Passed peacefully away on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Health Science Centre, St. John's, Jabez Ammon Howell, aged 72 years. Predeceased by his parents, Aubrey & Delilah, sisters, Theresa Annie and Theresa Helen. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Pearl of 48 years; son, Gary of Halifax, NS; daughter, Maria (Bert)Frampton of Massey Drive, NL; brothers, Walter (Josephine) of Mount Pearl, NL, William (Stella-deceased) of Templeman, NL as well as a large number of other family and friends. Passed suddenly on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Des Power, aged 49 years. Predeceased by his mother, Gladys Power. Passed suddenly away on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at his residence in Gander, Ian Eisan, aged 58 years. Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Marie (MacLennan) Eisan. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his daughters, Krista (Paul Cunningham) of Brazil, Melanie of Halifax, NS and Renee (Jason Forney) of Harrisburg, Penn; grandchildren, Aiden and Addisyn of Pennsylvania, and Natasha; brothers, Terry (Bernadette) of Gander, NL and Roy (Ruth) of Gander, NL; three special nephews, Christopher (Jillian), Craig (Nancy) and Bradley; special friend, Loretta Hart, as well as a large circle of extended relatives and friends. WALSH, Matthew Patrick
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2008, in the presence of his family at Lakeside Homes, Gander, NL, Matthew Patrick Walsh, aged 86 years. Predeceased by his parents and four (4) younger brothers, Albert ( Lena), Cyril (Edna), Kenneth, and Michael. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Dorothy (Genge) of 61 years; two sons, Donald (Bonnie) of Gander, NL, and Gerald of Sudbury, ON; four daughters, Mary (Robert) Griffiths, Marie (Frank) James, Margaret (Wilson) Beaton, each of Gander, NL, and Donna (Paul) Porter of St. John's, NL; nine grandchildren, Michael, Nagille, Melanie, Patrick, Alex, Adam, Daniel, Jeremy and Matthew; three brothers, Leonard (Ann), Walter (Geraldine), Joseph, all of Holyrood, NL; Corey of Sudbury, ON; as well as a large number of other family and friends. Mass took place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. with internment at All Saints Cemetery. Matthew worked as a Department of Transport fireman at the Gander Airport from 1945 to 1982 and also volunteered as a fireman with the Town of Gander Fire Department. He was an avid woodsman and dearly loved hunting and fishing. Donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Reuben Ploughman, aged 84 years. Predeceased by his brothers, Walter, John, Frank, Harry, sisters, Alvina and Mary. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Myrtle of 59 years, sisters, Florence (Arthur-deceased) White of Trinity NL, Lizzie (Eric-deceased) Hiscock of Bonavista, NL; sisters-in law, Lucy Lush (Walter Lush-deceased), Adelaide (Hiram) Elliott of Gander NL, Margaret (Robert) White of Brantford, ON, as well a large circle of family and friends. HICKEY, Ida Mae (nee Squire) –
Passed peacefully away on August 11, 2008 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s, Ida Mae Hickey of Happy Adventure, aged 63 years. Predeceased by her husband, Jim and parents, Daymond and Helen. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children, Bessie O’Grady (Mike), Norman Squire, Leon Hickey; grandchildren, Samantha, Stephen, Raymond, Jarvis, Jaydon; great-granddaughter, Morgan; brother, Nathan (Triff); sisters, Kathleen, Mary (Fred), Gertie (Al); nieces and nephews, and a large circle of family and friends. The funeral service was held on August 15th at Holy Cross Church, Eastport with Reverend Thoms officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. SKEFFINGTON, Allister John
Passed peacefully away on August 17, 2008 at Lakeside Home, Gander, Allister John Skeffington, aged 76 years after a long and courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. Predeceased by his brothers, Eugene, Maxwell and Alonzo. Left to mourn his loving wife, Norm (Saunders); daughter, Tracey (Alex Quinonez); granddaughter, Mackenzie; devoted sister, Irene; sisters-in-law, Flossie, Wynne, Mary, Effie, Faye, Joy (Dave), Donna (Pat); brothers-in-law, Vincent (Charlotte), John (Beth), surrogate brother, Lonze (Betty) and a large circle of family and friends. REID, Eli
