HUMBY, Alva
Passed away on January 4, 2002, in Brooks, Alberta, Alva Humby, formerly of Benton, age 35. Predeceased by father Obediah Humby in 1981. Left with fond and loving memories are husband Dane of Brooks, mother Maisi Humby of Benton; brothers and sisters, Henry (Winnie) of Benton, Eli (Michelle) of Benton, Monnie (Darryl) Smith of Burton, NB, Linda Humby (Calvin) of Benton, Susan Humby (Paul) of Calgary, Eddie (Dale) Humby of Benton; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on January 8th at Smith's Memorial Chapel, Brooks, Alberta. A memorial service was held January 16th at the Anglican Church, Benton. Donations in her memory can be made to Medicine Hat Cancer Centre, 666 5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 4H6.

COOPER, ELLA
Passed peacefully away on January 5, 2002 at her residence in Gander, Mrs. Ella Cooper in her 85th year. Predeceased by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Left with fond and loving memories are husband, Royal of Gander, son Glen and wife Sadie of St. John's; brother Boyd Adams and wife Nelda of Milton; sister Evelyn and husband Lewis Pelley of Milton; grandchildren, Jodi of Gander and Michelle of Ottawa; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on January 9th at the Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Cremation will follow. Interment will place at All Saints United Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

TULK, NINA J. (nee Ellsworth)
Passed peacefully away on January 7th, 2002 at Agnes Pratt Home, St. John's, Mrs. Nina J. Tulk (nee Ellsworth) of Carmanville, age 86. Predeceased by her husband Ephriam; parents Dulci and Edmund Ellsworth; infant children Chesley and Blanche; sister Daisy Collins, brothers James and Denny; brothers-in-law Stanley Holmes and Fred Collins. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughter Katie Abbott of St. John's; sons Jim (Juanita) of St. John's; daughters, Joan Baker (Ken) of Kentucky, US, Doreen Goodyear (Max) of Gander; sister Lydia Holmes of Lewisporte. Seven grandchildren, Sandra Head (Keith) of Salisbury, NB, Brent Abbott (Kim) of Pound Cove, Christ Abbott (Angela) of Kelligrews, Rodney Tulk of Kitchener, ON, Terry-Lee Tulk (Darrin) of St. John's, Tina Tulk (Steve) of Kitchener, ON, Lisa Goodyear (Chad) of Gander. Four great grandchildren, Damien Abbott of Kelligrews, Chad Head of Salisbury, ON, Stephenie Kelly of Kitchener, ON, Aaron Abbott of Kelligrews; the residents and staff of Agnes Pratt Home; and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service took place on January 10th at the Salvation Army Citadel in Carmanville. Interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Carmanville South. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Wesleyville-Musgrave Harbour.

DICKSON, MABEL
Passed peacefully away at her residence in Gander with loving family by her side, Mrs. Mabel Anstey Dickson, formerly of Twillingate, in her 83rd year. Left with fond and loving memories are brother John Anstey (Julia) of Twillingate, sisters, Amy (Ernest Peyton), Flora (Frank Broderick), Lucy (Hiram Keeping), Rose (Aiden Walsh), all of Gander, Majorie (Wilfred Haynes) of Goose Bay and Daphne (John Chafe) of Twillingate; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on January 8th at the Anglican Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Anglican Cemetery. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home Ltd. Gander.

WEST, Carl
Passed peacefully away on January 8, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Carl West of Ladle Cove, age 76. Predeceased by son Harry and parents Moses and Daisy West. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Marion; two sons, Peter (Terri) and Paul (Mavis), all of Edmonton, AB; two daughters, Carl Stockley (Garry) of Glovertown and Doreen Hicks (Steven) of Musgrave Harbour; brother Walter (Annie) of Ladle Cove; seven grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on January 11th at the United Church, Ladle Cove with Mrs. R. Bungay officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Ladle Cove. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour/Pound Cove.

KELLY, Gertrude M. (nee Cashin)
Passed peacefully away on January 9, 2002 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Gertrude M. Kelly (nee Cashin) in her 88th year. Predeceased by and now joined in eternal peace, husband Maurice (1978). Left with a lifetime of precious memories are 11 children, sons, Frank (Bridget), Pat, Bill, Kevin (Elva), Gordon (Enid), Donnie (Fran); daughters, Kay Carter, Loretta (David Perry), Rita (George Kinden), Bonnie (Eric Goulding), Marie (Rick Goldrup); 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Jack Cashin; three sisters, Francis Shea, Rita Tompkins and Mildred Cochrane (Jim); as well as a large of nieces, nephews, relatives and family friends. Rested at Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo. Funeral mass was held on January 12 at Her Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Gambo. Donations may be made in her memory to the R.C. Cemetery Fund, Gambo.

