ROBBINS, Stephen Gordon (1939-2007) -
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Friday, July 6, 2007 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Gordon's last several days were like his life, surrounded by friends and worrying about the well being of his family. Gord was a friend to many and his presence will be sadly missed by his loving family and all that knew him. Gord is predeceased by his wife, Marge, 2006; son, Ted, 1980; and his parents, Irene, 2001 and Eli John, 1995. Left to mourn are sons, Gregory (Carolanne) of Scarborough, ON; Glenn (Cheryl) of Greenwood, NS; and Bruce of Vancouver, BC; daughter, Debbie (Dave) of St. John's. Gordon also leaves sisters, Belinda (Edgar) of St. Jones Within and Ella (Don) of Scarborough, ON; brother, Ted (Kay) of Burnaby, BC; sisters-in-law, Ruby (Colin) of North York, ON and Norma (Paul) of Toronto, ON; brothers-in-law, Wade (Linda) of Gander and Neil (Linda) of Gander. Gord also leaves to mourn his cherished grandchildren, Melanie, Cory, Stephen, Nicholas, Daniel, Shawna, Chelsea, and Shelby as well as a large circle of relatives and close friends. Visitation took place at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Cremation followed. Memorial service to be held at Emmanual United Church in Carmanville on July 21st with interment to follow. Due to allergies, please no flowers or scented products.

JAMES, Elizabeth (Betty) Eileen -
Passed peacefully away on July 8, 2007 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Elizabeth (Betty) Eileen James of Gander, age 86 years. Predeceased by her husband, Jack, son, David and daughter, Connie. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, John (Bud) (Bernice) of Gander and Don (Joy) of Nova Scotia; daughter-in-law, Phyllis of St. John's; and special family member, Ron Jones of Gander; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 11, 2007 at St. Martin 's Anglican Cathedral, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. PYE, Warrick -
Passed away at Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga, Ontario on Monday, July 9, 2007, Mr. Warrick Pye of Goose Bay in his 62nd year. Predeceased by his father, Edmund and father-in-law, Peter Stokes. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Mildred; mother, Pearl Pye of Mary's Harbour; son, Keith (Valerie) of Goose Bay; daughter, Maxine (Shawyne Young) of Orangeville, ON; mother-in-law, Ethel Stokes of Deadman's Bay; three stepbrothers, Richard Pye (Shirley), Brad Pye (Donna) and David Pye; one stepsister, Judy Smith (Barry), all of Vancouver, BC; four grandchildren, Rodney, Liam, Mackenzie and Owen; six sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law and families; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 14th at the Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Deadman's Bay. Officiating officers were Captains Ernest and Shirley Chaulk. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbour/Wesleyville.

SAMSON, Louis (1924-2007) -
Passed peacefully away on July 9, 2007 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Louis Samson of St. Brendan's, age 83 years. Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary Samson, brother, James and sister, Johanna. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his brothers, Francis, Micahel (April a very special sister-in-law) of Gander; sister, Martina (Bill Minivan), Bessie (Tom Mason) of Gander, Bridget (Jack Aylward) of St. John's, Anne (Jim Baggs) of Alberta; also a large circle of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral mass was held on July 12th at St. Joseph 's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation. KELLY, Leonard P. -
Passed peacefully away on July 10, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, Leonard P. Kelly of Gambo. Left to mourn his wife, Robina; sons, Cameron, Laurie (Joanne) and Robin (Dawnise); daughters, Pauline (John), Beverley (Ricky), Kimberley Ann, Averill (Kenny), grandchildren, Tanya, Tammy, Alan, Andrew, Averill, Maggie and Norah; and a large circle of family and friends. Cremation was held on July 12, 2007. Private funeral took place. Visitation was held at Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

OXFORD, Shirley -
Passed away suddenly in St. John's, on July 11, 2007, Shirley Oxford, formerly of Gander, in her 62nd year. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children, Rick (Juanita), Susan (Randy), Kimberley (Mark), Dean (Jewell), companion, Alex, mother, Nancy; brothers, Gordon (Juanita), Davis (Sandra), Dennis (Carol) and sister, Dale. Shirley was the proud grandmother of Hillary, Emily, Jacob, Hannah, Chad and Christopher. Funeral service was held on July 13th at Barrett's chapel with Captains Anthony and Yvonne Ledrew officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery on Blackmarsh Road, St. John's.

