OLDFORD, Donald N. -
89 of Trinity, formerly of Valleyfield, passed peacefully away, surrounded
by his family on January 1, 2010 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander.
Predeceased by his first wife, Olive; son, Gerald Sr.; wife, Rachel; son,
Donald Jr.; and grandson, Gerald. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories
are children, Howard (Carole), Olive, Gloria (Fred), Bill (Carol), Melvin
(Marg), Rhonda (Keith), Gerald (Annette) and stepson, Terry (Ruth); sisters,
Jeminah, Florence (art) and brother, John (Marg). Also leaving to mourn are
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and an numerous number of relatives
and friends. Special thanks to the staff of riverhead Towers, St. John's;
staff of Baywatch Manor, Glovertown; and doctors and staff of the Medical
Unit and Palliative Care at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander. Rested

KEATS, Olive Nellie (Wiseman) (July 15, 1920 - January 2, 2010) -
Nellie (Mom) passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in
Gander on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the age of 89. She was continuously
surrounded by her loving children and many friends. Nellie was born at Wellington
(Dover) on July 15, 1920, the daughter of Annie and George Keats. As a young
woman she moved to Botwood where she met and married Raymond Langdon who
predeceased her before their son, Raymond was born. In 1944 Nellie moved back to Dover where she married ElijahWiseman. Three
families became one and included Raymond (Theresa), nine children with Elijah;
Germey (Pauline), Frazer (Trixie), Robert (Jean), Annie (Simon), Elijah (Melinda),
Mary (Jim), Gloria (deceased), Lyndon (Marilyn), Fronie (Kurt) and two stepchildren,
Effie (Gladstone deceased) and Fred (Margaret). Nellie was blessed with many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elijah predeceased Nellie on July 6,
1966. This loving family was further enlarged when Nellie married Abram Keats
on April 20, 1990. Abe predeceased Nellie on January 1, 2003. Nellie was a faithful soldier of the Salvation Army Dover Corps (enrolled
on April 23, 1947) for 62 years. Nellie was very active in the Corps and was
known for her quick smile and loving kindness.
Nellie will forever be remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all those who supported
them in any way with prayer, cards, food, monetary gifts, visits and well wishes.
Nellie's funeral was held at the Salvation Army Citadel in Dover. A special
thanks to Majors David and Wavey Chaulk of the Dover Corps, Captain Austin
and Major Lillian Randell of the Hare Bay Corps and Captain Sheldon Bungay
of the Wesleyville Corps for conducting a beautiful service. The family would
also like to thank the home care workers, Brenda Keats and Christine Brown
for their loving care for our mother. A special thanks to the wonderful doctors,
nurses and staff of the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander and the staff
of Oram's Funeral Home for your warm care and support.

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's, NL on Monday,
January 4, 2010, Shirley (Eddy) Quigley, age 68 years. Predeceased by her
father, Charles Eddy; mother, Julia Eddy (nee Stoyles) and father of children,
Lester Vey. Leaving to mourn her husband, Harold Quigley; daughters, Lovie
(Brian), Debbie (Clyde); sons, Scott, Duane (Heather); brothers, Stewart
(Melvina), LeRoy (Sharron), Randy (Chris); sisters, Elizabeth (Nick), Patricia
(Claude); stepchildren, Darrel (Cindy), Wayne (Emilie), Kyla (Rob); twelve

Passed away at Brookfield Hospital on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, Mr.
Jean Abbott of Musgrave Harbor in her 80th year. Predeceased
by her husband, Leo; parents, Isaac and Fannie Abbott; three sons-in-law, Douglas
Abbott, Dennis Abbott and Martin Mouland; and brother, Wallace Abbott. Left
to mourn with fond and loving memories are her four daughters, Goldie Hill
(Morgan) of Wesleyville, Velma Abbott (Rick) of Aspen Cove, Betty Abbot of
Musgrave Harbor and Cheryl Mouland of Foxtrap; one brother, Clarence Abbot
of Carmanville; one sister, Rosemarie Flynn of Musgrave Harbor; nine grandchildren,
Rodney, Dwight, Roxanne, Ryan, Travis, Shauna, Blair, Patrick and Faron; nine
great-grandchildren, Mark, Eva, Douglas, Andrew, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Dawson, Mika

Richard Brett Thornhill,
aged 56, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn with fond
and loving memories his wife, Debbie; stepdaughter, Angela (Randy Seaward);
grandson, Evan William James (''Little Willie"); parents, Lloyd
and Patricia, St. Luke's Home, St. John's; brothers, Jim (Linda) of Gander,

of Labrador City; in-laws; Ray and Vera Ludlow of Grand Falls-Windsor, Darlene

On the table of a quaint Barr'd Islands kitchen lay a bowl of lopscouse, a
cup of tea and a lassy bun. After a day of bucking carrots and cutting his
initials into splitting tables, Jim heard his mother calling him homeā¦.
Passed away at home surrounded by those who loved him, James
Anderson Combden of Badger's Quay, aged 67 years. An inspirational
teacher for 30 years. A devoted Lion for 35 years. An Anglican Lay Minister
since the age of 16. An avid golfer. A passionate writer. A political commentator.
A lover of nature and Newfoundland books. A doer. A dreamer. A joker and most
importantly, a loyal partner to Shirley (nee Stagg) for 37 years. Father to
Glen (Peggy) Combden and Vicki (Andrew) Murphy. "Poppy Jim" to
Jack and Sam Combden, and Max Murphy. A much adored uncle, brother, son, brother-in-law,
cousin, nephew, and friend. A positive force in the lives of many. A colourful
character unique to the world. A truly remarkable person all the days of his
life. The legend of the Fogo Island Boy shall live on and on. Funeral service
