VINCENT, Laura Jean -
Passed peacefully away on July 1, 2002, at the Brookfield Hospital, Laura Jean Vincent of Valleyfield, age 71 years. Predeceased by her parents Ena and Ephriam Whalen; sister Anita Vincent; and brother-in-law Charles Vincent. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Alfred; sons, Chester (Geraldine) of Valleyfield, Paul (Beverley) of Paradise; daughter Eileen Vincent of Valleyfield, brother Thomas Whalen (Joan) of Gander; sister Ida Stokes (Eric) of Lumsden; grandchildren, Angela, Jason, Steven, Kendra; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 3rd at the United church, Valleyfield with Rev. Miriam Bowlby officiating, assisted by Rev. Tony Cole. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Valleyfield. Donations in her memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove.

BISHOP, Sterling (January 6, 1934 - July 2, 2002) -
Passed peacefully away on July 2, 2002 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Sterling Bishop of Cavendish, Trinity Bay, in his 68th year. Predeceased by parents William and Gertrude; brothers, John, Harold, Walter and Maxwell; and sisters-in-law, Florrie and Esther Bishop. Left to mourn are two brothers, Soloman and Harrison (Alma); two sisters, Nellie (Allan) Reid and Dorothy (Reuben) Bryant; two sisters-in-law, Lizzie and Violet Bishop; and a large number of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 4th in Cavendish, Trinity Bay at the Church of The Good Shepherd. Donations in his memory gratefully accepted to Sterling Bishop Memorial Fund, c/o Nellie Reid (sister) in Gander. Nellie Reid (sister) in Gander. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Dildo.

JANES, Hilda Margaret -
Passed peacefully away on July 3, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Hilda Margaret Janes, age 82 years. Predeceased by her infant son Raymond, parents Edgar and Florence Briffett, and brothers William and David. Left with fond and loving memories husband William; sons, Robert (Angela) of Allison, NB, Eric(Barbara) of Rothesay, NB, Gerald (Joan) of Glovertown, Harold (Lucie) of St. Lazare, PQ; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother Leroy (Rita) Briffett of Glovertown; sisters, Myrtis (Fred) Budgell of Botwood, Rita (Bob) Armstrong of Washington, Betty (Charles) Spackman of Ottawa, ON, Lydia (Bill-deceased) Hayward of Mississauga, ON, Shirley (Toby) Baker of California; sisters-in-law, Kathline and Margaret Briffett of Saute-Ste-Marie, ON; and a large number of friends and relatives. Funeral service was held on July 6th at Glovertown Central United Church. Interment at Glovertown Central United Church Cemetery. PENNELL, Maxwell A. -
Passed peacefully away on July 3, 2002, Maxwell A. Pennell, age 84 years. Predeceased by his sister Neata and brother Oswald. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Phyllis; three sons, Ern (Flora), Wayne (Victoria), Don (Anne); one daughter Elizabeth Walters (Reg); two brothers, Dorman (Doris), Scott (Fannie); sister-in-law Verna Pennell, Ontario; brother-in-law Maxwell Flight (Dorothy) Manitoba; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 6th at Memorial United Church, Pouch Cove. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Pouch Cove. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. BLACKMORE, Ada May -
Passed peacefully away on July 6, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mrs. Ada May Blackmore in her 90th year. Mrs. Blackmore is predeceased by husband Samuel (1997); daughter Adelaide Sophia; parents Joseph and Harriet Norris; sisters, Laura Burry and Sophia Boland; and brother Percy Norris. Left with fond and loving memories are daughters Ella Blackmore of Gander, Ruby and husband Larry Holloway of Gander; sister Nellie and husband Chesley Rodgers of Gander; sister-in-law Marion Norris of Gander; grandchildren, Lisa (Steven Lawrence), Lori (Darren Reid); great-grandchildren Kyle, Kristal, Kaitlyn; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place July 8th at St. Martin's Anglican Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. STOYLES, David -
Passed peacefully away on July 8, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mr. David Stoyles in his 84th year. Predeceased by brothers Edmond and Olin. Left with loving memories are wife Daisy of Gander; son Andy (Elsie) of Gander; brother Francis (Nita) of Hillview; sisters, Ena (Jim) Parrot of St. John's, Jane (George) Buckley of Oshawa; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jeremy and Joshua of Gander; sisters-in-law Rita and Dorothy Stoyles of Hillview, Mary Frost (Levi) of Hillview, Amelia Baker of Bishop Falls. Funeral service was held on July 10 at Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Arrangements through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