FANCY, Wilfred -
Passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Brookfield Hospital, Wilfred Fancy of Wareham, age 79. Predeceased by son, Harvey and daughters, Bonnie and Christine. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Beatrice; sons, Ewert (Maisie) of Labrador City and Max (Joanne); and daughter, Geraldine (Art), all of Wareham, daughter-in-law, Donna of Wareham; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 16th at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Wareham with Reverend Wayne Short officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Church Cemetery in Wareham. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

WHEATON, Jordon -
Passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Jordon Wheaton of Frederickton, age 86. Predeceased by daughter, Betty and son, Clarence. Left to mourn with loving memories are his wife, Annie; sons, Abner (Jane), Byron (Brenda), Eldon (Bessie), Robert (Brenda) Reginald (Judy), Stephen (Tanya); sister, Fannie (Scot), 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 19th at the Pentecostal Church, Carmanville with Pastor and Mrs. R. Durdle, Pastor Allan Wheaton, Pastor Mike Freake, and Pastor and Mrs. Willie Wheaton officiating. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery in Frederickton. Funeral s services entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

SAINSBURY, Cecil John -
Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, Cecil John Sainsbury of Newtown, age 95 years. Predeceased by his parents, William and Louisa Sainsbury; father-in-law, Tomas Bungay; mother-in-law, Annie Bungay. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Alice; sons, Lester (Beatrice) of Labrador City; Derrick (Kim) of Newtown; daughters, Louise Parsons (Ben) of Newtown, Joanne Saleh (Dr. Jamshid Saleh) of Redding, California; grandsons, Dean Parsons, Darren and Dwayne Sainsbury and Bijan Saleh; granddaughter, Kayla Bell; great-granddaughter, Katelyn and Kiara Parsons; and a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service took place on July 20th from St. Luke's Anglican Church, Newtown with Rev. S. O'Connor officiating. Interment followed from St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery, Newtown. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cover/Musgrave Harbour.

