DOWDEN, Daisy -
Passed peacefully away on June 2, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Daisy Dowden in her 84th year. Left with fond and loving memories are her daughter, Marilyn of Gambo; son John, wife Marilyn of Gambo, son Bryant, wife Enid of Gander; two precious grandchildren, Jennifer (Brendan Kelly) of Ottawa, Jeffrey (Catherine Harty) of St. John's; two godchildren, Joanne Cooze and Joanne Pritchett, Gambo; sisters-in-law, Madge Cooze, Gambo, Mildred Downer, Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay; brothers-in-law, Raymond Dowden, Bonnews Lodge, Badgers Quay, Benjamin Downer, Greenspond. Mourning with the family are very loving relatives and friends. Funeral service was held June 4th at St. George's Anglican Church, Gambo. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo.

BAULD, Elsie -
Passed peacefully away on June 4, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mrs. Elsie Bauld of Clarke's Head in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband Bertrum (1982). Left with fond and loving memories are sons, Bernard (Sherry) of Clarke's Head, Roy (Audrey) of Stratford, Ont., Francis (Pat) of Stratford, Ont., Leslie (Debbie) of Stratford, Ont., Sidney (Shirley) of Clarke's Head, Brad Francis (Sherry) of Clarke's Head; daughters, Vina (Morgan) Hickman of Stouffville, Ont., Beulah (Clyde) Price of Clarke's Head, Nina (Ray) Torraville of Harris Point; brothers, Stanley Francis (Molley) of Clarke's Head, Claude Francis (Pearl) of George's Point, Scott Francis (Nellie) of Clarke's Head; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on June 6th at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wing's Point. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Clarke's Head. Donations can be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church Building Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

ELSON, Barbara (Greene) -
Passed peacefully away on June 6, 2002, at Homasassa, Florida, Barbara Elson, age 56 years. Predeceased by father Garnet Greene. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Ronald (Kara); daughter Shari; grandchildren Regan and Kyrsten of Florida; mother Elsie Greene, sisters, Vera (Bob), Gwen (Doug), Marilyn of Gander, Joan (Myles) of Ottawa; two nieces, four nephews; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 11th at Strickland's Funeral Home, Crystal River, Florida.

WINSOR, Captain Boyce -
Passed peacefully away on June 6, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Captain Boyce Winsor of Wesleyville, age 84. Predeceased by wife, Myrtle (nee Winsor); father Thomas; mother Julia (Blackwood); stepmother Annie (Hoyles); and brother Douglas. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are son Mason (Lorraine) of Wesleyville; daughter Julia James (Kenneth) of Gander; brother Thomas (Marie) of Wesleyville; five grandchildren, Trudy Goodyear (Phillip), Cathy Carter (Keith), Michael Winsor (Allison), Joanne James-Geumei (Ahmed) and Bradley James; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Goodyear; brothers-in-law Boyce Winsor (Mabel) of Wesleyville and Don Winsor (Annie) of St. John's, and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held on June 8th at Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville with Rev. Jung officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery (old), Wesleyville. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

WALSH, Ann -
Passed peacefully away on June 7, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mrs. Ann Walsh in her 78th year. Predeceased by her parents, Tom and Catherine Fleming; and sisters, Meg and Mary. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, William; son Gary of Gander; daughter Sylvia (Larry) Deveau of Riverview, NB; brother Sam (Angela) of Torbay, NF; grandchildren Jason and Christine; great-grandchildren Jason and Christina ; great-grandchildren Abigail and Brandon; and a large circle of other relatives and friends Funeral service was held on June 10th at the Roman Catholic Church in Gander. HAYWARD, Ollie M. -
Passed peacefully away on June 8, 2002 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, NF., Ollie M. Hayward of Carmanville, age 81 years. Predeceased by husband Clyde; mother and father Fanny and Baxter Russell; brothers Guy, Donald and Walter; and sister-in-law Blanche. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughter Gay (Bob) White of Carmanville, nephew/son Eddie Russell of Carmanville; four grandchildren, Bobette (Audrey) Hancott, Sharlene (Darin) MacDonald, Robbie White and Lorne Russell; three great-grandchildren, Kristin Hancott, Courtney MacDonald and Joshua MacDonald; brothers, Brett, Melvin (Phyllis) and Claude (Marjorie); sisters-in-law Melinda and Ivy. Funeral service was held on June 11th at Emmanuel United Church, Carmanville. Interment at the United Church Cemetery, Carmanville. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte.

