Pam) of Alberta. Her two sisters; Grace Sheppard of Badger's Quay, Sadie Butler (Jack) of Musgrave Harbour and her three brothers; Gordon Sheppard (Sylvia) of Brookfield, Roland Sheppard (June) of Halifax and Harry Sheppard (Verna) of Lumsden. Her Father-in-law Charles Janes of Badger's Quay. Her three grandsons, twenty nieces, twenty-one nephews, plus a large circle of relatives, friends and previous co-workers. She rested beautifully at the Kittiwake Funeral Home in Pound Cove. Her funeral service took place on Monday. March.5th, 2012 at the St. Alban's Anglican Church in Badger's Quay. Passed peacefully away at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay on Friday, March 2, 2012 Gordon Best, age 88 years. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Celeste Best; infant daughter Pearl; brothers Stanley, Art and Percy; sisters Lydia, Gladys and Emma. Passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital, March 2, 2012 at the age of 97 years young. Predeceased by wife Margaret in 2002 and son Raymond and sister Hattie Saunders. Leaving to mourn sons Robert (Angela); Eric (Barbara); Gerald (Joan); Harold (Lucie); 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Sister-in-laws Betty (Chuck) Spackman; Lydia Hayward; Rita Briffett; Shirley (Toby) Baker as well as 2 special cousins Mildred and Eileen Arnold and other relatives and friends. Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander on Friday, March 9, 2012, Mr. Terry Gillingham of Musgrave Harbour in his 55th year. Predeceased by his father, Baxter, and brothers, John and Everett. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Yvonne, mother Juanita Gillingham, mother-in-law,Gladys Stokes both residing at Hillcrest Manor in Musgrave Harbour, two sons Jason (Melanie), and Dwight (Sarah) both of Musgrave Harbour, six brothers, Barry (Carol), Gary (Yvonne), Dean (Netta), Craig (Kathleen), Eric (Eunice), and Chris (Angela), four sisters, Viola (Kevin), Barb (Ray), Cindy (Gerald), and Brenda, sister-in-law Sandra, three grandchildren Jaeley, Mackenzie and Briell. , age 86, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Long Term Care Centre in Corner Brook. Anne enjoyed a long life and made many happy memories with her husband of 62 years, Tom (Plate Cove/ Gander); children: Thomas (Jo-Anne) of Corner Brook, Barbara (Lawrie) of Brandon, MB, Wayne of Lufkin, Texas and Donald (Carla) of Mississauga, ON; grandchildren Steven, Nadine, Katie, Paul, Jeremy, Julie, Meaghan, Chelsea, Emily and James; great-grandchildren Kaylie and Austyn. She is survived by sisters Bridgett (Bride) and Cecila (Sis) both of Gander. She was predeceased by parents, Pierce and Margaret Maloney of Sweet Bay, Bonavista Bay, and brothers Peter, James, and Michael (Mick).Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Monday, March 19th from St. Joseph's Parish in Gander. STURGE, Avalon -
December 17, 1922 - March 15, 2012

The Sturge family of Valleyfield would like to announce the sudden passing of Avalon. He was the last surviving child born to Jacob & Louisa Sturge, predeceased by son Fredrick, six brothers and two sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond memories are his loving wife of sixty- six years Minnie, his sons: Eric (Sylvia), Elotus ( Joanne), Philip ( Sandra), and daughters: Shirley (Clyde), Dorothy (Herbert), Cynthia (Andy), Sophie. Also leaving to mourn 15 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Rev. Brian Hannon conducted the funeral service at the Memorial United Church in Valleyfield on March 18, 2012@ 2:00pm. Followed by Internment at the United Cemetery. BROWN, Eric -
June 29, 1943 - March 15, 2012

