Passed peacefully away on December 1, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Samuel Fifield of Badger's Quay, age 83 years. Predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Jessie Fifield; brother, Randolph; and sister, Maisie Fry. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Beulah (nee Kelloway); son, Isaac (Marie) of St. John's; three daughters, Louise (Wilbur Janes) of Clarenville, Yvonne (Patrick Snow) of St. John's, Olga (Allan Stacey) of Labrador City; brother, John (Sophie) of Wesleyville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on December 4 at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove with Captain Terry Hopkins officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Wesleyville. ABBOTT, Audrey -
Passed peacefully away on December 2, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mrs. Audrey Abbott of Musgrave Harbour in her 76th year. Predeceased by her parents, John and Florrie Keats, and brother Lloyd Keats. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Norman L; four sons, John Martino (Pauline) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Ralph Martino (Noreen) of Bonavista, Dennis Martino (Sarah Jane) of Glace Bay, NS, and Paul Abbott (Janet) of Shoal Harbour; two daughters, donna Carpenter (Jack) of Catalina and Sandra McMullen (Renee) of Ottawa, ON; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Aggie Keats of Bonavista and Marguerite Abbott (Norman) of Musgrave Harbour; five nieces; and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on December 5th at St. Luke's United Church, Musgrave Harbour. Interment at St. Luke's United Church Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour. Passed peacefully away on December 4, 2002 at his residence in Musgrave Harbour, Mr. Lewinsor Abbott in his 80th year. Predeceased by his son Otto; sisters, Lily Cuff and Flossie Abbott; brothers, Dalton and Clarence; and his parents Roger and Rhoda Abbott. Passed peacefully away on December 4, 2002 at Lakeside Homes in Gander, Mrs. Wilhemina Abbott of Musgrave Harbour in her 82nd year. Predeceased by her husband Clayton; brother Archibald Stokes; sister Doris Mouland and sister-in-law Belle Stokes. Left with fond and loving memories are two sons, Chesley (Mae) of Musgrave Harbour and Jack of Musgrave Harbour; four daughters, Margaret Goodyear (Heber) of Lumsden, Beverly Wheaton (Cordell) of Frederickton, Blanche Wheaton (Allison) of Noggin Cove and Irene Russell (don) of St. John's; two brothers, Joe Stokes (Margaret) of Deadman's Bay and Chesley Stokes of Deadman's Bay; one sister Melinda Gillingham (steward) of Ragged Harbour; one sister-in-law Greta Stokes of Deadman's Bay; one brother-in-law Everett Mouland of Musgrave Harbour; 11 grandchildren Paul, Colin, Rhonda, Lori-Ann, Chris, Ryan, Kelly, Neil, Tyrone, April and Cluney; four great-grandchildren Toby, Tyler, Beady and Brooke; and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. BROWN, Allan -
Passed peacefully away on December 4, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Allan Brown, age 83 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Lucy; son Dennis (wife Daisy) of Gander; two granddaughters Debbie and Denise; one great-grandson Shawn; also a circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held on December 7th at the Salvation Army Citadel, Gander, with interment at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. PORTER, Barry -
Passed away on December 5, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre, Barry Porter in his 57th year. Predeceased by parents Hermon and Edith Porter; and brother Ralph Porter. Left with fond and loving memories are wife, Bernice, son, Barry of St. John's, daughters, Kim (Steve) Elms of Gander, Sherri-Lynn (David) Blandford of Pennsylvania; brothers, David (Marguerite) of Mount Pearl, Stuart (Carmelita) of St. John's; sister Christine (Harvey) Bullen of Gander; and special grandson Jack Elms. CARAVAN, Lewis Maxwell (Max) - June 21, 1928 - December 7, 2002 -