SAMSON, Reta M. -
Passed peacefully away on June 11, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre, Reta M. Samson of Eastport, formerly of Flat Island, age 85 years. Predeceased by husband Albert M. and daughter Sandra. Left to cherish her precious memory are sons, Albert (Audrey), William (Debbie); daughters, Marion (Frank), Barbara (Bert), Della (Dean); son-in-law Wilfred; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Agnes Vivian; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Squire's Funeral Home, Eastport. Funeral service took place on June 13th at Holy Cross Anglican Church. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery, Eastport. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

KELLOWAY, Frank -
Passed peacefully away on June 15, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Frank Kelloway of Pool's Island, age 84. Predeceased by father Job, mother Delilah, three brothers and two sisters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Jessie; daughters, Olive (Edgar) of Burin, Rowena (Tony) of St. John's, Brenda (Randy) of St. John's and Donna (Kevin) of Brookfield; grandchildren Junior, Trent, Jason, Deanne (George), Andrew and Sarah; great-grandson Jake; sisters, Alfreda Carter (Edward) of Badger's Quay, Triffie Barfoot (Jacob) of St. John's, Rowena Williams (Reginald) of New Harbour and Marie Lawrence (Lemuel) of Portland; sister-in-law Elsie Kelloway of Mt. Pearl; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 17th at St. James Anglican Church, Pool's Island with Rev. J. Watton officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Pool's Island. Donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Pool's Island. BOYDE, Ida Mary -
Passed peacefully away on June 17, 2002, Mrs. Ida Mary Boyde in her 85th year. Predeceased by brothers Eric Moore, Burt Moore and sister Audrey Parker. Left with loving memories are husband, Allan of Gander, son William (Gloria) of St. John's; sister-in-law Winnie Moore of grand Falls-Windsor; grandchildren, Ginette (Brian Ricketts), Jeffrey; great-grandchild Brianna; also a large circle of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 20th at Fraser Road United church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

GILL, Gerald -
Passed away on June 20, 2002 at St. Clare's Hospital, Mr. Gerald Gill in his 67th year. Predeceased by his parents Edwin P. and Nellie Gill, stepmother Emily Gill and stepsister Geraldine Vincent. Left with fond and loving memories are loving wife Emma, daughter Nellie (Denis) Lush of Lantz, NS; sons, Gerry (Tara) of Gander and Corey (Elizabeth) of Gander; sister Ollie (Bruce) Davis of Brookfield, B.B., brother-in-law Donald Vincent of Newtown, BB., grandchildren Mark, Shawn, Neil, Cassie, Amy and Catherine; and a large circle of other relatives and friends Funeral service was held on June 23 at the United Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Newfoundland Labrador Cancer Research Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

PYNN, Harry J. -
Passed peacefully away on June 20, 2002 in his 79th year at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Harry J. Pynn. Predeceased by brothers Jack and Bill; sisters, Mary, Eva and Wynona (Mary). Left to mourn are wife, Agnes (Kelly); daughters, Eileen Roger (Dean, Petawawa,ON), Lillian Paul (Perry, Eagle River, Alaska); sisters, Josephine Schultz (Duluth, Min, U.S.A.), Lillian Heckleman (Thornhurst, PA, U.S.A.)Pauline Arscott (St. John's, NF); grandchildren Melanie, Angela, Ryan and Sabrina; grandchildren Melanie, Angela, Ryan and Sabrina; great-grandchildren Owen and Spencer; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was at the Roman Catholic church in Gambo. Funeral conducted by Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo.

BISHOP, Hazel Winnie -
Passed peacefully away on June 21, 2002, after a wonderful stay at the Leonard A.. Miller Centre, St. John's, Hazel Winnie (Pinsent) Bishop, age 81. A native of Grand Falls-Windsor, Hazel and her late husband, Cecil D. Bishop, established their home in Gander in 1946. A member of the Anglican Church Women's Auxiliary, Hazel took an active role in the affairs of St. Martin's Pro-Cathedral including the 20 years of Old Fashioned Concerts. Left to mourn are her brothers, Harry Pinsent (Dorothy) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Gordon Pinsent (Charmion King) of Toronto; sister Nita Knight of St. John's, sister-in-law, Faith Pinsent of North Bay, Ontario; daughter June (Richard) Ellis of St. John's, son Neil (Betty) Bishop of Stephenville; son Brian (Frances) Bishop of Wasaga Beach, Ontario; grandchildren Sean and Anneliese Ellis; Brian and Allison Bishop; and Samantha and Jaqueline Bishop. Hazel leaves a large circle of close friends who were touched by her wit, compassion and good humour. Funeral service was held on June 24 at St. Martin's Pro-Cathedral, Gander. Interment followed at All Saints Cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. Martin's Pro-Cathedral Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers. Arrangements entrusted to Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

