KELLY, Mary Margaret
Passed peacefully away on Monday, February 4, 2008, Mary Margaret Kelly, aged 81 of Gambo. Predeceased by her husband, Harry, her parents, Thomas and Gertrude Fitzgerald, sister, Eileen and brother, Patrick. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons, Brendan (Marlene), Bob (Sadie), Jerry ( Sharon); daughter, Esther (Patrick) and brother, John Fitzgerald (Mary); 8 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. SAUNDERS, Melvin Lynn
Passed peacefully away on Monday, February 4, 2008 at James Paton Memorial Hospital Gander, Melvin Lynn Saunders, aged 62. Predeceased by parents, Lewis and Winnie Saunders and brother, Roger. Left to mourn his wife, Olive (nee Brown), sons, Douglas (Eleanor) of Tuktoyaktuk, N.W.T., and Dale (Tammy) of St. John’s, daughter, April Lush of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Brittany (Cody) and Brett Lush and Renita Ross; great-granddaughter, Brody Lynn Velders; brother, Gerald (Molly); sisters, Dianne Power (Pat) and Christine Bartlett (Eric); brothers-in-law, Donald Brown (Fern) and George; sister-in-law, Hazel Stokes (Frank) as well as many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Pritchett’s Funeral Home, Gambo on Wednesday 12 noon – 9 pm, Thursday 10 am – 9 pm and Friday morning. SHEPPARD, William (Willie) James
Passed peacefully in the arms of his parents after a brief illness on February 6th, 2008, Willie Sheppard, age 16 years. Left to mourn his beloved parents, Dean and Denise, his grandparents, Don and Eugenie Durfy of Corner Brook and Cyril and Millicent Sheppard of Corner Brook, his uncles, Robert (Shireen) Durfy of Toronto, John (Carol) Durfy of Oakville, Sean (Tracey) Durfy of Calgary, Bernard (Gloria) Sheppard of Springdale, Byron (Patricia) Sheppard of Lewisporte, and aunt, Phyllis (Tom) Tokarchuk of Oakville, along with many cousins and a wide circle of friends and surrogate family. Passed peacefully away on February 6, 2008 at Brookfield Hospital, Eli Jabez Preston, aged 81 years of Trinity, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Florence Preston, daughter, Lillian Brown; brothers, Adriel and Charley; stepbrother, Jim Keats; sister, Gertie Chaytor. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Susanna (nee Brown), sons, Chesley (Beverly) of Gambo, Clayton (Maggie) of Trinity, Carson (Eileen) of Trinity; son-in-law, Percy Brown of Trinity; daughters, Florence Tulk (Clarence) of Gander, Mildred Wells (William) of Trinity, Linda Feltham (Roger) of Trinity, Helen Lane (Ross) of Ajax, ON; stepsister, Effie Hunt of Glovertown, 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away February 8, 2008 at Brookfield Hospital, Gilbert John Gill in his 85th year of Newtown, formerly of Pinchard’s Island. Predeceased by his parents, Ammon and Caroline (Wakeley) Gill; infant son, Terrance; brothers, Jesse and Norman; sisters, Jane Blackmore; infant grandson, Simms and Dinah Norris. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Gertrude; sons, Calvin (Patricia) of Newtown, Luke(Debbie) of Labrador City, Bruce(Joan) of Newtown, Johnny (Louise) of Newtown; daughters, Stella Simms (Freeman) of Little Bay, Sarah Quinlan (Syl) of Holyrood, Margaret Vincent (Hughie) of Newtown, Cavell Simms (Glenn) of St. Patrick’s, Joanne Gill of Ft. Predeceased by her parents, Martin and Carrie Young; brother, Bert and daughter-in-law, Doreen Loughlin. Passed peacefully away on Feb 11th, 2008 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Henry Harbin, age 63 years. Predeceased by parents, John and Myrtle; brother, Nathaniel. Left with loving memories are his wife, Sylvia; sons, Dion (Susanne) of New Market, ON, Greg (Marlene) of Barrie, ON, Ryan (Hollie) of Victoria Cove; daughters, Sharmane (Gary) Webb of Barrie, ON, Paulette (Dave) Jones of Oakeville, ON; sisters, Irene Harbin of Victoria Cove, Marjorie Wheeler of Sliverdale, Christine Leyte of Gander; grandchildren, Stephen & Ian Webb, Cody, Tyler and Braden Harbin, granddaughter, Julie Torraville; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. AYLWARD, Marie