Passed peacefully away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Notre Dame Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, Eli Reid of Durrell, NL, aged 90 years. Predeceased by his first wife, Edna Burton and parents, Lewis and Thurza Reid. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Annie; sons, Larry (Bernice) of Gander and Everett (Sandy) of Toronto; grandchildren, Paula (Paul), Denise, Sean,(Dayna), Ryan (Ashley) and Debby (Vince); great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Michael, Matthew, Caitlyn, Nicole and Brittany; brother-in-law, Gordon (Ruby) Burton and his sisters-in-law, Margaret and Ruth Burton. Also remembered by his extended Lewis family, Bert (Marie), Howard (Roseann), Calvin (Goldie), Jim (Joan), Phoebe ( Norman), Norma (Raymond), Donna (Roland) and their families. He will be fondly remembered by his nephews and nieces, especially the “travelling lady" Mazie and by many other relatives and friends. BOLAND, Dora Jane
Passed peacefully away on August 19, 2008 at Brookfield Hospital, Dora Jane Boland, aged 78 years of Indian Bay. Predeceased by her parents, Llewellyn and Sadie Parsons; brother, Eric Parsons; great-grandson, Luke Glen Parsons. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband, Harry; four sons, Llewellyn (Marie) of Pool’s Island, Scott (Barbara) of Goulds, Albert (Karen) of Sunnyside, Deon (Elizabeth) of St. John’s; two daughters, Joan (Raymond Pearce) of Mount Pearl, Betty (Kevin Collins) of Indian Bay; one sister, Olive (Ralph Yetman) of Centreville; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on August 22nd at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Indian Bay with Rev. Wayne Short officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Indian Bay. SHEPPARD, Annie Maud
Passed peacefully away on August 20, 2008 at her residence in Badger’s Quay, Annie Maud Sheppard, Predeceased by her parents, Percy and Ethel Knee; husband, Oliver and sisters, Nellie Knee and Megan Knee. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Harry (Karen), St. John’s and Edric (Linda), Badger’s Quay; brother, Job Knee (Viola), St. John’s; sisters, Lucy Knee, St. John’s and Mae Andrews (Charles), Wesleyville; two grandchildren, Darren and Leann and a large circle of other family and friends. WHEATON, Ruby C.
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Ruby Wheaton announce her passing on August 23, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. Born February 8, 1925, in Frederickton, NL, a daughter of the late George & Bertha Wheaton. Predeceased by her sister, Vera and her brother, Overton. Left with fond and loving memories are her sister, Wavey (Mike) Curry; sister-in-law, Jeanette Wheaton of Frederickton; nephew and nieces, George (Marion) Wheaton, Marguarite (Bert) Collins, Judy (late John) Rudolph, of Frederickton, Wendy (Terry) Campbell, Michelle (Chris) Jensen of Halifax. She will be fondly remembered by a circle of close relatives and friends.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his daughter, Kelly of Calgary, AB; son, Trevor of Gander, NL; two brothers, Clarence (Dinah) Powell, Chesley Powell of fort McMurray, AB; four sisters, Elizabeth (Terry) Hoskins of Oshawa, ON, Beulah Broderick of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; Marie (Walter) Joyce of Wintersville, Ohio, Jean (Charlie) of Catalina, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Emily Chipman (Baker); sister, Winnie, step-granddaughter. Allison Penny, sister-in-law Jessie Chipman. Left with fond and loving memories are his daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Penton of Grand Falls-Windsor; brother, Harvey Jr. of Harbour Grace; grandchildren, Adam and Kendra; girlfriend, Sonya, stepdaughter, Renee Pittman of Ontario; step-granddaughters, Daisy, Danielle and Dixie of Ontario; also a large circle of relatives and friends.
