Passed away peacefully at Brookfield Hospital on Tuesday, January
2, 2008, Baxter Parsons, age 82 years of Badger’s Quay.
Predeceased by his wife, Julia; parents, John and Clementine Parsons;
brothers, John and William; sisters, Mary Carter, Bessie Burry and
Josephine Parsons. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are

Homes, Gander, Josephine Briffett of Glovertown in her
99th year. Her funeral took place at Faith United Church, Glovertown
on January 15th. She is predeceased by her husband, John; three sisters,
four brothers; and one great-grandchild. She leaves to mourn daughters,
Betty (Wilf) Parsons of Bloomfield, May (Ray) Babstock of Happy Adventure;
son, Robert (Judy) of Glovertown; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;

GILL, Alice Marie –
Passed peacefully away on January 12, 2008, Mrs. Alice
Marie Gill of Biggar, Saskatchewan, formerly of Myrnam, at
the age of 72 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband
of 53 years, Gerry; five daughters and one son, Debra Gill, Heather
Gill and Cherri (Ron) Delmage, all of Yellowknife, NWT, Pat (Mitch)
Chychul of Myrnam, Barb (Russell) Smereka of St. Paul and John (Christine)
Gill of Edmonton; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Christa, Brandie, Corey,
Jordan, Travis and Briana; three sisters and one brother, Lillian Gilbert,
Gertrude Banfield, Frances Toms and Ralph Angel; also numerous nieces
and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Blanche Angel;
three brothers, Ernest, Edward and Ashmore Angel; and grandson, Shane
Chychul. A Celebration of Alice’s life was held Thursday, January
17th at Yewchin’s Funeral Chapel, St. Paul. Reverend Keith Marsh

GOULDING, Eric –
The family of Eric Goulding are saddened to announce
Eric’s passing on January 15, 2008. Surrounded
by his family, Eric passed away in palliative care at the L.A. Miller
Centre after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Eric
is predeceased by his son, Carl (September 25, 2006); his father, Roland
Goulding and his brother, Carl. Eric’s passing is mourned by his
wife, Bonnie and his daughter, Kelly (Danny) Scaplen and two grandsons,
Tyler and Ryan. Eric also leaves to mourn his mother, Florrie and his
brothers and sisters, Maude Kelloway, Doreen (Max) Ryan, Ray (Lynn) Goulding,
Marjorie (Winston) Carter, June (Tony) Hunt, Lorne (Brenda) Goulding,
Janice (Doug) Lush, Cheryl (Cameron) Kelly and Alvin Goulding. Also mourning
Eric’s passing are his brothers and sisters-in-law, frank (Bridget)
Kelly, Pat Kelly, Bill (Karm) Kelly, Kevin (Elva) Kelly, Gordon ( Enid)
Kelly, Don (Fran) Kelly, Kay Carter, Loretta (David) Perry, Rita (George)
Kinden and Marie (Rick) Goldrup. Also mourning Eric’s passing is
a large contingent of cousins, other relatives, many close friends and
all members of the Gambo Fire Department. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to Caul’s Funeral Home at 84 LeMarchant Road in St. John’s
and Pritchett’s Funeral Home in Gambo. In recognition of his 40
years of dedicated service to the Gambo Fire Department, Eric also rested
at the Fire Hall in Gambo. Funeral services were held in Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Gambo on Friday, January 18th with interment
to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Hospital, Winnie Dorothy Sturge, age 87 years of Wesleyville.
Predeceased by her husband, Job; parents, Edward and Amelia Winsor; brothers,
George and Edward; brother-in-law, John Winsor (Jack); sons-in-law, Malcolm
Parsons and Hubert Sturge; sister-in-law, Gladys Winsor. Left to mourn

George Peckford, age 85 years of Clarke’s Head, Gander
Bay. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Alice Peckford; brothers,
Heber, Arthur, Leslie, and Andrew; sisters, Rita, Effie, Annie, Louise,
Marjorie, Olive, Lucy; and granddaughter, Tammy Harbin-Hayes. Leaving
to mourn with fond and loving memories are his devoted wife, Flora; sons,
Evelyn (Maisie), David (Karen), Calvin, Clifford (Rosie); daughters,

Passed peacefully away on January 30, 2008 at Chancellor
Park, St. John's, Matthew Francis Fitzpatrick, aged
85. Formerly a resident of Gander, retiree of Gander Aeradio after 34
years of service, member of the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis Club, St.
Joseph's Church Choir, the Six Pack Singers, and a longtime community
volunteer. Predeceased by his wife, Julia (Dunphy) and son, Michael.
Leaving to mourn his sons, Brian, Glen and Jamie; grandchildren, Morgain,
Ann, Julia, Rachel, Laura, Matthew and James; daughters-in-law, Jackie
and Danine; brother, William as well as many other relatives, friends,
and retirees from “Signals.” Resting at Stacey's

at 2:00 P.M. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Interment

POWELL, Eli – Passed peacefully away on Sunday,
January 27, 2008 at
the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Eli Powell of
Bay Watch Manor in Glovertown, formerly of Happy Adventure, aged 97 years.
Predeceased by his brothers, Max, Harry, Emore and Prince. Left to mourn
are his wife, Doris Powell (nee Reid); children, Joyce (Art Quinton),
Audrey (Ralph Arnold), Doug (Blanche Elliott) and Billy. He also left
to mourn seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The service took place on January 30 th from the Good Shepherd United
Church in Happy Adventure. Interment followed at Holy Cross, Good Shepherd
Cemetery in Eastport. Donations may be made to the Good Shepherd United

of our dear loved one, Christopher Wade Oram, age 32