DYKE, Gordon Seymour -
Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Sunday, July 22, 2007, Gordon Seymour Dyke of Pool's Island, age 60 years. Predeceased by his father, Nathan Dyke; brother-in-law, Frank Collins. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife, Cynthia; mother, Debbie Dyke of Wareham; sisters, Josie Collins of Dover, Leah Howse (Norman) of Musgravetown, brothers, Melvin (Blanche) of Wareham, Nathan (Lillian) of Badger's Quay, Raymond (Brenda) of Centreville, Spencer (Joyce) of Scarborough, Baxter (Marilyn) of Oshawa, Mike (Angela) of Scarborough, Shawn of Niagara Falls, Frank of Wareham; special aunt, Annie Green of Valleyfield; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Wareham on July 25th with Rev. Wayne short officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Wareham. HODDER, Lester -
Passed away suddenly at Davidsville on July 22, 2007, Mr. Lester Hodder, age 73 years. Predeceased by parents, Llewlyn and Myrtle Hodder; brothers, Scott, Roland, and Aubrey Hodder. Left with loving memories are his wife, Elsie; sons, Terry (Karen) of St. John's, Elvis of St. John's, Randy (Linda) of George's Point, Dwayne of St. John's; daughters, Lydia (Tony Flemming) of Victoria, BC, Madonna (Curtis Cuff) of Paradise, Tracey (Ian Lush) of Paradise, brothers, Lawrence (Phylis) of Rogers Cove, Pearce (Yvonne) of Davidsville; sisters, Florence of Carmanville, Fannie (Calvin Nippard) of Davidsville, Adlaide of Clarkes Head, Laura (Steve Lane) of Davidsville, Melvina (Eugene Blackwood) of Carmanville; sister-in-law, Patsy Hodder of Clarkes Head; grandchildren, Heather, Kimberley, Terri-Lynn, Pamela, Tiffany, Terry, Micheal, Christopher, Brittany, Jayden; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Kaitlyn; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. ROGERS, Samuel Elias -
After a brief illness, passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital Pallative Care Unit, Gander on Sunday, July 22, 2007, Samuel Elias Rogers, in his 90th year. Samuel was born on Silver Fox Island, Bonavista Bay, NL on January 4, 1918, moved to Hare Bay in 1956 and resided at Oram's Emmanuel Manor, Gambo for the past two years. Loving husband of Tryphena Rogers (sixty-six years of marriage); dear brother of Daisy Rogers (Wilfred), Gordon Rogers (Violet) and Josie Button (William); dear father of Garland Rogers (Audrey), Leone Davis (Gordon), Winston Rogers (Geneva), Margaret Burry (late William Burry), and Shirley Rogers (Daniel); dear grandfather, of six grandchildren, Kim Sturge, Troy Rogers, Kent Rogers, Michael Burry, Jeffrey Davis, and Joanne Parsons; dear great-grandfather of six great-grandchildren, Cassandra Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Matthew Rogers, Cassidy Davis, Benjamin Parson and Allison Burry; also left to mourn are a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, William and Emily Rogers; brothers, Percy Rogers and Bela Rogers. Funeral service was held on July 24th at St. Augustine 's Anglican Church, Hare Bay. COOPER, Royal
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on July 23, 2007, Mr. Royal Cooper, age 86 years. Royal was a WW II Veteran pilot. He flew from the 1940's thru to the modern era. He was involved with the North Atlantic Aviation Museum in Gander. He also was a member of Gander 's first town council and acted as Mayor for a short period of time. Mr. Cooper is predeceased by his wife Ella, parents, Obediah and Bertha Cooper, and brother, Bill Cuff. Left with loving memories are his son, Glen (Sadie) of Gander, sisters, Amanda (Jim) of Florida, Valda (Jim) of Brantford ; grandchildren, Jodi Marie Cooper of Halifax, NS, and Michele Lynne Cooper of Toronto, ON. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 26th at Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory may be made to the North Atlantic Aviation Museum, Gander. The North Atlantic Aviation Museum is a non-profit organization completely run by volunteers. WINSOR, Annie Amelia -
Passed peacefully away at The Health Science Centre, St. John's on July 23, 2007, Annie Amelia Winsor of Carmanville, formerly of Wesleyville, aged 61 years. Predeceased by her father, Willis Spurrell and daughter, Joanne Marie. Annie, known to family and friends as Aunt Nance was born at Badger's Quay, NL. She left to mourn with fond and loving memories, her mother, Bessie; three sons, Scott (Donna) of Carmanville, Wes Junior of Ontario. Sheldon (Shelley) of Wesleyvlle; three grandchildren, Ryan, Randy, Robyn; two step-grandchildren, George, Jordon; sister, Marie (Lew Boland) of Pool's Island; nieces, Joanne (Dave), Tina (Scott), Brenda Lee (Tim); great-nephews, Andrew, Patrick, Jacob, Jonah and great-niece, Laurel; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 26th at the Salvation Army Citadel New-Wes-Valley with Captains Barry and Donna Anstey officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Wesleyville. DAWE, Andrew Patrick -
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather, after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, Andrew Patrick Dawe of Kelligrews, formerly of Gander, age 77 years. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Dawe. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Eleanor (nee Sinyard) of 54 years; sons, terry of Calgary, David (Estelle) of Heart's Content, Gerard (Jane) of Calgary, AB, Tony (Darlene) of Whitecourt, AB; daughters, Patsy Sweetapple (Clarence) of Glovertown, Debbie Saunders (Rex) of Gander, Sharon Chaulk (Grant) of Aspen Cove; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Theresa Hynes of Virginia, USA, Bride Thomey (Ron) of Calgary; sister-in-law, Dorothy Funk of Harbour Grace; brother-in-law, Rex Sinyard (Cathy) of Harbour Grace; and a large number of nephews and nieces; also a large circle of friends both here and in Gander. Passed away suddenly at her residence at Gambo on July 29, 2007, Barbara Ann Pickett (nee Hunt), aged 47 years. Predeceased by her mother, Marion Hunt and infant brother. WINTER, Aaron Stephan (Sept. 12, 1958 - July 31, 2007) -
Passed away suddenly at Slave Lake, AB, Aaron Stephan Winter, formerly of Brookfield, Bonavista Bay, NL. Predeceased by his father, Walter Winter in 2001, his mother-in-law, Druie Power in 2002. Left to mourn is his loving and devoted wife, Bernita (Power); his cherished children, Melanie and Jeremy; mother, Ida Winter, brothers, Roland (Carmel), Bill (Ida), Wayne (Patsy), Dwight; sisters, Evan Penton (Pearce), Margaret Bursey (Don), Louise Winter, Marilyn Haggett (Murlyn), Brenda Bennett (Ambrose); father-in-law, Benvie Power; brother-in-law, Scott (Holly); sisters-in-law, Sandra Kean (Brad), Sheila Button (Jeffrey); also many nieces and nephews, friends both in Newfoundland and Slave Lake, AB. Funeral arrangements at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, Slave Lake. Viewing took place at Native Friendship Centre on Thursday, August 2nd and Friday, August 3rd. Funeral service was held on Saturday, August 4th at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, Slave Lake with cremation to follow.