Passed peacefully away on February 12, 2008 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Marie Aylward, aged 81 years. Predeceased by her husband, Leo; son, Bernard; granddaughters, Tracey, Kellie and Edna; four brothers and two sisters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Leo (Kitty) of St. Brendan's, NL and Ralph of St. Brendan's, NL; daughters, Ronnie (Rod) of Carbonear, NL and Bride (Michael) of St. Brendan's, NL; grandchildren, Laura, Roddy, Darin, Scott, Bern, Jackie, Brian, Bradley, Karen, Cyndy, and Bernard; great grandchildren, Jonathon, Denicka, Brandon and Nicholas; special friend, Martina Samson and home care worker, Patricia Ryan; nieces and nephews as well as a large number of family and friends. KELLY, Frank
Passed peacefully away on February 15th, 2008 in the presence of his family, Frank Kelly of Gambo. Born December 6, 1927, the son of Garrett Kelly and Catherine Jesseau. Married Eileen Stockley on September 25, 1950 and together they raised 14 children. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Mary (Mike Hickey), Angela (Bernard O’Keefe), Helen (Greg Moss), Blanche (John Moss), Kathleen (Anthony) and brothers, Billy, Tommy, Daniel (Lucy), Louie ( Carmel) and Garrett(Barb). Left to mourn is his loving and devoted wife, Eileen and children, Brian ( Frances), Garrett (Rolla), Maureen (Paul), Bob (Charlene), Sharon (Geoff), Fred (Andrea), Frank (Barb), Ross (Cathy), Josephine (Albert), Kate (Gene), Noel (Jennifer), Ian (Linda), Wayne (Cherie) and Jason (Jeha). His brother, Tom (Margaret) and sisters, Bride, Madeline (Bob), Anastasia; sister-in-law, Barbara Kelly along with a large circle of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a great many friends. GOODYEAR, John Wesley
Passed peacefully away on February 17, 2008 at Brookfield Hospital, John Wesley Goodyear, aged 78 years of Deadman’s Bay NL. Predeceased by his parents, Mark and Violet Maude Goodyear; brothers; Maxwell, Edgar and Isaac Goodyear. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Delilah; sons, Mervin (Regina) of Halifax, NS, Jason (Shawna) of Toronto, ON; daughters, Valda Nunley (Raymond) of Canyon Lake, TX, Cindy Goodyear (Bruce) of Montreal, QC, brother; Nathan Goodyear (Minnie) of Bishop Falls, N; sister-in-law; Wilhemina Sturge (Albert) of Wesleyville; mother-in-law; Annie Saunders of Hare Bay, NL; grandchildren, Krista McGrath (Mark) of Wabush, NL, Emily Allen of Montreal, QC, Lauren Goodyear of Halifax, NS, Stephen Goodyear of Halifax, NS, Tyler Goodyear of Toronto, ON, Brianna Goodyear of Toronto, ON; great-grandson, Nash McGrath of Wabush, NL and a large circle of other relatives and friends. GOODYEAR, Neta
Passed peacefully away on February 19, 2008 at a private home at Birchy Bay, were she resided under the care of Carl and Verley Mews, Neta Goodyear, aged 86 years formerly of Newtown, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by her parents, Allan and Jane Vincent; husband, Caleb Goodyear; brothers, Roy and Bramwell Vincent; sisters, Amy Bungay, Joyce White, brothers-in-law; Carmen White, Abi Bungay. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her brother, Raymond Vincent, residing at Lakeside Homes, Gander and sister-in-law, Minnie residing at Otterbury Manor, Wesleyville; several nieces and nephews; special niece, Roma Villeneuve (Bungay) and a large circle of friends. Funeral service was held on February 21st at Trinity United Church, Newtown with Rev.Tim Bowman officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Newtown. HISCOCK, Joyce Chipman
