NORMAN, William -
Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital, July 1, 2004, William Norman of Newtown in his 83rd year. After spending a lifetime at sea, Bill, as he was often referred to by his fellow shipmates, will always be remembered by his family friends. Predeceased by his parents, John and Edith; and brother, Nathan. Leaving to mourn his wife, Iona; daughters, Betty (Stanley) Carberry, Harcourt, Ruth (Edward) Joy, Hammonds Plains, NS; son, Frank (Daphne), Grand Falls-Windsor, grandchildren, Brian and Jerry; Matthew, Katherine and Michael; David, Krista and Geoffrey; brother, Herbert (Kerenhappuch), Wesleyville. Funeral service was held on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Newtown. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Newtown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Luke's Anglican Church Memorial Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

NORMAN, David -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late David Norman, age 45 years of Newtown, announce is sudden passing on July 1, 2004. Predeceased by his grandparents, John and Edith Norman; Benjamin and Kerenhappuch Sturge. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his parents, Herbert and Kerenhappuch of Wesleyville; brothers, Leonard Norman (Wanda) of Newtown, Nathan Norman (Carolyn) of St. John's; sisters, Edith Breen (James) of St. John's, Shirley Ricketts (Wayne) of Wesleyville; nieces, Angela, Melissa and Amanda; nephews, Ryan, Stephen and Matthew; very special friend, Terry Gill, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 5th at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Newtown with Rev. V. Reid officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Newtown. Donations in his memory may be made to the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

GILLINGHAM, Wallace -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on July 2, 2004, Mr. Wallace Gillingham, age 60 years. Left with loving memories are his loving companion, Maureen Bryan, mother, Beatrice Gillingham, sons, Derek (Paula), Victoria Cove, Barry (Janice), Cox's Cove; daughters, Connie (Wendell), Gander, Brenda (Dean), Appleton; brother, Hayward (Lena), Glenwood; sisters, Edna Nippard, Gander, Sylvia Day (Larry), Glenwood, Audrey Shea (Bev), Glenwood; grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Mitchell, Tiffany, Brianna, Jaylyn Gillingham, Jaden Bryan, great-grandchild, Mackenzie Gillingham and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on Sunday, July 4th from the Anglican Church, Glenwood. Interment Anglican Cemetery, Glenwood. Donations in his memory can be made to Newfoundland Cancer Treatment Research foundation (H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center). KEAN, Tanya Annette -
Passed peacefully away at the Janeway Children's Hospital, St. John's, Tanya Annette Kean, aged 25 years of Lumsden. Predeceased by her father, Hubert Kean; sister, Wanda Kean; grandparents, Thomas and Amelia Kean; and grandfather, Everett West. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her mother, Margaret of Lumsden; brother, Eugene of Gander; sister, Faye (Pat Goodyear) of Goulds; grandmother, Myrtice West of Lumsden; nieces, Kristie Goodyear, Goulds, Ashley Kean, Gander; nephews, Trent Goodyear, Edmonton, Alberta, Justin Kean, Gander, Adam Kean, Gander; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 3rd from Wesley United Church, Lumsden with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Interment followed from the United Church Cemetery, Lumsden. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

REID, John -
Passed peacefully away on July 6, 2004 at the Health Science Centre in St. John's, surrounded by his family, John Reid, age 62 years, formerly of Grand Falls-Windsor. Predeceased by his parents, Philip and Lauretta Reid and infant son, Matthew. Leaving to mourn is spouse, Elizabeth Stroud, daughter, Amanda and son, Adam, grandson, Christopher, sisters, Verbena (Gerald Philips), Lewisporte, Dorothy May (Vince Burton), St. John's, Donna (Glyn Jones), Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Judy (Fred Ivany), Gander, and Susanne (Allan Hillier), Grand Falls-Windsor and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held at the St. Matthew's United Church, Lewisporte on July 9th. Donations may be made to the Newfoundland & Labrador Lung Association, Pulmonary Fibrosis Research division. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte.

