ANDREWS, Lester
Passed peacefully away on June 1, 2001 at Brookfield Hospital, Lester Andrews of Wesleyville, age 79. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Neta; son, Henry (Shirley) of Mount Pearl; daughter, Joan Robbins (Angus) of Gander; brother, Harry (Erma) of St. John's; sisters, Emma Spurrell (Frank) of Badger's Quay, Pearl Eggleston (Glen) of Florida, Isabelle Humphries (Harold) of Ontario, and Bernice Easton of St. John's; brother-in-law, Christopher Sturge of Wesleyville; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Stephen, Susan, David; special niece, Sophie Stokes; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 4, 2001 from Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville, with Rev. S.M. Jung officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Wesleyville. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

HOBBS, Margaret
Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on June 2, 2001, Margaret Hobbs of Gander, age 38. Predeceased by father Jim Shugarue. Left with loving memories are husband Rod of Gander, daughter Terri-Lynn Shugarue of Gander, mother Genevieve Shugarue of Gander; brother Jim Shugarue (Dorothy) of Gander; sisters Betty (Paul) Hansen of Gander; Linda Shugarue of Sackville, N.S., Ruth (Roy) Eisan of Gander, Doreen (Jerome) White of Gander, Sharon (Barry) Braithwaite of Rockland, Ontario, Ann Marie (Jim) Nippard of Rockland, Ontario; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral mass was held on June 6, 2001 from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Donations in her memory can be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.

HOWELL, Leo Gordon
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on June 4, 2001, Leo Gordon Howell, of Carmanville, age 78. Leo was a World War II veteran, a member of the Orangemen's Lodge, Royal Back Precepture, and worked as an officer with the Department of Forestry. Predeceased by wife Maunda, brother Chesley and sister, Mary Hicks. Left with loving memories are special friend, Gertie Brown and family; daughters Henrietta (Lloyd) Harris of Warkworth, Ont., Kathleen (James) Hannaford of Calgary, Atla., Caville (Guy) Bixby of Wabush, Labrador, Joan (Frank) McIntyre of Milbrook, Ont., and Nerica Synyard (Gerry Lambert) of Oshawa, Ont., sister Bessie (Wycliffe) Young of Deer Lake; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 8, 2001 from the United Church, Carmanville. Interment at Carmanville United Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Newfoundland Treatment and Research Foundation. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.

CHAULK, Clarence R.
Passed away tragically on June 5, 2001 in Labrador, Mr. Clarence R. Chaulk of Aspen Cove in his 47th year. Predeceased by his parents Clyde and Daisy Chaulk. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Marilyn (nee Boyd), two daughters, Tanya Butler (Frank) of Musgrave Harbour, and Trena of St. John's; mother-in-law Edna Boyd of Musgrave Harbour; one brother Jack (Lorraine) of Aspen Cove; two sisters, Marie Chaulk of Aspen Cove and Patsy Freake (Robert) of Fort McMurray, AB; also special friend Andrew Wright of St. John's and others who knew Clarence as a friend, businessman and as a special sort of person. Funeral service took place on June 9th at Aspen Cove. Interment at the United Church Cemetery, Aspen Cove. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour/Wesleyville.

MYRICK, Edward Joseph
Tragically killed on June 5, 2001, Ed Myrick of Gander, age 49. Predeceased by his father Robert in April 2000. Left to mourn are his daughters, Stephanie and Stacey; their mother Jocelyn Myrick; special friend Roxina Russell of Gander; mother Eleanor of Gander; sister Rosemary (Robert) Fowler of Goose Bay, Labrador; niece Erika Fowler; nephews, Robin, Richard and Jonathan Fowler; and a very large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral mass was held on June 9, 2001 from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.