OLDFORD, Ivy -
Passed peacefully away on July 8, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Ivy Oldford of Valleyfield, age 78 years. Predeceased by her husband Job; parents Charles and Ellie Vincent; and brother Cyril. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are stepson Alpheaus (Elsie) of Badger's Quay; stepdaughter Alice Williams (Rennee) of Ontario; sister-in-law Joan Vincent of Templeman; two nephews, Charles and Harry; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; special cousin Allan and Betty Vincent of Newtown; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 11th at St. Alban's Anglican Church, Badger's Quay. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Badger's Quay. LANE, Roland -
Passed peacefully away on July 11, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Roland Lane of Gambo, age 83. Veteran of the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit. He will sadly missed by his loving wife Maisie of 57 years; his children, Rosemary (Ed) Hunt of Mount Pearl, Dennis (Audrey)of Gambo, Mervin (Elizabeth) of Bowmanville, ON, Melita Politeski of St. John's, Gerald (Ivy) of Gambo, and Valda of Calgary; nine grandchildren, Brian, Dennis, Ryan, Sherrie, Scott, Jasmine, Blake, Mitchell and Jared; and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service was held on July 14th at the United Church, Gambo. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery. Arrangments entrusted to the care of Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo.

HOUNSELL, Allan -
Passed peacefully away on July 17, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Allan Hounsell of Pound Cove, age 61 years. Predeceased by parents Edgar and Gwendolyn Hounsell; sister Fannie Best. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Irene (nee Hoyles); sons; Dwight (Terri-Ann), Gander, Jim (Denise), Wesleyville and Craig (Amy Dowding), Pound Cove; daughters; Sandra Pope (Willis), Poole's Island and Roxanne (Mike Boland), Pound Cove; brothers: Aarron (Emma), Pound Cove, Lloyd (Myra), Valleyfield, Herbert (Rita) Upper Gullies and Ronald (Marie), Brampton, Ont.; sister Daisy (William Dowding), Mount Pearl; seven grandchildren; Kayla, Jordan, Marcus, Michael, Gregory, Nicholas and Victoria; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 20th, 2002 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Pound Cove with Rev. V. Reid officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Pound Cove. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

HART, Marjorie -
Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes on July 20, 2002, Mrs. Marjorie Hart in her 78th year. Predeceased by her husband Harold (1996). Left with fond and loving memories are sons: Lloyd (Alice) of Gander, Eric of Summerford, Scott (Helen) of Brampton, Ont., and Bruce of Brampton, Ont., Brian of Brampton, Ont., and Darren (Sherry) of Brampton, Ont.; daughters: Marion (Roy) of Lewisporte and Gertie of Brampton, Ont.; brothers, Wilfred (Blanche) of Carmanville, Maxwell of Stoneville and Norman (Emma) of Stoneville; sisters, Olive of California and Dora of California; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on July 22nd, 2002 at the United church in Stoneville. Donations can be made to the United Church, Stoneville or the Lakeside Homes Special Care Unit. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