EVANS, Perry
Passed away suddenly on January 10, 2002, Perry J. Evans of Gander, age 40. Predeceased by father Frank in 1992. Left with loving memories are wife Colleen, daughter Jaime of Gander, mother Ann; brother Frank (Sadie); sister Colleen of Gander, mother and father-in-law, Val and Maxine Dunn of Gander, brothers-in-law Paul Dunn of St. John's, Craig Dunn of Gander; sister-in-law Kelly (Joe) Saulnier of gander; nieces and nephews, Jason, Ryan, Robyn, Casey, Iain, Brandon and Erin; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on January 13th at St. Martin's Anglican Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to the Central Northeast Health Foundation. SPURRELL, Loretta
Passed peacefully away on January 11, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Loretta Spurrell of Badger's Quay, age 78. Predeceased by husbands George Fifield (1943) and Percy Spurrell (1966). Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are son Wilson (Shelley) of St. John's; six daughters, Jean Wicks(Jim) of Gravenhurst, ON, Frances Holden (Gerry) of St. John's, Shirley Churchill (Max), Margaret Knee (Melv), Joan Oram (Lew) and Linda Winsor (Percy), all of Badger's Quay; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, May Brown of Sandusky, Ohio and Leah Tulk of St. John's; sister-in-law Leah Knee of Lewisporte; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on January 13th at the Anglican Church, Badger's Quay with Rev. J. Watton officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Badger's Quay. Donations may be made to the Parish of Badger's Quay or Pool's Island or to the Brookfield Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

GREEN, Pearl
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Pearl Green, age 91 years. Predeceased by husband Albert 1954, son Stanley 1993. Left with loving memories are sons Wilfred (Ethel) of London, ON and Barton (Loretta) of Gander; five grandchildren Rick, Randy, Cindi, Lisa and Nancy; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Steffie, Ryan, Robert, Sean and Sara; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on January 17 at St. Martin's Anglican Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Carmanville/Gander

PERRY, Norman Lester
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Norman Lester Perry of Glovertown in his 79th year. Predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Caroline Perry. Left to mourn are wife Genevieve, sons, Nelson (Christine), Norman (Cynthia) of Carmanville, Gary (Wendy) of Corner Brook, daughter Karen (Dennis Coffey) of Clarke's Beach; sister Nellie (Llewelyn Feltham), brother Ernest (Olive), Thomas (Jane) of Grand Falls-Windsor; 10 grandchildren; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on January 17th at Riverside United Church, Glovertown South.

FITZPATRICK, Flora J.
Passed peacefully away on January 21, 2002 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Flora J. Fitzpatrick, age 78. Predeceased by her husband, Ronald C - 1988; daughter Katherine - 1998; sister Amelia - 1941; parents Henry and Ethel Dicker. Left with loving memories are sons, Charles (Karen) of St. John's; Terry (Silvia) of Houston, Texas; Denis (Ann) of Moncton, NB; Ronald of Calgary, AB; daughter, Ann (Donald) Dwyer of Gander; brother, Stephen of Goulds, NF; grandchildren, Christa, Sarah, Stephen, Natalie, Matthew, Madeline, Tara, Julian, Daphenie Fitzpatrick; Jenifer Brown, Sean, Dawn Deanne Dwyer; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral mass was held January 24th at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations can be made to the NF Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation. COXON, Dr. Melville George
Passed peacefully away on January 24, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Dr. Melville George Coxon, age 90. Predeceased by brothers Orville - 1984 and Bill - 1983. Left with loving memories are wife Muriel W. Coxon (Vale); son James (Joann) of Gander; daughter Sheila (Walter) Wojcik of Wyebridge, ON; sister Jean (Bill) Bundscho of Milverton, ON; two grandchildren Janet and Ian; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on January 28th at Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander or the Heart and Stroke foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Carmanville/Gander.

STEAD, Grant Terrance
Passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2002, Grant Terrance Stead, at the age of 29 years. Left with loving memories are wife Cindy; daughter Sydney and expected baby Terri Elizabeth, parents Betty and Terry Stead of Howley; sister Tanya; brother Kirk; grandmother Cassell, Job and Ena Brown and family; CFB Gander members; and a large community of extended family and friends. Funeral was held on January 27th, 2002 at the Salvation Army Citadel in Gander. A special thank you is extended to our Canadian Armed Forces family for their support and dedication during this difficult. Thank you to Major Gerald and Doreen Lacey of the Salvation Army Church, and to all of those who have expressed their condolences, provided their support and generosity. Grant will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Those whose lives he has touched must remember "time - it will weave a blanket to keep you warm, it will melt today's snow into water to wash us clean, it will even provide special glasses to keep from view the seemingly injustice of such a loss".