SKINNER, Lillian
Passed peacefully away on at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on June 5, 2001, Lillian Skinner of Carmanville, age 92. Predeceased by husband, Leonard, daughters, Phyllis and Muriel Skinner, son-in-law, Freeman Chaulk, and grandson Leonard Skinner. Left with loving memories are sons Gordon (Bernice) of Mount Pearl and Thomas (Joyce) of Main Point; daughters, Hazel (Eric) Kinden of Stag Harbour, Winnie Chaulk of Deadman's Bay, Audrey (Jesse) Stokes of Deadman's Bay, and Betty (Paul) Priddle of Carbonear; step-brother Carl Parsons (Vera) of Carmanville, sister Jessie Chaulk of Deadman's Bay; step-sister Phyllis (Douglas) Sheppard of Carmanville; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 8, 2001 from the United Church, Carmanville. Interment at Carmanville United Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.

STEELE, Eugene
Passed away tragically on June 5, 2001 in Labrador, Mr. Eugene Steele of Musgrave Harbour in his 59th year. Predeceased by his wife Jean and father Hubert. Left with fond and loving memories are his mother Winnifred Steele of Musgrave Harbour; two sons, Jonathan (Joanne Hayes) of Toronto, ON and Paul Mouland (Theresa) of Gander; one daughter Paulette Stokes (Todd) of Lumsden; one brother, James (Sandra) of Musgrave Harbour; two sisters, Leah Flynn (Harold) of Musgrave Harbour and Laura-Belle Abbott (Dave) of Musgrave Harbour; two grandchildren, Adam and Ryan; and also a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on June 9th at St. Luke's United Church in Musgrave Harbour. Interment at St. Luke's United Church Cemetery in Musgrave Harbour. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour/Wesleyville.

ADEY, Anderson
Passed peacefully away on June 7, 2001 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Anderson Adey of Adeytown, who would have been 100 years old on June 13, 2001. Predeceased by mother Jessie; father Simeon; brothers Claude and Andrew; sister Edith Cooper and nieces Edith and Jessie. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Myra (Frost) Adey of 69 years, sons, Donald (Brenda) of Gander and Lewis (Inez) of Clarenville; nieces, Prisella, Frances and Ivy; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at United Church, Adeytown. Funeral service was held on June 10 at the United Church, Adeytown with interment at United Church Cemetery, Adeytown. In his memory donations may be made to United Church Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home (1987) Ltd. Clarenville.

COLLINS, Evelyn Clayton
Passed away on June 7, 2001 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Evelyn Clayton Collins of Glenwood age 72. Predeceased by father Hubert Collins and Elizabeth Downer (Collins). Left to mourn are his wife Ruby; son Brian (Irene) of Glenwood; daughters, Elizabeth Gilbert (Barry) of Glenwood, Linda Callahan (Gary) of Corner Brook, Minnie Collins of Gander, Debbie Collins of Mount Pearl and Lana Russell of Minnesota; sisters, Effie Elliott (Stan) of Port Albert and Edith Day (Frank) of Corner Brook; step sister Bernadine Tilley (Joe) of Glenwood and Peter Downer (Nellie) of Gander Bay; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; eight nephews, three nieces, Wayne Gilbert, Tad Russell and Barry O'Rourke; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 9 at St. Andrew's Church, Glenwood, with Reverend Pilling officiating. Interment at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Glenwood. Arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte.

IVANY, Sarah Elizabeth (Peddle)
Passed peacefully away on June 9, 2001 at Lakeside Home, Gander, Sarah Ivany, age 89. Predeceased by her husband Jim; son Ben; son-in-law Lloyd Tibbs; parents and brothers Martin, Bob, Bill, Jim and Andrew. Left with loving memories are son Gordon (Phoebe) of Windsor Jct. NS., daughters Mary Tibbs of Gander, Bernice (Larry) Reid of Gander; brother Art Peddle of Corner Brook; sisters, Mary Hayter of St. John's, Clara Peddle of St. John's, daughter-in-law Maggie Ivany of Gander; 10 grandchildren Shirley, Terry (Marina), Tony (Blaze), Kathy (Rob), Jeff (Michelle), Tim (Corina), Lisa, Nevin (Sue), Jill (Doug), and Paula, 12 great grandchildren, Stephen (Marion), Kimberley, Brandon, Dustin, Nicole, David, Jake, Meredith, Shealyn, Kaitlyn, Megan and Alexandria; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 12 at St. Martin's Anglican Cathedral, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.

