Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander on August 3, 2010, Frank Simms, age 77 years. Predeceased by his parents, Allan and Blanche Simms, sister, Juanita Barnes, brothers, Everett and William and grandson, Andrew Fellows. Left with loving memories are his wife, Joy, sons, Neil (Lynn), Irving of Fall River, N.S., Winston (Nancy) of St. John's, Christopher (Arlene) of California, daughters, Doreen (Fred) of Fall River, NS, Goldie of Corner Brook, Joan (Patrick) of St. John's, Carol (Craig) of Fall River, NS, Cathy (Kirk) of Gander, brothers, Eric (Ruby) of Main Point, Wilson (Mercedes) of Gander, Malcolm of Davidsville, Peter of ON: sisters, Sadie of Gander, Ruby of ON, Margaret (Ingwald) of Gambo, Isabel (Ross) of Port Albert; 20 grandchildren; also a large circle of family and friends. Rested at the Gospel Hall, Main Point. Funeral Service was held Friday August 6th at 2:00 P.M.. Interment Gospel Hall Cemetery. HUNT, Ella Mae (nee Pickett) -
Passed away at James Paton Memorial Hospital on Thursday, August 5th, 2010, Ella Mae Hunt, aged 76 of Centreville. During the last 11 ½ years, Ella fought a courageous battle with cancer and finally passed away in the loving presence of her family. Ella lived everyday to the fullest with great hope and strength despite her illness. Her desire and pleasure came from spending time on Silver Fox Island with family and friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband, Llewellyn of 57 years; daughters, Gail Grimes (Harvey), Wareham. Lisa Fraser (Harold), Truro, NS; sons, Roy (Christine, her guardian angel), Shediac, NB, Job (Cathy), Wareham, Carl (Neta), Wareham, Calvin (Beverly), Labrador City; sisters, Deliah Cutler, Centreville and Irene Paul, Port-Aux - Basque; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and friends. A special thanks to Dr. Adams and staff at the Health Science Center as well as Dr. St. Croix and staff at James Paton Memorial Hospital. Funeral service took place at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Centreville on Sunday, August 8, 2010 with Rev. Shaun O'Connor officiating. Interment followed at The Anglican Cemetery, Centreville. ABBOTT, Weldon -
Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander on Friday, August 7, 2010, Mr. Weldon Abbott of Musgrave Harbour in his 64th year. Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Maude Abbott, three brothers, Selby, Clifford and James, and sister-in-law, Vida. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his three daughters, Sarah Abbott of Montreal, Que, Angela Abbott of Montreal, Que, and Wendy Abbott (Arvish Sood) of Montreal, Que, three brothers, Tobias (Susie) of Musgrave Harbour, Maxwell (Barbara) of Dawson Creek, BC, and Boyce (Sheila) of Gander; two sisters, Joy Foley (Fred) of New Liskeard, Ont and Beulah Oakley (Lewis) of Wesleyville, one granddaughter, Lily-Maude Thibodeau of Montreal, Que; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Abbott of Musgrave Harbour and Nita Abbott of Musgrave Harbour and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Monday, August 9th from the Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour. Passed peacefully away at Bonnews Lodge on August 9, 2010, Stella Welcher, age 81 years of Valleyfield. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Welcher (1982), parents, Stanley and Jersha Knee, two Sons, Earl and Wilson Welcher. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her sons, Robert (Hazel) of Valleyfield, Earl (Judy) of Valleyfield, Elvis (Jeanette) of Brookfield, Joey (Grace) of Gander, Stanley of Valleyfield; daughters, Marie (David Burry) of Valleyfield, Christine (Wes Sturge) of Badger's Quay, Diane (Darren Spurrell) of Badger's Quay, 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and many friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her two sons, Mervin (Regina) of Halifax, NS, Jason (Shawna) of Courtice, ON, two daughters, Valda (Raymond Nunley) of Canyon Lake, Texas, Cindy Goodyear (Bruce Allen) of Ile Perrot, Quebec, mother, Annie Saunders of Hare Bay, sisters, Stella Lambert of Hare Bay, Julia (Victor Duffett) of Scarborough, ON, Shirley (Sidney Goodyear) of Hare Bay, Merdina Barron