It is with great sadness that the Brown family announces the passing of Eric. He is predeceased by his first wife Judy, father Edgar, mother Margaret, brother Bill and brother in-law Reg Humphries. Leaving to mourn with fond memories are his loving wife Joyce, daughters: Christine Delaney (Wayne), Faye Sweeney (Brad), Leanne Brown (Jason); step sons: Andre Sturge (Robin), Glen Sturge (Sherry), brothers: Ken Brown (Elsie), Arthur Brown (Bonnie), sisters: Bernice Humphries, Shirley Wells (Warren). Also, leaving to mourn are 9 grandchildren: Micheal, Alex, Daniel, Brock, Madison, Ava, Justin, Matthew, and Cole. OSMOND (CROCKER), Hannah Elizabeth -
October 17, 1918 - March 18, 2012
The Osmond family of Gambo would like to announce the sudden passing of Elizabeth. She was the last surviving child born to Edward and Jane Crocker of Greenspond, predeceased by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Leaving to mourn her sons; Maxwell (Eileen), Gordon (Minnie), Eric (Linda), John (Joanne), and daughters; Bernice (Fred), Edith (Harold) and Barbara (Edgar), also 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Rev Betty Harbin conducted the funeral service at St. George's Anglican Church in Gambo on March 21, 2012 at 2 p.m. followed by internment at the Anglican Cemetery. Flowers were accepted and donations in her memory were made to St. George's Anglican Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Pritchett's Funeral home of Gambo.

STURGE, Letsie Leuella,
January 26, 1920 - March 18, 2012

Born the first of six children to Isaac and Mary Ellen Howell, Letsie grew up in Pound Cove. At an early age she gave her heart to the Lord, and became a Salvation Army soldier and served her church for many years. Due to her mother's early death, at the age of twelve she took on the responsibility of caring for her siblings. In 1938 Letsie married John Sturge of Wesleyville where they lived and had a family of ten children; four sons and six daughters. The last three years of Letsie's life was spent at Bonnews Lodge. Letsie is predeceased by her husband John; two daughters; parents; and one sister. Letsie leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Gordon (Ann), Agustus (Susie), Mary (Sam), Martha (George), Calvin (Margaret), Brenda (Arthur), Jack and Shirley Joan; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and a large circle of other relatives and many friends. Funeral service took place at The Salvation Army Citadel, New-Wes-Valley on Thursday, March 22, 2012 with Major Barry Anstey officiating, assisted by Hardy Chippett CSM(A). Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on March 21, 2012, Pauline Kane, aged 59 years. Predeceased by her parents Abe and Theresa Kane, and sister, Kathleen Cornish. Passed peacefully away on March 23, 2012 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Tom Tulk of Aspen Cove in his 64th year. Predeceased by his parents Walter and Amelia; brothers Clayton, Garland, Ralph, Stan, Walt, Bill and sister Eunice. Passed peacefully away at The Moncton Hospital, Moncton, NB on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, Robert Spurrell age 77 years of Badger's Quay. Predeceased by his parents; Joseph and Lucy Spurrell and baby brother; Lewis. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his wife; Laura nee (Jacobs), 3 daughters; Judy (Gary Sullivan) of Portugal Cove, Geraldine (Andy Sturge) of Badger's Quay, Valerie (Terry Mayo) of Torbay, 1 son; Christopher (Kelly) of Boundary Creek, NB, 4 grandchildren; Jessica, (Matthew Kean) Brianna, Hailey and Jacob, 1 sister; Lillian Spurrell of Daniel's Cove, special cousin; Mary Belbin of St. John's. He was a long time member of the Badger's Quay Lion's Club, SUF #53, the St. Alban's Church Choir and the BAC (Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen). Predeceased by his parents Walter and Martha Kean, brother Noah, and sister Elsie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories; wife Mildred; sons: Donald, Douglas (Karen), and Gregory; grandson: Justin. Predeceased by parents George and Sarah Jane Smith, step father Joseph Maxwell Sinclair, sister Ethel, first wife Agnes Louise Smith, half brothers Lindo, Hayward, Willie, Herven, Lawerence, half sister Lydia. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Walter of 62 years, two sons Max (Marion) of Kelligrews, CBS, and Phonce (Petra) of Surrey, B.C., nine daughters Kay (Pete) of Gander, Jill (Bill) of Moncton, N.B., Dale (Rob) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Patricia (Clarence) of Musgrave Harbour, Frankie (Rocky) of Musgrave Harbour, Suzette (Kim) of Surrey, B.C., Joanne (Monty) of Musgrave Harbour, Michelle (martin) of Gander and Jeanie (Bob) of Appleton, two sisters Mereida Abbott and Barbara Pinsent both of Musgrave Harbour, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Monday, April 2nd from the Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour with Majors Barry and Donna Anstey officiating. Interment followed from the Salvation Army Cemetery in Musgrave Harbour. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbour - Wesleyville.
