FITZGERALD, David Edward
October 5, 1941 - August 13, 2018

On August 13, 2018 Mr. David (Dave) E. Fitzgerald of Glovertown, NL, formerly of Bell Island, NL and Fort McMurray, AB, closed his eyes for the last time. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Fay, son David (Paulette); two daughters Rosemary (Dion) Ford, and Deanna (Aaron) Blaquiere, and four grandchildren; Jordan Fitzgerald, Courtney (Jeremy) Wood, Kelsey Ford and Carter Blaquiere. Loving husband, father and grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and much more, Dave was always ready with a quick joke ,a good laugh and a cold beer. He was always ready to lend a hand or an ear if you needed one and had such a friendly, easy-going nature.
He was born and grew up on Bell Island with his mother, six sisters and three brothers. He lost his father to a boating accident at the tender age of 14. After serving in the Canadian military, he moved to Cambridge ON where he met Fay. They were married shortly after and began their life together, having three children and moving to Fort McMurray, AB where they laid down roots and raised their family. After retirement, and the kids were grown, they moved around a bit before they settled in Glovertown, NL.
17 months ago Dave was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that landed him in the hospital for the last five months. He fought with all his might, with grace and dignity, and with Fay by his side. Not once did he complain, he always had his humour about him and never let us see if he was worried or scared. He was, as he always was, protecting us. He was the strongest, yet softest person and a friend and mentor to many.
Dave was predeceased by his parents David and Julia Fitzgerald, his sisters Lillian, Mary (Stoyles), Margaret (Fahey), brother Tom (Judy); nephew Big Tom, brothers-in-law George Cole, Myles O'Brien and Brian (Joanne) O'Brien. He leaves behind sisters Elsie (Frank) Layte, Rita Cole, Edna (Glenn) Spencer; and brothers Kevin (Carol) and Edward (Elaine); brother's-in-law Carl (Nancy) O'Brien, Bill (Sandra Conway) O'Brien, sisters-in-law Carmel (Wink) Power, Nellie Butler, Betty (Ron) Bickford, Sharon (Chris Saunders) O'Brien and Bernardine O'Brien; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
As per his wishes, cremation has already taken place. Services will be announced and held at a later date on Bell Island, NL and in Edmonton, AB. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his Go Fund Me page, https://www.gofundme.com/manage/help-us-bring-dad-home-to-mom
God Speed Dave, Dad, Pop. Our love goes with you. Rest easy, we'll take it from here

MOSS, Joan Marie (nee Buckle)
September 12, 1931 - August 7, 2018
Joan Moss
was a force. An unwavering source of love and kindness. She was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, and grandmother. Born in Corner Brook, on the west coast of Newfoundland she has touched the lives of everyone she met until peacefully passing yesterday in Gander with her son, Clane. Joan was a caregiver, a mother to all. It came naturally to her. From her siblings to grandchildren and everywhere in between, Joan shared her love of life and how beautiful an experience it could be. She loved the simple things like the flowers in her garden and trinkets at flea markets, while also cherishing the excitement of big city theater and glamorous shopping malls. She loved her family and her friends in the way love should be, non-judgmental and unconditional. Joan Moss was a force. She made waves in life and her kindness ripples on in us forever.
Joan was predeceased by husband, Clary Moss; infant daughter, Laura; parents, Wilfred and Laura Buckle and brother Llewelyn Buckle. She leaves with loving memories her children, Cheryl (Gary), Clane (Stephanie) and Duane (Tracy); her grandchildren, Stephen, Amanda, Lucas, William, Ashley, Kerri-Lynn, Brian, Patrick and new baby James; her loving siblings David, Lloyd, Rosalie and Edgar, as well as many in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Joan will have visitation hours at Stacey's Funeral home in Gander from 7-9 PM on Aug 8th and Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 Mark Ave in Corner Brook, from 6-9 PM on August 9th. The service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 25 Main Street in Corner Brook at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 11th with internment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Finally, Joan wanted a celebration of life gathering which will be held at the Glynmill Inn at 3:30 PM following the internment.
