ROBBINS, Mabel -
Passed peacefully away at the age of 92 on Monday, June 2, 2008 at her home in Otterbury Manor, Wesleyville, Mabel Robbins; beloved wife of the late Arch Robbins of Lumsden. Left to mourn with many fond memories are three son, Angus (Joan) of Ottawa, ON, Carl (Dorothy) of St. John’s and Max (Bonnie) of Conception Bay South; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Robbins; sister-in-law, Ivy Robbins; brother-in-law, Cyril Robbins and as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held on June 4th from Wesley United Church, Lumsden with Rev. T. Bowman officiating. Internment to follow at the United Church Cemetery, Lumsden. In lieu of lowers, donations may be made to the United Church Cemetery Fund, Lumsden. Arrangements entrust to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Wesleyville/Musgrave Harbour. WELCHER, Elizabeth
Passed peacefully away on June 2, 2008 at Otterbury Manor, Wesleyville, Elizabeth Welcher (nee Dyke), age 84 years, formerly of Valleyfield. Predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Muriel Dyke; husband, Peter Welcher; daughter, Bonnie; four brothers, Percy, John, Belah and Stanley; one sister, Ireta. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her five sons, Stanley of Saskatchewan, Herbert (Rita) of Valley field, Ralph (Loretta) of Valleyfield, Hayward ( Carmel) Valleyfield, Ivan (Wanda) of Slave Lake, AB; one brother, Seymour Dyke of Mount Pearl; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and many friends. Funeral service was held on June 5th at the United Church, Valleyfield with Rev. George Kean officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Valleyfield. RAFUSE, Brian Gordon
(Jan. 24, 1948 – June 2, 2008)
Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on June 4, 2008, Brian Gordon Rafuse, age 60. Predeceased by father, Harold; brothers, Darrell and Mike; father and mother-in-law, Norm and Mabel Sheppard; sister-in-law, Brenda Quinton. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Irene, son, Steven (Nicolle) of Camrose, AB; grandchildren, Hayley and Parker, and a special friend, Sophie; mother, Winnifred of Brooklyn, NS; brothers, John (Sheila) of Windsor, NS; Kennie (Pat) Moncton, NB; Tom (Daphne) of Gander; sister, Joan (Wilfred) Hawksworth of Hythe AB; sister-in-laws, Norma (Carol), Jean (Larry), Marion (Barry), all of Gander. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held June 7th from Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Inurnment at a later date. Brian relocated to Gander being imported by Gander Flyers Hockey Team, October 1968, winning many championship and awards, meeting the love of his life, Irene Sheppard and commencing a career with ATC for 32 years, retiring May 2003. Brian was very active in his community, volunteering his time and talent to Gander Minor Hockey, Sea Cadets Band, Masons, Shriner's, Board member of Gander Co-op, and teaching guitar groups and the church choir. Brian's love of family was ever apparent and he cherished his time with his grandchildren. Brian dearly loved music, golfing and socializing with many friends. PRITCHETT, Marion Patricia
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on Friday, June 6, 2008, Marion Patricia Pritchett in her 75th year. Predeceased by her mother, Marie and her father, Bela. Left to mourn are her husband, Lloyd, daughter, Mary Dawe (Harry) and son, Almond (Roxanne); granddaughters, Kelly, Tonya and Stephanie (precious to her); sisters, Bess lie Elliott of Gambo, Shirley Warren (Ken) of Glovertown, and Evelyn Pritchett of Mount Pearl; brother, Morgan Pritchett of Labrador city. Also left to mourn are a large number of loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Funeral service was held from St. George’s Anglican Church, Gambo on June 10th.
Words cannot express how much she is loved and will be missed.

STURGE, Audrey Jean
Passed peacefully away on June 7, 2008 at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex, St. John’s, Audrey Jean Sturge age 77 years of Wesleyville. Predeceased by her husband, Clifford; parents, Griffith and Violet Oakley; sisters, Beatrice Mullett, Bertha Winters and Agnes Norris. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories , her son, Jeffery (Brenda) of Valleyfield; daughter; Shirley Wakely (Barry) of Wesleyville; two sisters, Ella Best of Mount Pearl, Shirley Gilbert (Ewen) of St. John’s; three grandchildren, Kayla, Rebecca, Brady and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 10th at the Salvation Army Citadel, New-Wes-Valley with Captains Sheldon and Ashley Bungay officiating. HAMILTON, Francis Anthony
Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family on June 8, 2008 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s, NL, Frank Hamilton of St. John’s, aged 87 years. He was born in Joe Batt’s Arm, Fogo Island and came to Gander in 1941, where he worked as an Airport Firefighter for 38 years. He moved to St. John’s in 2003. Predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 2004; his parents, Thomas and Agnes Hamilton and brother, Ambrose Hamilton. Left to mourn his two daughters, Patricia Lamont (Bill) of Dartmouth, NS, Mary Hamilton-Church (Bob) of St. John’s; three sons, Brian (Elaine) of Fredericton, NB, Paul (Lynn) of Toronto, ON, and Sean (Linda) of St. John’s; his thirteen beautiful grandchildren, Michael and Ann; Marie, John, Janet and Christine; Peter and Claire; Christopher, Stefan, and Gina; Catherine and Sean. Funeral mass took place on June 10th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, St. John’s, NL. Internment followed at Holy Sepulchure Cemetery, St. John’s, NL.