HODDER, Vaden
Passed away on June 12, 2001 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Vaden Hodder of Gander Bay age 45. Predeceased by father Edward, mother Bertha, son Bradley and sister Cavelle. Left with loving memories are wife Shirley; sons Sherman and Shannon of Gander Bay; daughter Sheena of Gander Bay; brother Ricky (Yvonne) of Gander, Gonzel (Blanche) of Gander Bay, Ray (Elive) of Baie Verte, Sam (Shirley) of Fort McMurray, Sterling (Netta) of Surrey, B.C. sisters, Florence (Peter) of Halifax, Sadie (Norman) of Gander Bay, Emily (Melvin) of Gander Bay, Rosie (Carl) of Baie Verte, Voila (Sterling) of Embree, Cayla of Gander; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 15, 2001 at the Pentecostal Church, Wing's Point Pentecostal Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.

KELLY, Patrick J. (Pat)
Passed away at Moncton Hospital on June 16, 2001, Patrick J. Kelly, age 67 years. Born in Gambo, he was the son of Mary and the late Ronald Kelly. Pat retired from the Ministry of Transport (Airports) with 35 years service. He is survived by his wife Elaine (Wornock) Kelly; mother Mary Kelly of Gander; stepchildren Kim Champagne of Thompson, Man., Dr. Brent (Susan) Steele of Port Hope, Ont.; grandchildren Kristie and Kyle Champagne; brothers Leonard (Robina) of Gambo, Alonzo (Josephine) of St. John's, Lester (Alice), of Gander, Dr. Ronald (Sandra) Kelly of Gander, Kevin (Cathy) of Lower Sackville, N.S.; sisters, Lillian Parsons of St. John's, Kathleen of Gander, Mary Furey (Jack) of Lower Sackville, N.S. and Anne Hickey (Steve) of Quispamsis, N.B.; as well as several nieces and nephews. A private memorial was held on June 19 at Lakeview Manor, Moncton. Donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation (Pallative Care Unit). Arrangements were under the direction of the Fair Haven Funeral Home, Moncton, N.B.

ROBBINS, Naida B. (Yates)
Passed away suddenly at her home in Lumsden on June 17, 2001, Naida B. Robbins, age 77. Predeceased by parents Minnie and Allan Yates and dear brother Otto. Sadly missed by Cyril, her husband of 57 years; daughters, Betty Sheppard (Doug) of Corner Brook, Gloria Bullock (Gary) of London, ON and Janice Evans of Corner Brook; grandchildren, Andrea Vardy (Greg), Douglas Sheppard, Heather and Matthew Bullock, and Andrew Evans; one great-grandson Cole Vardy; sisters-in-law Edna, Ivy, and Edna Robbins and Mae Yates; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Naida was a faithful and active member of the United Church and served in various capacities both locally and provincially. Funeral service was held on June 20 at Wesley United Church, Lumsden with Rev. Martin Dawson officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery. Donations may be made to the United Church, Lumsden or a charity of your choice.

HICKS, Marion Bride
Passed peacefully away on June 23, 2001 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Marion Bride Hicks, age 81. Predeceased by first husband Bertram Steele in 1964; second husband, Joseph Hicks in 1996; parents Tobias and Millie; daughter Ettie chandler in 1991; son-in-law Peter Fehr in 2001; and brother Maxwell Hicks. Left with loving memories are daughters Donna Abbott (Tobias) of Gander, Besie Fehr of Calgary, AB; brother Weldon (Olga) Hicks of Musgrave Harbour; son-in-law Paul of Toronto; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral service was held on June 25 at the Salvation Army Citadel, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.