of Hare Bay, brother-in-law; Nathan Goodyear (Minnie) of Bishop Falls; grandchildren, Krista McGrath (Mark), Tarrah Pittman (Todd), Emily Allen, Lauren and Stephen Goodyear, Tyler and Brianna Goodyear; great-grandchildren, Nash McGrath, Bailey and Nicholas Pittman and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Left with loving memories are her sons, David (Queen), Gordon (Susan) of Gander, NL; daughters, Carol (Dave Graham) of Bedford, NS, Noreen (Charlie Ralph) of Gander, NL; brother, Ron (Lorraine) Robbins of St. John's, NL; sister, June Whalen of Caplin Cove, Trinity Bay; sister-in-law, Sharon Robbins of Marystown, NL; grandchildren, Christine, (Byron Blackmore ), Gordie (Becky Harris), Joshua, Jeffrey, great-grandchild, Zachary, and a large circle of family and friends. Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at the James Paton Memorial Health Center, Gander on August 15th, 2010, Roy Richards, age 58 years. Predeceased by his mother, Alice (Hanlon) and sister, Sharon. Left with loving memories are his father, Charles Dawson Roy, brothers, Gary of Gander, Tony (Joanne) of Gander, sister, Brenda of Gander and special niece, Cordelia of Wabush, step-nieces, Hayley and Jill of Gander, step-nephew Gregory of Gander, also a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by parents Norman and Isabelle Handcock of Eastport, and brothers, Lewis (Beatrice) and Arthur. Left with loving and abiding memories are her sons, James (Maryanne) and Ross (Vivian), Toronto, ON.; twin sister and faithful life-long companion, Catherine Emily "Katie" Babstock, Eastport; sister, Annie (Capt. Albert) Piercey, Mount Pearl, brothers, Alpheus (Josephine), Eastport and Gordon (Margaret Rose), Salvage; sister-in-law, Gertrude Handcock Trenton, ON; grandchildren, Candace, Adam, Jared, Aaron and Tracy (James) McAndrew; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Warren, Jayla, Justin and Cole; nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. The family expresses sincere appreciation to Karen Oram, Pauline Perry and the caregivers of Birchview Manor for their attentive care over ten years and especially for their exceptional friendship, love and tenderness shown to Martha during her final weeks. Passed peacefully away on August 22, 2010 at Chancellor Park Nursing Home, Winifred Pelley, aged 88 years. Predeceased by parents, Flora and Lockhart Penney, husbands, Jack Pike and Boyd Pelley, brother, Jack Penney. Our little Angel Sydney Ann Rogers who was at Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto, Ontario went to heaven and joined other little Angels on August 24, 2010 at age 4 months. Predeceased by her great-grandfather, Garland Rogers and great-grandparents, Annie and George Russell. Leaving to mourn with beautiful memories are her parents, Troy and Jessica Rogers, sister, Kiersten of Whitby, Ontario, grandparents, Roy and Pearl Rogers, Ross and Trudy Firmage, great-grandparents, Jesse and Sarah Hunt, Marie Rogers, Clarence and Nellie Firmage, aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of other relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that we announced the passing of our baby boy on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Macon was born on May 10, 2010 to Shawn MacDonald and Kimberley Hicks who loved and cherished the short time they had with him. Predeceased by grandfather, Kenneth McDonald, great-grandfather ,Thomas Fry, great-grandmother, Annie Fry, brother, Myles Shawn McDonald. Passed away suddenly at her residence at Wesleyville on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, Greta Stokes, age 86 years of Deadman's Bay. Predeceased by her husband, Archibald; parents, Pearce and Eva Stokes; 3 infant sons; brothers, John and Baxter Stokes; sister, Adelaide Burton; brothers-in-law Harold Burton and Gerald Templeman; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Stokes, Daisy Stokes and Eliza Stokes. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son, Wesley (Rosalind) of Deadman's Bay; daughters, Marie (Cyril Hicks) of Pound Cove, Florrie (Boyd Stagg) of Cape Freels, Naida of Wesleyville; sister, Zeta Templeman of Lumsden; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