ELLIOTT, Harold F.
Passed peacefully away on January 25, 2002, at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Center in Botwood, at the age of 87. Predeceased by parents, Alfred and Sarah Elliott, and a daughter, also six sisters and three brothers. Left to mourn are wife, Faith; sons - Alfred (Julia), Raymond (Bernice) and Richard (Effie) all of Happy Adventure, Nfld.; daughters - Vera (Edmund Cooper), Hope McKenzie of Sudbury, Ont., and Sarah (William Hynes) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Nfld. Also left to mourn are 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on January 28th, 2002 at the Eastport Anglican Church. Service by Rev. Paul Thomas, followed by interment at Anglican Cemetery in Eastport. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Squires Funeral Home, Eastport. With great appreciation to the pallbearers, Lloyd Burry, Ronald Moss, Charlie Oldford, Ansel Moss, Michael Ward and Harold Hewitt.

SINNOTT, Michael
Passed peacefully away on January 25, 2002, at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mr. Michael Sinnott in his 78th year. Mr. Sinnott is predeceased by sister Margaret Halley; and brothers Edward and James Sinnott. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Jean; sons, Robert of Whitby, ON, Raymond of Oshawa, ON, daughters, Glenda and husband James John of Glenwood, Margaret of Hamilton, ON. Sheila of Glenwood; brother Gordon of St. John's; grandchildren Lisa, Jake, Kathy, Steven; great-grandchildren Zachary; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral mass was held on January 28th at the Roman Catholic Church in Glenwood. Interment in the Glenwood Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Glenwood Roman Catholic Church. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Carmanville/Gander.

EASTMAN, Everett
Passed away at his residence in Carmanville on January 25, 2002, Mr. Everett Eastman, in his 49th year. Predeceased by his son Rodney Everett and grandparents, George and Druscilla Eastman. Left to mourn are his wife Diane; two daughters, Wendy and Cayla, both of Carmanville; his parents Aubrey and Ada Eastman of Harris Point; four brothers, Eugene (Gertie) of George's Point, Rick (Ruby) of Carmanville, Ronald (Marie) of Harris Point, Philip (Diane) of Harris Point, four sisters, Sylvia Smith (Carl) of Corner Brook, Daphne Hodder (Morley) of Victoria Cove, Nancy Eastman (Laurie) of Corner Brook, Melinda Eastman (John) of Alberta; parents-in-law Clarence and Juanita West of Carmanville; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Angell (David) of Carmanville, Cynthia Tulk (Geoffrey) of Aspen Cove; one brother-in-law Wayne West (Kim) of Grand Falls-Windsor; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on January 27th, 2002 from the United Church in Carmanville. Interment at the United Church Cemetery in George's Point. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Carmanville/Gander.

MESH, Shirl
Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at her home in Woodstock, Ont., on January 25, 2002, Shirl Mesh, formerly of Gander, aged 41. Shirl is predeceased by her father, Gerard (1996). Left with fond and loving memories is mother, Dorothy; husband, Terry Wheaton of Woodstock; daughter, Janie of Woodstock; brothers - Gerard and wife Marlene of Ottawa and Cameron and wife Edith of Calgary; sisters - Irene and husband Dave Sheppard of Lewisporte and Pam and husband Dave Soucy of Gander; five nephews; three nieces; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remembrance service was held at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on February 1st, 2002. Donations in Shirl's memory may be made to the Nfld. Cancer Research or a children's charity of one's choice. GILBERT, Marjorie (nee Pritchett)
Passed peacefully away on January 26, 2002, Marjorie Gilbert (nee Pritchett) in her 79th year. Predeceased by husband, George, parents, Fanny and Gilbert Pritchett, and granddaughter, Shauna Lee Gould. Left to mourn with many precious memories are four children - son, Clarence, daughters - Jessie (Clayton Gould), Dora (Bill Wells), Fran (Donnie Kelly); three grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Emma Jerrett; two brothers - Ross Pritchett (Sadie), Lloyd Pritchett (Marion); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo. Funeral service was held on January 29th, 2002, at St. George's Anglican Church, Gambo. Interment at St. George's Anglican Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to St. George's Anglican Church Memorial Fund, Gambo.

PENNELL, Ida
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on January 29, 2002, Ida Pennell in her 101st year. Predeceased by husband, William Pennell, infant daughter, Mary Jane and son, Wallace. Left with fond and loving memories are daughters - Netta French, Main Point and Cavelle (Lou) Hennebury, Grand Falls/Windsor; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place from Carmanville United Church on January 31, 2002. Interment at Noggin Cove Cemetery. Arrangements by Woolfrey's Funeral Home, Lewisporte.
