Passed peacefully away at The Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Saturday, February 15, 2014 Alma Abbott age 99 years of Musgrave Harbour. Predeceased by her husband Beaton Abbott; brothers Orville and Joe; sister Margaret. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son David Abbott ( Laura) of Musgrave Harbour; daughter Eva Duggan (Gerry) of St. John's; 6 grandchildren Dwayne (Jeanette), Davy, Sue Ellen (Todd), John Paul (Michelle), Chris and Jamie; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, especially her friends at North Pond Manor, Torbay where she resided. Funeral service took place at The Salvation Army Citadel, Musgrave Harbour on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Majors Barry and Donna Anstey officiating. Passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 Gerald Carl Batstone age 75 years of Valleyfield. Predeceased by his parents Raymond and Caroline Batstone. Marina Louise (Spurrell) Blackwood
, of Brookfield passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family on February 19, 2014 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay. Born on Nov 18, 1934 in Badgers Quay, NL, she was the daughter of the late Maria & Albert Spurrell. Predeceased by her infant daughter Maggie, sisters Blanche (David) Nugent and Ruth Wiseman. Left with cherished memories her beloved husband and best friend Cyril, daughters, Mabel (Joseph) O'Quinn, Mt Pearl, Joyce (Kenneth) Roebotham, Brookfield, Son William (Linda) Blackwood, Paradise. 6 grandchildren whom she adored; Jamie (Rhonda), Jennifer (Doug), Melissa (Chris), Heather (Perry), Mark and Bethany, along with 8 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Daphne Spurrell and Lillian Sturge, St. John's. Brothers, Claude (Luella) Spurrell, Toronto, Gordon (Vicky) Spurrell, Toronto, brother-in-law George Wiseman, St. John's. Also several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Filled with compassion and interest in others, Marina made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She also leaves her caregivers Eliza Kean, Susan Stagg and her three earthly angels, Judy, Gloria, and Debbie Dyke. Passed peacefully away at St. Claire's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Saturday, February 1st, Gordon Brinson, age 63. BUTTON, Elias Joseph
November 15, 1960 - February 11, 2014

Elias was born on November 15, 1960 to his parents Elias Sr. & Elizabeth (Burry) Button of Greenspond. On December 8th, 1984 he married the love of his life Sandra Humphries of Valleyfield; together they raised three wonderful children. Over the years Elias worked at many different jobs to provide for his family. His greatest joy came from his sons and of course his wife. Elias passed peacefully away with his family at his side on February 11, 2014 at James Paton Memorial Hospital. Predeceased by his parents, brother Gordon and other members of the Button & Humphries family. He leaves to morn with many fond and loving memories his wife and three sons; Andy, Justin and Christopher; brothers, Jim (Marilyn) and Jeff; sisters, Elsie (Harry) Mouland and Margaret (Fred) Stanford; step-brother Melvin (Helen) Maidment. Elias will be forever remembered by a large circle of family and friends. Private visitation was held at Sincerely Yours Funeral Home on Wednesday evening February 12, 2014 & public visitation at St. Stephens Anglican Church on February 13-14, 2014. Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander on Wednesday, February 19th, 2014, Bert Frost, age 82. Predeceased by his parents Bert and Alice Frost, brothers Harry, James, Frank, Reginald and Ray, sisters Florrie Noseworthy and Audrey Stuckless. Passed peacefully away in Gander, one of the founding residents, Anne J. Hollohan aged 97. Predeceased by husbands, Elias and Walter, sons, Tom and Brian. Left to celebrate her life are sons, John (June) of Oshawa, ON. Jerry (Beverley) of Witless Bay, NL. Barry (Carolyn) of Berwick, NS. Wayne (Karen) of Victoria, BC. Daughters, Mary of Ajax, ON. and Maureen (Marshall) of Gander, NL. Daughter in law Babs Hollohan of St. John's, NL. nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother, Mark Kelly (Nellie) of Gander, NL, sister, Mary Williams of Gander, NL and a large circle of family and friends. Passed peacefully at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Feb 26th, Frank Ireland in his 79th year. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Sadie Ireland, brother Ted, friend Stella. Left with fond and cherished memories, sons Roger (Bonnie), Darren (Leah), Boyd (Cecilia); and their mother Leak Ireland; brothers Bill (Wavey), Doug (Shirley), Ian (Heather), Neil (Phyllis); sisters Ruth (Dwaine-Deceased), Catherine (Raymond-deceased) Betty; sister-in-law Linda Ireland; grandchildren Ashli, Nathan, Kyle, Gavin and Anna; nieces, nephews, many other family members and friends. LANNON, Florrie Georgina (Pritchett)
