COLLINS, Olive Maude
The family of Olive Maude Collins is saddened to announce her sudden death on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the age of 77. Olive was born in Hare Bay on August 13, 1930 to the late Edwin and Effie Saunders. Olive leaves to mourn her sons, Terry (Joan) and Wade (Jean); daughters, Denise Alcock (Dave) and Joanne Collins-Cashin (Brian); grandchildren. Kurt Collins, Mark Collins and Stephanie Alcock; brother, Edward and Stephanie Alcock; brother, Edward Saunders (Ester); sisters, Ruby Wells, Dinah Collins (Roy), Geneva Rogers (Winston) and Rexine; sisters-in-law, Effie Saunders, Mildred Seaward, Josephine Collins, Eva Collins and brother-in-law, Stewart Collins. She also leaves to mourn other close relatives along with a large circle of family and friends. Olive was known for her concern for others, generous nature and sense of humour. She was always there to lend family, friends and neighbours a helping hand and did not ask for anything in return, knowing they were happy was payment enough. All children who entered her life were treated like her own. She enjoyed cooking, long walks, berry picking, feeding the birds and tending to her garden. She will be sadly missed and joyfully remembered by family and friends. Funeral service was held on December 4th at the Salvation Army Church in Hare Bay. Donations may be made in Olive’s memory to the Cancer Centre at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander or a charity of one’s choice.

GOODYEAR, Herbert -
Passed away suddenly on December 2nd, 2007 at Thunder Bay, ON, Herbert Goodyear, age 59 years. Predeceased by father Alexander. Left with loving memories are his wife, Edna; sons, Cory (Judy) of Torbay, NL, Richard (Marlene) of Petawawa, Chancey of Main Point; brothers, Sidney (Paula) of Lumsden, Clarence (Wanda) of Lumsden, sisters, Maxine (Glen ) Howell of Templeton, Roma (Paul) Goodyear of Lumsden; grandchildren, Chloe and Alyssa. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held, Saturday December 8th from Davidsville Anglican Church. Interment Jehovah's Witness Cemetery, Lumsden. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

BURRY, Annabella -
Passed peacefully away on December 3, 2007 at Brookfield Hospital, Annabella Burry, age 91 years of Valleyfield. Predeceased by her husband, Edgar; parents, Jacob and Annie Fifield, one daughter, Nellie Kean; one son, Lester; two sisters, Jane Davis and Fannie Gillingham; two brothers, Edgar and Alwin; brothers-in-law; Alfred Saunders and Charles Davis. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are three sons, Gerald (Reta) of Valleyfield, Edward (Violet) of St. John’s, Junior (Mabel) of Valleyfield; three sisters, Mabel Saunders of Corner Brook, Nellie Oram (Henry) of Glovertown, Pastor Marie Wells (Pastor Colin Wells) of Yellowknife; one brother, Emerson (Audrey) of Pasadena; son-in-law, Peter Kean of St. John’s; daughter-in-law, Annie Burry Hounsell (Wallace) of Valleyfield; sister-in-law, Alfreda Fifield of Glovertown, 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed suddenly away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Roy Domino Cuff of Musgrave Harbour in his 45th year. Predeceased by his father, Roland (2003). Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Cathy; son, Anthony Francis of Gander Bay; mother, Tryphina Cuff of Gander; parents-in-law, Harland and Marion Blackmore of Lumsden; two brothers, Paul (Roxanne) of Musgrave Harbour, Levi (Maxine) of Gander; sisters, Wanda Rumbolt (Eugene) of Gander, Paula Taylor (Craig) of Gander; one brother-in-law, Mike Blackmore (Janet) of St. John’s; one sister-in-law, Lisa Jarvis (Dave) of Lower Sackville, NS; six nieces, Sylvia (Vic), Sheri, Shalon, Melissa, Hannah, Cassandra; three nephews, Joshua, Matthew, Bradley; one great-nephew, Parker; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. PARSONS, Samuel Perry
Passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at the QE II Health Science Centre, Infirmary Site, Samuel Perry Parsons of Newtown, NL, aged 80 years. Predeceased by his brothers, William, Jesse and Percy; sisters, Ethel and Annie; parents, Thomas and Mary (Perry) Parsons. Survived by wife, Lovetia; daughters, Joan Goodyear (Winston), Gander, NL; Mary Watt (Douglas), Halifax, NS; sons, Elvis Parsons, Halifax, NS; sisters, Sadie Parsons, Frances Kean, Minnie Norris and Mary Kean; grandchildren, Nancy Cuff (Jeffery), Dinah Goodyear (Jason Esdon), Doreen Shea (David), Harris Goodyear; great-grandchildren, Bella and Watson Cuff as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorial took place December 8th. Burial will take place in Newfoundland at a later date.

GILLINGHAM, Edna
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on December 6, 2007, Edna Gillingham, in her 90th year. Predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Lucy (Scammell) Hoffe. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband, Anderson; son, Peter (Geraldine) of Gander, NL; daughter, Elizabeth (Jim Kendall) of Saint John, NB; grandchildren, Paula Kristmanson, Perry Kendall, Kellie Stares, Khristina Howse, Kimberley Stuckey, Pamela Kendall and Trevor Gillingham; great- grandchildren, Patrick, Thomas and Austin Kendall, Jasper Kristmanson, Kendra and Alexander Stares, Isaac, Joel and Eva Howse and Gabriel and Jayden Gillingham as well as a large number of other family and friends. Edna was very involved in her Church as an organist and also played an important role in establishing the Girl Guide movement in Gander Bay. Funeral service was held on December 8th from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wing's Point followed by interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Clarke's Head. Passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, Edward Winter, aged 79 of Badger’s Quay. Predeceased by parents, Leslie Sr. and Mary; wife, Olive; brothers, David and Leslie Jr.; sisters, Alma Kean, Leah Roebotham and Merida Knee. Passed peacefully away on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Meta Dot Wellon, aged 94 years. Pre deceased by her husband, Hedley John Wellon and sons, Robert (Bobby), Charlie and William (Bill). Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her grandchildren, Dale Wellon (John Follett) and Jason Wellon; great-grandchildren, Justin, Adam and Ashley Wellon Kean as well as a number of other family and friends. Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander in the presence of her loving family on December 9, 2007 after a lengthy battle with cancer, Alma Dyke, age 68 years. Predeceased by parents, Norman & Nellie Powell; sister, Joan Hoyles. Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre on Tuesday, December 11th, 2007, in her 70th year, in the presence of her loving family. Predeceased by her husband, Clyde Heffern; parents, Fred and Elizabeth Lambert; and sisters, Jean Francis, Marge Eastman and Marie Lambert. Leaving to mourn her sons, Derik (Danette) and Dion (April) and daughter, Kelley McGrath (Phonse); grandsons, Joshua and Dylan; granddaughter, Lillie-Mae; brothers, Winston Lambert (Elizabeth) and Rick Lambert (Donna); sister, Joy Lambert; niece and good friend, Joan Broderick (Jerry); mother-in-law, Connie Heffern; brothers-in-law, Carl Heffern (Frances) and Reg Heffern; sister-in-law, Sheila Rideout (Wayne); as well as a large circle of family and friends.

CREWE, Doris
Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s, on December 12, 2007, Doris Crewe of Glovertown in her 81st year. Left to mourn are her son, Harold (Jacqueline), daughters, Evelyn (Elias), Melinda (Ray), Eileen (Wayne), Hertha (Wayne), Geraldine (Baxter), Lorraine (Norman); 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marina; two brothers, Norman and George Arnold. Predeceased by her husband, Harold; parents, Edward and Hannah Arnold; sister, Frances; brothers, Pleaman and Adolphus and granddaughter, Holly Nicole. Funeral service was held on December 15th at Faith United Church, Glovertown, NL. Interment followed at Hillside Memorial Garden. ANDREWS, Dorothy Veronica Beulah (nee Snow)
In abounding memory of Dorothy Andrews who passed away suddenly on the morning of December 15th, 2007. She was a true treasure mourned by two daughters, Daphne Newhook, Gola Roberts (Jim), cherished grandchildren James and Kimberly Roberts and a special pet companion, Curly. Dorothy is also survived by brothers, Reverend Sidney Snow (Gertrude), Shelbourne, Nova Scotia, Clifford, Mount Pearl, sister, Marina Osborne, St.John’s Sister-in-law Roberts Snow, St. John’s and Bessie Snow, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also remembered by a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents, Maria and Clement Snow, twin brother, Donald, Graham, and Ford. Sister, Marjorie Gillingham, son-in-law, Harold Newhook, sister-in-law Gola Snow, brothers-in-law Roland Gillingham and Aubrey Osborne. Dorothy was born in Carmanville on August 12th, 1926, and remained there until she began her journey to Cape Island, Bonavista Bay as a teacher where she met her late husband, Ezra. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral home, 328 Hamilton Ave. and the funeral service was held at Gower Street United Church, Tuesday December 18th at 2pm. A private family interment will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Passed peacefully away on December 15, 2007 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, surrounded by his family, Baxter Parsons, aged 63 years of Gambo. Predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Parsons; brothers, Roy and Monty; and sister, Avril. Left to mourn his wife of 44 years, Rachael; children, Kevin (Brenda), Barbara (Pete), Susan (Robert), Donna (Junior), Michael (Veronica), Robert (Paula), Paula (Paul); fifteen grandchildren; brothers, Robert, David and Henry; sisters, Lorraine, Jean and Cynthia; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Passed away peacefully at University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK on Tuesday, December 18, 2007, Martin Charles Fifield of Wesleyville, age 48. Born December 28, 1958 at Wesleyville, NL, son of John and Sophie Fifield. Predeceased by parents, John and Sophie Fifield and sister; Minnie (Hillier). WEBB, Gary A. –
Passed away after a lengthy illness on December 18, 2007 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gary Webb of Loon Bay, NL in his 69th year. Left to mourn with fond memories are sons, Jeff (Dale, David (Patti), Greg (Danielle) and many grandchildren; also brothers, Fred (Irene), David ( Sharon); and sister, Mary Leigh. Gary also left behind family and a large group of friends in Gander, Loon Bay and Woodstock, NB. He is remembered for his great artistic talent, love of time in the woods and in the boat and his good humor, which remained until the end. All who knew him remark upon his many stories. The funeral service took place on December 21st at the United Church, Loon Bay. Interment followed at the United Cemetery. Passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, Phoebe Brown, age 86 years of Trinity. Predeceased by her parents, Nellie and Fredrick Loynd; stepfather, William Clarke; husband, Leonard Brown; daughter, Beverley Bown; sister and brother-in-law, Beryl and Allan Grimshaw. Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness on December 31, 2007 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Reginald Higgins of Eastport, NL in his 68th year.