WEST, Edward -
Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander on July 6, 2004, Mr. Edward West, formerly of Ladle cove, age 88 years. Predeceased by parents, William and Ida West, sister, Daisy Head, grandson, Kyle Head. Left with loving memories are his wife, Mollie; sons, Bill (Eileen), Gander, daughters, Margaret (Harry) Chaulk, Ladle Cove, Jaquelene (Aubrey), Calgary, Alberta, Angela (Jack Pinsent) Cornwall, ON; brothers, Garfield (Myrtice), David (Marion), Ladle Cove; sisters, Nina Hinphey, St. John's, Juanita (Donald) Pinsent, St. John's, Ivy (Wallace) Harvey, Carmanville, Alva Young, Deer Lake, Fanny (Joe) Angel, Noggin Cove; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. FIRMAGE, Clarence Chesley Rex
September 25, 1965 - July 7, 2004

Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at his residence in Wareham, Clarence Chesley Rex Firmage, age 38 years. Predeceased by sister, Margaret. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Kyle, daughter, Ashley, and parents, Kenneth and Sarah, brothers, Arthur (Margaret); Herman (Mary), Pat (Clara), Gilbert (Carrie), Clayton (Beulah), Wallace, Kenneth (Bessie), Maxwell (Violet), Dwight (Christine), Frank (Glenda), Andy (Tanya); sisters, Mae Button (Mark), Shirley Perry (Tom), Marlene Firmage, 26 nieces and nephews, theirs husbands and wives and their children, totaling 25, and a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 10th from the Anglican Church, Wareham with Rev. S. Rose officiating. Interment followed from the Anglican Cemetery, Wareham. BLACKWOOD, Norman -
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, on Saturday, July 10, 2004, Norman Blackwood of Wesleyville, age 74 years. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Alma Blackwood; brother, Leonard Blackwood. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Martha; son, Wade (Rosalyn), Mt. Pearl; daughter, Marilyn Skinner (Riley), Bay D'Espoir; brother, Gerald (Ethel), Gander; sisters, Triffie Humphries (Walter), Brookfield, Anita Guzzwell (Melvin), Mt. Pearl, Millie Ryan (Donald), St. John's, Gloria Ivany (William), Goulds; grandchildren, Jonathan, Justin, Andrew, Ashley, Jana, Stephen; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville, on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 with Rev. Heather Sandford officiating. Interment followed at the United Cemetery, Wesleyville. PRITCHETT, Elsie Verna (nee Lane) -
Passed away suddenly at her home in Gander on July 11, 2004, Elsie Verna Pritchett, age 76 years. Although suffering from many health problems, her death came as a shock to friends and family. She is predeceased by her husband, Ben of Gander; son, Gerry of Gander, parents, Ron and Katie Lane of Eastport, sister Agnes (Powell) of Dunville. Left with precious memories are her daughter, Gaye (friend Larry) of Gander, special son/grandson, Ben (Dawn) of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law, Connie, Gander; grandson, Christopher of Toronto, ON, grandaughter, Christina of Fredericton, NB; sister, Nora (Penney) and family of Grand Falls-Windsor; brother-in-law, Alister (Powell) and family of Eastport; sister-in-law, Daphne (Lane) and family of Dunville; special friend, Marjorie (Hiscock) of Gander, and a large circle of family and friends throughout Newfoundland and Canada. Funeral services were held at St. Martin's Cathedral on Thursday, July 15, 2004. Interment at All Saints Cemetery in Gander. The service was officiated by Reverends Hewitt, Meade, and Bullen, with participation by Reverend Dr. Edison Wilshire and Pastor Calvin Hollett. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home Limited, Gander.