Age 97, of Kingston, ON; passed away peacefully at Providence Manor Nursing Home on February 21, 2014, with family present. Born November 20, 1916, in Middle Brook, Gambo, NL, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rachael Pritchett and was the last surviving member in a family of six children. Florrie was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by son Sam (Dartmouth, NS); daughter Regina (Kingston, ON); son Phillip (Toronto, ON); daughter Paula (Inuvik, NWT). Florrie was the grandmother of Christopher, Andrew, Colleen, Justin, Thomas, and Patricia, and great grandmother of Moreen and Clare. She was predeceased by her husband Leo; brothers, Dr. Newton, Kitchener, Michael; sisters, Daphne and Madge; and daughter-in-law, Moreen (Martin). Florrie was blessed with a long life and lived with her family in many parts of Canada including Gander and St. John's, NL, Frobisher Bay, NWT, Brampton, ON, Norris Arm South, NL, Dartmouth, NS and Kingston, ON. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Providence Manor for their care and compassion during her final years. passed peacefully at Columbia Forest Seniors Residence in Kitchener - Waterloo on February 24th, 2014. Predeceased by her husband Pearce Parons and parents Mary and Benjamin Mullett. Leaving to mourn daughters Ethel (Boyd Sooley) of Kitchener, Eileen (Sidney Naeckel) of Kitchener, Elsie Knister of Fort McMurray, and John Parson (Sally) of Fort McNurray. Also survived by her grandchildren Jason Sooley (Jennifer Fabro), Angie (Marcel Ethier), Victoria Knister, Tyler Knister, Brittany Naeckel, Adrianna, Tarek, Zainab, Tahal Parsons and Great grandson Nathan Ethier, brother Nat Nullett, and his daughters Suzanne (Robert Dicks), Denise (Steve Bonnell) and Cheryl (Stewart Ogilvie). Also her great nephews Evan and Isaac Bonnell. Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Health Center, Gander on February 8th 2014 Sadie Wicks age 68 years. Predeceased by son Norman and daughter Francis, parents Edward and Bertha, sisters Peggy and Melvina and brother Vaden. Left with loving memories are her husband Norman Wicks, sons Harrison (Kayla), Craig (Carol), Cheyane (Krista), daughter Melinda (David), brothers Samuel (Shirley), Sterling (Netta), Raymond (Elvie), Gonzel (Blanche), Ricky (Susie), sisters Rosie (Carl), Emily (Melvin), Viola (Sterling), Florence (Peter), Cayla (Kenneth), grandchildren Amelia, Colin, Amber, Chelsi, Chadrick, Brady, Brandi, Jenna, Mackenzie, Zachary, great grandchildren Helda-Jean Sadie. Also a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Wings Point Pentecostal Church. Funeral Service was held Saturday, February 15th 2:00 P.M. at Wings Point Pentecostal Church. Interment Pentecostal Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers donations in Sadie's memory may be made to the Family or Wings Point Pentecostal Church. WINTER, Roland
December 20, 1929 - February 18, 2014

Roland was born December 20th, 1929 to Leslie and Mary Winter at North West Arm. He married Betty Pardy of Musgrave Harbour on April 4th, 1956 and together they raised a family of four daughters. Roland is predeceased by parents Leslie & Mary; brothers Edward, Herbert, Leslie & David; and sisters Lillian, Leah, Alma & Mereda. He leaves to mourn wife Betty; daughters Brenda (Tony Howell) Pound Cove, Maxine (George Kean) Labrador City, Joyce (Wade Goodyear) Lumsden, and Lillian (Terry King) Badger's Quay; grandchildren Dawn (Mark), George (Stephanie), Lesley (Jeff), Gina (Jared), Jolene and Ryan; three great-grandchildren Mason, Christopher and Connor; brothers Gregory (Violet), George (Susie), and Bruce (Margaret); sister Lottie (Jack Knee) and many nieces and nephews; he will always be in their hearts and memories. Visitations were held at Sincerely Yours Funeral Home on February 12, 13 & 14, 2014. Rev. Tim Graham officiated the Funeral service at the St. Alban's Anglican Church on Saturday February 22th, 2014 @ 11:00 am. Interment was at the Anglican cemetery in Badger's Quay.