CARTER, Sarah Lavina -
Passed peacefully away on July 21, 2002 at the Interfaith Home, Corner Brook, Sarah Lavina Carter, age 90. Predeceased by her husband Frederick Carter (January 16, 1998); brother Captain Herbert Parsons; and sister-in-law Nita Parsons. She will be remembered with fond and loving memories by her son Regionald Carter (Sharon), Corner Brook; daughters; Violet Gregory (Winston), Orrila, Ont., Elizabeth Reeve (Richard), Washington, Margaret Brenner (John), Whiting, Iowa, Audrey Carberry (Ross), Corner Brook and Sandra Taylor, Halifax, N.S.;19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother Edgar Parsons; sister Marie Blackwood (Jim); sister-in-law Kathleen Parsons; and numerous nieces, nephew and friends. A private family service was held June 23, 2002. WALSH, Joseph -
Passed peacefully away on July 21, 2002, Joseph Walsh in his 70th year of St. Brendan's. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Johanna; brothers John, Frank, Nick and Ned; daughters Carol and Darlene. Left with loving memories are wife Leonce of St. Brendan's, sons, Kevin (Teena) of Flatrock, Gregory of St. Brendan's, Aloysius (Carol of Glenwood, Steven (Patricia) of St. John's, Dion (Tara) of Wawa, ON; daughters, Sharon (Ron) of St. Brendan's, Margaret of Goose Bay; sisters, Kathleen of St. Brendan's, Margaret (Pat) of St. John's; sister-in-law Agnes of St. Brendan's; also a large number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on July 23rd, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Frederick Osborne, age 77. Predeceased by parents, Martin and Mary Osborne; brothers, Edward, John and Gordon; sister Elizabeth. He will be remembered with fond and loving memories by his wife Helen; sons, Frederick (Judy), Donald (Penny), Mervin (Joyce), and Jerry (Cathy); daughter Lori (Rod); brother Howard; sister Margaret Goulding; step-sister Vera Wyatt; and step-brothers, Cyril, Lewis and Wilfred Janes; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held on July 26th at Olivet United Church, Traytown. Donations may be made to the Newfoundland Labrador Lung Association. GALLAHUE, Alphonsus -
Passed peacefully away on July 24, 2002 at Lakeside Homes in gander, Mr. Alphonsus Gallahue, formerly of Stock Cove, Bonavista Bay in his 88th year. Predeceased by sister Margaret; brothers Joey and Jimmy. Left with warm and loving memories are his wife Bernadette; sons, Gus and wife Rosalind of Dartmouth, N.S., Thomas and wife Kathleen of Ottawa, ON, daughters, Vera and husband Wayne Stott of Dartmouth, N.S., Sadie and husband Glen Cooper of St. John's, brother Clem of New Jersey; sister Nora Dwyer of Long Island, New York; grandchildren Sean, Laurie, Christopher, Jodi, Michele, and Jayson; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral mass was held on July 27th at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery, Gander. Donations may be made to Lakeside Homes Nursing Care Unit. OSMOND, George -
Passed peacefully away on July 28, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mr. George Osmond in his 65th year. Predeceased by parents Walter and Pearl, and brother-in-law, George Burry. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Angela; sons, Nelson and wife Gwen of Gander, Jeff of Gander; daughters, Joy and husband Terry Arnold of Glovertown, Wanda and husband Thomas Temple of Gander; brothers, Nelson of Gambo, Ralph and wife Maisie of Gander, Raymond and wife Georgina of Goulds, Walter and wife Ann of Whitecourt, Alberta; sisters, Grace and husband Bill Tucker of St. Anthony, Joyce Burry of Gander, Mary and husband Robert Warren of Halifax, Effie Osmond of Hudson, Quebec; Ruby and husband Wolfe Bauerochse of Powell River, BC., Laura and husband Brian Tibbo of Gander; seven grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. LANE, LESTER D. -
Passed peacefully away on July 29, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, after a hard and courageous battle with cancer, Lester Lane of Gambo, (formerly of Braggs Island), age 80 years. Predeceased by four brothers, Harry, Edgar, William and Stewart; three sisters, Anne, Bertha and Esther. Left to mourn are his loving and devoted wife Gertie; two daughters, Lorraine Thistle (Carson) of St. John's, Cathy Collins (Leo Ennis) of Gander; one brother Roland of Glovertown; four grandchildren, Donna Power (Gord) of St. John's, Craig thistle (Marina) of Regina, Sask., Trevor Thistle (Erin) of Calgary, Alta., and Brian Collins of Gander; five grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on July 31, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Edwin (Lloyd) Ralph of Sandringham, age 63. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Doris; daughter Kim (Lindsay); son Shawn; granddaughter Kayla; one Uncle Harry (Joyce) Pike of Glovertown; one aunt Mae Dawe of Bareneed; two sisters-in-law, Clara and Angella (Richard); three nieces, Pamela (Ross), Sarah and Alexa; one nephew Thomas (Luanne); cousins; and a large number of friends. Funeral Service was held at the Church of Resurrection, Sandringham. Interment at church of the Resurrection Cemetery, Sandringham.