PICKETT, Margaret -
Passed peacefully away on June 24, 2002 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, Margaret B. Pickett of Centreville, age 83 years. Predeceased by her husband Thomas; brothers, Ronald, Douglas and Lemuel; sisters, Mildred, Doris and Idella; and stepsister Rowena Barbour and sister-in-law Elizabeth Anstey. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are eight sons, Gerald (Mae) of Iqaluit, Nunavit, Stanley (Iris) of St. John's, Seymour (Peggy) of Topsail, Malcolm (Lillian) of Centreville, Silas (Emily) of Centreville, Robert John (Adelaide) of Centreville, Lemuel of Wareham and Jonas (Olive) of Armprior, ON; five daughters, Mildred (Rick Shewchuk) of Lethbridge, AB, Priscilla (Gary Taylor) of Trenton, ON, Rowena of Calgary, AB, Bonnie (Eric Matthews) of Scarborough, ON, and Rebecca (Ronald Hewitt) of Centreville; sister-in-law Ella Anstey of Centreville; 38 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 27th at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Centreville, with Rev. R. Osmond officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Centreville. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Barnabas Anglican church, Centreville. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

BRADLEY, Gordon -
Passed peacefully away on June 24, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Gordon Bradley in his 80th year. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Ida; sister (Leah Oldford); three sons, Roger (Marie), Gilbert (Barb) and Aubrey (Maria); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 26th at St. Alban's Anglican Church, Burnside. Donations may be made to the James Paton Memorial Hospital in his memory.

WHEATON, Chesley -
Passed peacefully away on June 24, 2002, after a lengthy illness, Chesley Wheaton, Sr. at Lakeside Homes, Gander, age 85. Mr. Wheaton retired from Woods Operations in 1982. Predeceased by wife Ina; daughter Betty; brothers Malcolm and Rex' and sisters Annie and Gladys. Left to mourn are sons Willie (wife Marina) of Frederickton, Allison (wife Blanche) of Noggin Cove, Charles (wife Effie) of Lewisporte, Norman (wife Lorna ) of Main Point, and Martin (wife Cheryl) of Lloydminister, Saskatchewan; daughters Catherine of Kentville, NS, Gloria (George Harris) of Harris Point, NF and Maisie (Fred King) of Edson, Alberta; sisters, Myrtle Harbin of Victoria Cove and Lucretia Gillingham of Noggin Cove; brother Lionel Wheaton of Frederickton,; 31 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on June 26th at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Carmanville, conducted by Pastor R. Durdle . Interment at Frederickton Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were sons Willie, Allison, Charles, Norman, son-in-law George Harris and grandson-in-law Dwayne Barlow. Funeral arrangements entrusted to White Dove Funeral Homes, Lewisporte.

DYKE, Lillian -
Passed peacefully away at her home in Glovertown on June 25, 2002, Lillian Dyke in her 102nd year. Affectionately known as Nan by family and friends she leaves to mourn daughter Geraldine Sweetapple (Leonard) and son Aubrey dyke (Sandra); five grandchildren, Clarence Sweetapple (Patsy) Sandy Dyke (Karen), Sean Dyke (Dianne), Stephanie Tonks (Bob) and Stuart Dyke (Pauline), as well as eight great-grandchildren, Sheldon, Trevor, Dustin, Cameron, Travis, Thomas, Heather and Sophia. She leaves behind her special friends Erdie, Bridie, Shirley, Jean, Madge, Evelyn, Nita and the others who were with her the last eight years. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph (Nov. 22, 1978). Visitation was at Oram's Funeral Home in Glovertown on June 26th. Funeral held at Central United Church Glovertown on Thursday with interment at Hillside Cemetery, Glovertown. We wish to thank Paul and Karen of Oram's Funeral Home for their kindness and warmth and understanding; Rev. Paul Vardy for his many visits, which Nan enjoyed especially during her final days and for the comfort to the family since her passing; Bill Burton and the Central United Church Choir. We will never forget Gene and Shirley Delaney who were never more than a phone call away and the many doctors and nurses who dropped by in times of need. We'll miss you Nan but we all have our special memories as we celebrate your special life knowing that you're safe in the arms of Jesus until we meet again. We Love You, Nan.

GILL, Frederick -
Passed peacefully away on June 30, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Frederick Gill of Newtown, age 68 years, who resided at Hillcrest Manor, Musgrave Harbour. Predeceased by his parents, Bertram and Eleanor Gill; brother William Baxter, sister Millicent. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his brother Baxter (Sophie) of Newtown; sister Sarah white (Lindburgh) of Newtown; several nieces and nephews, friends of Hillcrest Manor, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 2nd at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Newtown, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating, assisted by Rev. Miriam Bowlby, Organist was Blanche Norris. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Newtown. Donations in his memory can be made to St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery Fund, Newtown. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove.