Passed peacefully away on Monday, February 25, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Joyce Chipman Hiscock of Gander, aged 77 years. She is predeceased by her husband, Hubert; baby daughter, Elizabeth; parents, Robert and Rebecca Chipman; brother, Arthur; sister, Ann (Carrigan) and Dorothy (Abbott) and brother-in-law, Jim Carrigan. Left behind to celebrate her life and mourn her passing are four children, Colleen (Ken Stack), Fraser, Gary (Donna) of Gander Gerald (Jeanette) of Spaniard’s Bay; grandchildren, Robert, Scott, Amanda, Andrew, and Katie; former daughter-in-law, Maureen; brothers-in-law, Gerald Abbot of Spaniard’s Bay, Albert Hiscock (Phyllis) and Gerald Hiscock (Helene) of Trinity; nieces and nephews; caregivers, especially Shirley Saunders and Pauline Summers; special friends, Rosie and Eileen and a large circle of friends at both Gander and her birthplace, Spaniard’s Bay. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of her life was held on Wednesday, February 27th at St. Martin’s Church, Gander. GILLINGHAM, Baxter
Passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, Mr. Baxter Gillingham of Noggin Cove in his 80th year. Predeceased by his parents, Silas and Maria; son, Everette Ross; three brothers, Lemuel, Garfield and Herbert; sister, Sophie; three grandsons, Dwight Gillingham, John Gillingham and Baby Gillingham. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Juanita of 61 years; eight sons, Barry (Carol) of Ontario, Gary (Yvonne) of Corner Brook, Terry (Yvonne) of Musgrave Harbour, John (Sandra) of Noggin Cove, Dean (Netta) of Noggin Cove, Craig (Kathleen) of Noggin Cove, Chris (Angela) of St. John’s and Eric (Eunice) of Noggin Cove; four daughters, Viola Gillingham (Kevin) of Noggin Cove, Cindy Gillingham (Gerald) of Noggin Cove, Barbara Hancott (Ray) of Noggin Cove and Brenda Tulk (Ross) of Ontario; three sisters, Rosie Angell (Allan) of Noggin Cove, Lucy Coles of Noggin Cove and Lenora Osmond of Lewisporte; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on March 1st from the Pentecostal Church in Carmanville. Interment followed from the Salvation Army Cemetery in Carmanville with Majors Barry and Donna Anstey officiating. EARLE, Arthur Graham -
Passed peacefully away on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre, St, John's, Arthur Graham Earle, aged 61 years. Predeceased by his father, Arthur Graham Earle of Carbonear. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Judith; mother, Mavis; daughter, Sheila (Ian); brother, Harold (Shirley); four grandchildren, Valerie, Billy, Calvin and Graham; sisters-in-law, Eileen, Joy (Eric), Carol (Chris), Betty (Van), and Gloria (Greg) and brother-in-law, Calvin (Debbie) as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of his life was held on March 2nd at St. Martin's Anglican Cathedral, Gander. MILLS, Leo Kenneth
Passed peacefully away on Friday, February 29th, 2008, Leo Kenneth Mills, age 95 years. Predeceased by his wife, Catherine; 2 infant children, James and Catherine; and brother, Pierce. Left to mourn, with fond and loving memories are his daughter, Elizabeth (Corey) Gill of Gander and granddaughter, Catherine. He was a member of the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit #1808 during World War II.. He will be remembered by a large circle of family and friends. He rested at Stacey's Funeral Home in Gander.. Funeral services Monday, March 3rd 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery in Gander.