RYAN, Earl
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on June 17, 2008, Earl Ryan, age 82 years. Predeceased by his wife, Doris Ryan; son, Fred; son-in-law, Harry Doucette; brother, Jim and parents, Alfred & Florence. Left with loving memories are his son, Ken (Linda) of Mount Pearl, daughter, Joyce Doucette of Gander; sister, Phyllis (Max) of Bonavista. Grandchildren, Tina Maloney, Suzanne Doucette, Sherri-Lynn Doucette, Harry Doucette, Jason Ryan, Kelly Parise, Kim, Matthew and Kevin Ryan. Great-grandchildren, Emily & Ryan Maloney, Brittany & Jacob Parise, Melanie & Kailey Ryan. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. - 78 formerly of Wesleyville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger’s Quay. Predeceased by parents, Nathan and Gertrude Winsor; sisters, Frances Welsh and Louise Lewis and brothers, Jacob Winsor and Cyril Winsor. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sister, Olive Kean of Wesleyville, brother, Malcolm (Virtue) Winsor of St. John’s; sisters-in-law, Frances Winsor of St. John’s and Zena Winsor of Badger’s Quay; eight nephews and eight nieces and a large circle of other family and friends. Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander on June 18, 2008, Juanita Pinsent, age 85 years. Predeceased by her parents, William & Ida (Shelley) West; sister, Daisy; brother, Edward. Left with loving memories are her husband, Donald H. Passed away at Brookfield Hospital on Thursday, June 19, 2008, Matilda (nee Stokes) Butt, age 86 years of Lumsden. Predeceased by her husband, Eric; brother, Newman Stokes, and sister, Kate Gray. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Melvin (Judy) and Ted (Elizabeth: daughters, Eileen Gibbons (Larry) and Christine Gibbons (Andy), all of Lumsden; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Earle of Dartmouth, NS; sisters-in-law, Mabel Stokes of Lumsden, Nine Roebotham (Howard) of Lumsden, Grace St. Jean (Bateese) of Vancouver; brother-in-law, Fred Butt (Elizabeth) of St. John’s; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Don Elliott, age 76 years. Predeceased by parents, Mark and Dora Elliot. Predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Rhoda Abbott; four brothers, Albert, William, Walter and Tobias; four sisters, Jessie, Muriel, Blanche and Geraldine. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Bessie of 63 years; three sons, Harrison (Grace) of Musgrave Harbour, Graham (Karen) of Ontario, and Jeffrey (Michelle) of Ontario; three daughters, Delores Hunter (Art) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Sandra Steele (James) of Musgrave Harbour and Madge Abbott (Lloyd) of Musgrave Harbour; three brothers, Ned (Alva) of Musgrave Harbour, Jim (Betty) of Musgrave Harbour and Ches (June) of Musgrave Harbour; one sister, Maggie Langdon of Botwood; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his wife, Alma; parents, Thomas and Amelia Kean; brothers, Hubert and Roland; sisters-in-law, Olive Winter, Leah Roebothem and Merida Knee; brothers-in-law, Edward, Leslie and David Winter. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his five sons, Charles (Roma) of Badger’s Quay, Rick (Irene) of Badger’s Quay, Tony (Gwen) of Centreville, Leslie (Kelly) of Badger’s Quay, and Kevin (Stephanie) of Frederickton, NB; brother, Kenneth (Betty) of Lumsden; two sisters, Annie (Rev. Passed peacefully away on June 30, 2008 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Elizabeth Cahill, aged 81 years. Predeceased by her husband, Thomas and brother, George Vaters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Tom (Sharon) of Ottawa, ON and Gerald (Gertie) of Gander; grandchildren, Anthony and Adam Cahill, Gander and sister, Mary (Bob Clouter) of St. John’s. Funeral service was held on July 2nd from Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander followed by interment at the Commonwealth War Grave, Gander.
