SAUNDERS, Norman Edgar
1957-2013
The family of the late Edgar and Ida Saunders of Glovertown are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of their brother, Norm. He was the 8th of 10 children and was known by his family to be an easy going guy. To his friends he was known as "Miles" as it was not unusual for Norm to get in his car or on his motorcycle to go on a trip - it could be visiting his sister, Harriet in Corner Brook or crossing the gulf and driving to British Columbia. When he arrived at a destination he would always call his family to let them know that he had arrived. It was on one of those trips that he met his former wife, Peggy Wareham. They married and were blessed with 3 sons, Luke, Matthew and Bradley. The family lived in Glovertown until 1994 when they left the island and moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia. From there they continued their journey and ended up living in Calgary, Alberta. After amicably parting ways, Norm moved to the Edmonton area where he has lived and worked as a Heat Treatment Technician for the past 20 years with different companies as well as on his own. It was while working in the field he met his soul mate, Debbie Falardeau. She worked in the same field and at times they worked together and she was at his side during his recent illness and passing. Norm loved many things in his life but his love of music and the Northwest Arm were two things that he held dear. The love of music was bred into him through his father, Eggie and was part of Norm's family life. He played both the guitar and the violin - he followed in his father's footsteps and passed this love on to his three sons who will carry on the tradition and pass music on to their own children. His love of the Arm developed through spending time with his father who was a Fisheries Warden on Northwest Arm Brook. This was heaven to a young boy - it gave him the freedom to escape the town and to spend time with many of his friends who, like him, grew into young men who built cabins, caught rabbits and learned what life was all about. The suddenness of his passing will take time for his family to accept. He will be sadly missed by his sons Luke (Catherine), Matthew (Meghan), and Bradley (Jenny). He also leaves behind his beloved three grandchildren: Christion, Keiran, and Cailyn who were true loves of his life. Norm will always be remembered by those who knew him.

SCEVIOUR, Eric Roy
Eric Roy Sceviour
was born October 4, 1941 in British Harbour to John (Jack) and Amy Ann Sceviour. He met his soul mate Lorraine in 1962 and they were married in Buchans in November, 1964. They moved to Gander where they raised three daughters. Roy's passion in life was his family, the Lord and hockey. His love of the Lord was evident in his demeanour as he was always there to lend anyone a helping hand or encouraging word. He dearly loved the Montreal Canadians, his favourite player was Doug Harvey and he spent many years playing, coaching and referring his favourite sport. Roy was so proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to watch his grandchildren playing hockey, soccer and lacrosse. He always looked forward to spending time with them, telling them stories about growing up, his hockey "glory days" and treating them to Dairy Queen. He will always hold a special place in their hearts as a kind and loving Poppy. Roy is survived by his wife Lorraine, his daughters Kim (Randy), Karen (Steve) and Kelly, his grandchildren Cassandra, Connor, Brandon, Jeremy and Garrett, brothers Eleazar, Cecil, and Harold, sisters Millie, Daisy and Shirley. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 at the Salvation Army church in Gander. In lieu of flowers donations in Eric's memory may be made to the Salvation Army. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.