ABBOTT, Tobias -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on July 12, 2004, Mr. Tobias Abbott, age 80 years. Predeceased by his first wife, Alma, 1995. Left with loving memories are his second wife, Donna, sons, Ivan (Kim) of Pickering, ON, Stephen (Terry-Ann) of Gander, Roger (Debbie) of Gambo; daughter, Sheila (Boyce) Abbott of Gander; brothers, William , Eli (Bessie), Edward (Alva), James (Betty), Chesley (June), all of Musgrave Harbour; sister, Maggie Landon, Botwood; nine grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on Thursday, July 15th from the Salvation Army church, Musgrave Harbour. Interment Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour. DOOLEY, Leo -
Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on July 13, 2004, Mr. Leo Dooley in his 77th year. Mr. Dooley is predeceased by his father, William J, mother, Mary J; sister, Ellen (Nellie) Dwyer, sons, Billy and Philip Dooley (March 6, 2004). Left to remember his sense of humor and warm loving smile is wife, Linda; sons, John and special friend, Diane Taylor, Corner Brook; daughters, Theresa Cromwell, Trenton, ON; Grace (Richard Frampton), Petawawa, ON; Cynthia Dooley, Gander; sisters, Marina (Benny Crooks), Winnipeg, MB, Carmel (Marcel Lemay), Westbank, BC; grandchildren, Scott, Sherry-Lynn, Erika, Aaron, Amanda, Adrian, Robin; three great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Iris Dooley, Angus, ON; special niece, Trudy (Ron Kelly) and Kaitlyn, Gander. Leo will be missed by many family and friends. Funeral service was held on Friday, July 16th from the Salvation Army church, Gander. Interment All Saints Cemetery. RODGERS, Valance Clyde -
Passed away suddenly on July 11, 2004 on the M.V. Keewatin at Bonne Bay, NL, Vallance Clyde Rodgers of Pool's Island, age 53. Predeceased by his mother, Florence. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Sylvia; sons, Jimmy, St. John's, Jeremy (Krystal), Conception Bay South; daughter, Melanie, St. John's; father, Hubert, Pool's Island; brothers, Hubert and Wayne, both of North West Territories, Curtis (Betty), Thompson, Manitoba, Douglas and Scott, both of Toronto, Ontario; sisters, Vivian Phillips, Fran Hill (Jack), Ann Pickett (Meryl), Cindy Rodgers (Alban), Florence Ballerino, Gail Rodgers (John), Denise Barkhouse (Stephen), all of Toronto, Ontario and Kimberly Stokes (Kevin), Cape Freels. Funeral service was held on July 14th at the Anglican Church, Pool's Island with Rev. J. Watton officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Pool's Island. BROWN, Gwendolyn Mary (nee Ralph) -
Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, Gwendolyn Mary Brown (nee Ralph) of Salvage, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by her husband, Harold of 46 years. Leaving to mourn and lovingly remembered by her friend and partner, Wallace Oldford, Salvage. Loved by daughters, Ruth Doyon (Michael), Gander, Louise Troke (Eric), Gander, Pauline Budgell (Ivan), Brantford, Ontario, Sheila Critchley (Bruce), Salvage, Denise Oldford, Gander, much loved by her 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Wesley Lambert, Sudbury, Ontario and Ed Oldford, Collingwood, Ontario; special brothers, Norm Brown (Mary), St. John's, and Enos Brown (Patsy), Salvage; also leaving with fond and loving memories her friends whom she spoke with daily and her special friend, Violet May Brown, Salvage.
Rev. 21;4 - And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.

WINTERS, Barbara -
Passed away peacefully at her residence in Pound Cove on July 13, 2004, Barbara Winters, age 67 years. Predeceased by her husband, Charles Elijah Winters. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter, Olive Tizzard (John), Moose Jaw, Sask; sons, Marvin, Pound Cove, Randy (Tina), Green's Harbour, Barry (Susan), P.E.I., Russell (Mary-Ann), Calgary, AB, Kevin (Trace Colbourne), St. John's; grandchildren, Sylvia, Natasha, Olive, Barry-Justin, Tracey, Hannah Jane, Stacey; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Thursday, July 15th at the United Church, Wesleyville, officiated by CSM Hardy Chippett. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Wesleyville. Donations in her memory may be made to The Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

ABBOTT, Dolph -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on July 15, 2004, Dolph Abbott of Musgrave Harbour, age 93 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Marie; sons, Christ Abbott (Karen) of Burnaby, B.C.; daughters, Dona Noseworthy (Earl) of Musgrave Harbour, Bernice Abbott (Clarence) of Musgrave Harbour and Diane Abbott of Fall River, N.S.; sister-in-law, June Watton (Roy) of Gander, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and their families as well as friends in Musgrave Harbour and Gander. A memorial service was held at the Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour on Wednesday, July 28th at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the Jehovah Witness Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Found. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

WINTER, Olive -
Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital, on Friday, July 16, 2004, Olive Winter of Valleyfield, age 67 years. Predeceased by her parents, George and Josephine Howell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are here husband, Edward; sons, Harry (Christine), Scott (Maggie), Ralph (Cathy), Paul (Carol Ann), all of Valleyfield; daughter, Tonia Winter (Jeff) of Twillingate; granddaughters, Coralynn Winter, Kristan Best (Darryl); grandsons, Michael Winter (Vicki), Bradley Winter (Amanda), Jeffery Winter, Wallace Winter, James Winter; great-granddaughters, Joe Marie, Taylor, Carly; brothers, Fred Howell (Maggie) of Pound Cove, Charlie Howell (Shirley) of Deadman's Bay, Horwood Howell (Laura) of Kelligrews; sisters, Lillian Norris (Arch) of Templeman, Leah Jefferies of Lewisporte, Eleanor Hunt of Ontario, Emma Cooze (Stanley) of Brookfield, Marjorie winter of Badger's Quay and a large circle of other relatives and friends. GOULDING, Mavis (nee Cobb) -
Passed suddenly but peacefully away on July 19, 2004 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Goulding, Mavis (nee Cobb), age 68 years. Leaving to mourn with warm and loving memories are his three sons, Jordan (Patricia), Garry (Martha), Kevin (Susan); four daughters, Elizabeth Gill (Fred), Christine Pritchett (Frank), Glenda Payne (Gerald), Kimberly Skiffington (Gary); two brothers, Theodore and Aaron; three sisters, Elizabeth Legge, Margaret Wiseman and Cordella Goulding; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was held at the Salvation Army Church, Gambo on Wednesday, July 21st. Services entrusted to Pritchett's Funeral Home.

JANES, Cecil -
Passed peacefully away at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, on July 20, 2004, Cecil Janes of Pool's Island, age 85 years. Predeceased by his wife, Minnie; brothers, Arthur, George and William; daughter-in-law, Barbara. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sons, Wilbur (Louise) of Clarenville, Mackenzie of Mount Pearl, Calvin (Eileen) of Pool's Island; daughter, Daphne (Peter Winsor) of Pool's Island; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 22nd from St. James Anglican Church, Pool's Island with Rev. John Watton officiating. Interment followed from the Anglican Cemetery, Pool's Island. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. James Anglican church, Pool's Island. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

THOMAS, John L. Sr. -
Passed away on July 23, 2004 at the age of 71. Left to mourn are his loving wife, Margaret, sons, John (Gaylene) and Rodney (Roxanne); daughters, Eileen Lynch (Ernest), Wanda Sparkes, Rosemary Matchim (Hubert), Judy Hawco (Allan), Janet Thomas, Tracey Taite (Keith); 18 grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service took place on July 27th at the Salvation Army Citadel in Glovertown. Donations may be made to the Glovertown Fire Department in his memory.

MOSS, James -
Passed away July 29, 2004 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, James Moss in his 80th year. Left with loving memories are his wife, Jessie; daughter, Julia and husband, Jerry of Eastport; daughter, Audrey and husband, Dan of Fort McMurray, Alberta; granddaughter, Lori, and grandson, Tyler of Fort McMurray, Alberta; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.

NOBLE, Andre Clarence -
It is with great sadness that the Noble family of Centreville announce the sudden passing of their loved one, Andrew Noble, age 25 years. Predeceased by his mother, Maud; grandparents, Fred Noble, Frederica Rogers and Cyril Rogers. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his father, William (Wendy) and brother, Shane (Kelly) of Centreville; aunts and uncles, Chesley Noble (Susie), Jonie March (Carson), Winston Rogers (Jose), Jane Pickett (Seward), Emma Collins (Sherman), all of Centreville; cousins, Shawn, Tanya, Guy, Sherry, Sherman, Shannon, Chantale, Sheena, Cyril, Johann and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Centreville on Monday, August 2nd with Rev. Sam Rose officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Centreville. Donations in his memory may be made at any branch of the Royal Bank for the Sir Wilfred Grenfell School of Fine Arts, Corner Brook. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.