Passed peacefully away at his family residence in his 75th year, surrounded by his loving family, Lewis Maxwell Caravan of Deer Lake. Predeceased by son Jamie on November 7, 2001. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Mary (nee Brinson); three sons, Eddie (Maisie), Gary (Beverley), both of Deer Lake and Rocky (Shirley) of Corner Brook; two daughters, Glenda (Wayne) Drover and Heather Heath, both of Deer Lake; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother Terry (Audrey) of Deer Lake; one sister Ruby (Perley) Alexander of Stephenville; daughter-in-law Lois Caravan of Massey Drive; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A memorial service was held on December 10th at Parsons funeral Home, Deer Lake with Mr. Terry Drover officiating. Donations may be made to the W.M.R. Hospital Foundation. Passed peacefully away on December 11, 2002 at Lakeside Homes in Gander, Mrs. Sophie Abbott of Musgrave Harbour in her 98th year. Predeceased by her parents Jonas and Adelaide Abbott; husband Allan - 1939; sons Clyde and Albert; husband Cecil - 1992; sisters MaryAnn and Ethel; and brother Albert. Left with fond and loving memories are two sons, Eugene (Jean) of Musgrave Harbour and Newman (Annie) of Musgrave Harbour; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; sever great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law Marjorie Abbott of Musgrave Harbour; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on December 14, 2002 at the Carbonear General Hospital, Edna Pittman, age 76 years. Predeceased by husband Chesley (1999) and sister Florence Lambert (1998). HELLIER, Robert (Bob) Morris -
Passed away, after a courageous struggle, in his 76th year on December 16, 2002, Robert (Bob) Morris Hellier. Left to mourn, Rea, his loving wife of 56 years; children, Gloria, Janice, Debbie, Robert and Tamara, sons-in-law, Carl Brown, Keith Wallace, Kevin Pike and Kim Neilsen; 13 grandchildren, Carla, Tracey, Kraig, Stuart, Rea, Danny, Mandy, Amber, Declan, Rory, Kiel, Kayla and Kristen; brothers, Baxter (Phyllis), Gilbert; sister, Joy; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Orlando (Emily), Alma, Beatrice, Albert, Hilda (Jim); and a large circle of family and friends. Army World War II, 1944-1945.
     Arrived Gander July 1947, employed signals (Aeradio) for 21 years, agent for "The Cooperators" for 21 years. During his 66 years in Gander in addition to building a home and raising a family, Bob was actively engaged in almost every facet of life in the growing community including Church, Legion, Masonic, Orange Lodge and education. Member Gander Branch #8 - Royal Canadian Legion, Branch President 1984-1986, awarded "Certificate of Merit" and "Lift Membership" by Dominion Command. Involved in Church since days of "Community Chapel" on airport. Chaired Fraser Road United Board of Management - 1983, 1984 and 1988. Chair or Board member Gander Consumers Co-op Society for 17 years. Involved in Education at local and provincial level for 25 years. President, Regional and Provincial Association School Tax Authority, Association Integrated School Board of Newfoundland, Chair/Secretary, Terra Nova Integrated School Board for 12 years. Past Worshipful Master Gander Lodge #16, Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador, Past Worship Master, Clarenville Lodge #23 GLNL., Past Worshipful Master Unity Lodge GLNL., District Deputy Grand Master District #3 GLNF. Awarded "Order Meritorious Service" Medal by Grand Lodge Most Excellent High Priest - Arklie Chapter #25 Grand Chapter Nova Scotia Royal Arch Masons. Awarded "The Joseph Conway Brown" medallion by Grand Chapter Nova Scotia for Meritorious Service. Grand High Priest Grand Chapter Nova Scotia with jurisdiction over PEI and Nfld. On formation of Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Nfld. Held office of Grand King then Grand High Priest. Awarded Moses "Munroe" medallion for distinguished service by Grand Chapter. First Thrice Illustrious Mast of Central Nfld. Council Royal and Select Masters Eastern Jurisdiction of Canada - Inspector General Nfld. District. First Presiding Preceptor Crosswords Preceptor #80 Gander Sovereign Great Priory and Canada awarded "Knight Commander of the Temple" by Sovereign Great Priory. Founding member and Treasurer of Terra Neuve York Rite College #184, St. John's. Past Most Puissant Sovereign Redeemer Conclave #33 Red Cross of Constantine, Past Prior, Nfld. Priory #64, York Cross of Honor. Constituted a Knight Priest ST. Andrews Tabernacle #85 Holy Royal Arch Knights Temple Priest, Halifax, NS. Recently presented "Order of the Purple Cross" - which is highest honor that can be bestowed on a York Rite Mason in North America. Founding member of Mazol Temple and First Present Gander Shrine Club. Past Worshipful Master Royal Orange Lodge #240, Gander. Past Worshipful/Preceptor Skways Preceptory #1291, Gander.
     Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Funeral service was held on December 20th at Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Passed peacefully away on December 17, 2002 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Isabel Dailo Ac-ac in her 88th year. Predeceased by husband Jose Ac-ac, brothers Frank and Marcelino Dailo, and sisters Paz Dailo Razon and Ligaya Dailo. Left with loving memories are son Joe (Tessie) of the Philippines; daughters, Ester (Tom) Scott of Gander, Mario (Mario) Solangon of Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Joseph, Bethel and Mario Solangon, Michelle, Mindy and Melissa Scott, Edwin, Michael, Jennifer and Joy Ac-ac; great-grandchildren Jaymar, Bujo, Pia and Carla. Predeceased by husband Theophilus Goodyear - 1981, and husband, George Chaulk - 2001. Predeceased by her husband, Lewis; son Albert; brothers, Levi and Allan Harbin; sisters, Mariah Gillingham, Sarah Fancey, Eliza Jane Nippard and Elizabeth Harbin. Passed peacefully away on December 21, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Darius Crocker of Greenspond, age 82 years. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Rebecca Jane Crocker; brothers, Frank, John, Maxwell; step-sisters, Emma Janes, Mollie Manning, Louise Burry and Edith Paul. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Olive, residing at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, sister Elizabeth Osmond of Gambo; several nieces and nephews; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on December 23rd at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Greenspond, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment followed at The Interfaith Cemetery, Greenspond. HODDER, Frank (Dec. 5, 1929 - Dec. 22, 2002) -
Passed peacefully away on December 22, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Frank Hodder, age 73 years. Predeceased by wife Effie 19969, daughter Gloria 1984, parents Shem and Olive Hodder, Stoneville. Left to mourn are daughters, Annie (Calvin), Thompson, Man., Louise (Mark), Thompson, Man., Margaret, Gander; sons, Lloyd (Christine), Toronto, Morley (Gloria), Horwood, Sterling, Gander, Barry (Michelle), Port Albert, Steven, Horwood; also a long time friend Margaret Troake, Horwood; eight grandchildren, Jason and Treena Tucker, Gander, Trevor and Ashley Hodder, Horwood, April and Tanya Hodder, Port Albert, Jonathan Hodder/Szyszio, Thompson, Man., and Victoria Hodder, Gander; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Madison Plowman, Gander; brothers Harold (Lucy), Stoneville, Edmund (Grace), Stoneville; sisters, Annie (Newton), Victoria Cove, Effie, Gander, half-brother Gordon Hodder, Ont.; step-brother Stanley Edwards, Ont.; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on December 23, 2002 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, Darius Sheppard of Pool's Island, age 82. Predeceased by parents, Albert and Sarahann; son Clarence; and brother-in-law, Willis Spurrell. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Helen; sons, Edwin (Martha), Joe (Laura), Clarence (Mildred Rodgers), all of Pool's Island, Clayton (Betty) of Brampton, Ont., and Raymond (Norma) of St. John's; daughter Lillian (Dawson Clarke) of Kelligrews; brother Eric (Frances) of Pool's Island; sister Bessie Spurrell of Pool's Island; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other family and friends. Brenda, our loving friend, left our lives on December 25, 2002 at age 33, to be with our heavenly Father. Left with fond and loving memories are husband John; son Steven; mother Norma and step-father Francais Rose; brother Glenden; sisters, Melinda, Barbara and Pauline; step-sister, Roslyan, Dora, Lucheia and Tammy Rose; niece Ashley; nephews, Douglas, Jeremy and Jaden; brothers-in-law, Kevin Crowell and David Edgar; sister-in-law, Sharron Thistle, aunts, uncles, cousins, the Rowe Family and all her loving friends. Left to mourn with many wonderful memories are his children, Theresa King (Joseph), Placentia, Loretta Ennis (James), Placentia, Hilda Murphy (Stephen), Keels, John (Joan), St. Brendan's and Thomas (Marcella), St. John's; grandchildren, Cindy, Jeff, Todd, Mike, Kelly Ann, Angie, Craig, Renee, Rita, Jillian, Scott, Brian, Darrell, Duane, Diana and Stephen, great-grandchildren, Mark, Liam and Taran; two brothers, Michael James and Joseph, St. John's, sisters-in-law, Catherine Croke, Toronto, Angela Fleming, Torbay and Ann Whalen, St. John's; brother-in-law, John Mackey, St. John's; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Gabriel's Parish Church, St. Brendan's. Funeral service took place on December 31st. Interment followed at the R.C. Cemetery, St. Brendan's. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home Ltd., Gander.

CHURCHILL, S. Isabel -
Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, December 28, 2002, S. Isabel Churchill of Bay Roberts, aged 65 years, retired teacher of some 25 years. Mrs. Churchill began teaching with the Bay of Islands-St. George's Integrated School Board at Broadway Elementary School in the early 70's. In 1973, she was transferred to C.C. Lough in Elementary School, Corner Brook where she gave dedicated service to the students until her retirement in 1986. She leaves to mourn her brother, Winston Isaac churchill; aunt doris Churchill (nee Badcock); many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Josiah Noel conducted the funeral service at St. Matthew's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Bay Roberts on Tuesday, December 31st, 2002. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or cards of remembrance may be sent to Mr. Winston Churchill, P.O. Box 1297, Bay Roberts, NL, A0A 1G0. Phone calls greatly appreciated, 7886-2680. Funeral arrangements were by Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts.

GIBBONS, Maude -
Passed away on December 29, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mrs. Maude Gibbons, in her 81st year. Left with loving memories are husband, Stanley; son, David Gillard (Yvonne) of Cobourg, ON; daughter, Dianne Gross of Gander; grandchildren, Jackie Natiotis (Chris), James Gillard (Susan Bennett), Amanda Gross, Nichole Gross; son-in-law, Larry Gross of Gander. Funeral service was held on January 1, 2003 at the Pentecostal Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Arthritis society or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

WOOLFREY, Clarence W.
Passed peacefully away on December 29, 2002 , Clarence W. Woolfrey, in his 78th year. Predeceased by Lillie, his wife of 52 years, also parents Samuel and Emily Woolfrey; sister Maggie and brothers Walter and Reginald, all of Lewisporte. Left to mourn are son, Garry (Sheila) of Gander; daughter, Janna Turner (Ben) of Gander, daughter Kara Pharoah (Dennis) of Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Michael Woolfrey (Nancy) of Gander, Krista Woolfrey of Kingston, ON, Jolene and Janelle turner, Ottawa, ON, Stephanie and Mark Pharoah, Ottawa, ON; great-grandson, Aaron Woolfrey, Gander, brother Nelson Woolfrey and sister Bernice Spencer, both of Lewisporte; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held on January 2rd at Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Gander, at a later date, to be determined. Donations in memoriam to the charity of one's choice.

HARVEY, Sandy Gordon -
Passed peacefully away on December 30, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Sandy Gordon Harvey in his 83rd year. Predeceased by father George and mother Matilda Harvey; sister-in-law Amelia Lizzie Harvey. Left with loving memories are wife Ettie (nee Coles); sons, Kenneth of Clarenville, Albert (Elsie) of Middle Arm, Larry (Nancy) of Middle Arm; daughters, Ruby Wheaton (Heber) of Frederickton, Sadie Park (Edward) of Frederickton, Lorraine Goodyear (Bruce) of Badger's Quay, Linda Burton (Oliver) of Edmonton, AB; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny (Josie) of Gander, Lindsey of Carmanville, Wallace (Ivy) of Carmanville, Samuel (Effie) of Gambo, Eward of Mississauga, ON., sisters Patsy Abbott (Cyril) of Musgrave Harbour, Jane Abbott (Nathan) of Musgrave Harbour, Lena (Hayward) of Glenwood; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on January 2nd at the Salvation Army Church, Carmanville. Interment at Salvation Army Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey's Funeral Home, Carmanville.
