FLYNN, Grace -
Passed peacefully away August 1, 2005 at Brookfield Hospital, Grace Flynn of Musgrave Harbour, age 76. Predeceased by parents, Chesley and Amelia Guy; husband, Lindsay; two sons, Weldon and Lindsay Junior; three sisters, Effie Parsons, Virginia Bemister and Belle Stokes; three brothers, Charlie Guy, Alex Guy and Glynn Guy; and granddaughter, Tammy. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, George (Dulcie) and Larry, all of Musgrave Harbour; daughter, Beatrice (Randy) of Musgrave Harbour; brothers, Norman (Doreen), Ralph (Joan), Newman (Alva), Bruce (Daphne), all of Musgrave Harbour, George (Mary) of St. John's, and Weldon (Leann Brodie) of Toronto, Ontario; sister, Josephine Harvey (Stewart) of Musgrave Harbour; granddaughter, Natalie Stratton (Wesley) of Aspen Cove; two great-grandsons, Cameron and Tristan; and a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was held on August 4th at the Salvation Army Citadel, Musgrave Harbour with Major Anstey officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour/Pound Cove.

PRICE, Cyril John -
Passed peacefully away at his residence, Golden Legion Manor, Gander on August 8. 2005, Cyril John Price in his 85th year. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Ellen Price; brother, Augustus; sisters, Lillian Pond and Mabel Elliot. Left to mourn his loving wife, Carrie; stepchildren, Daphne (Harry) Eastman, Roger (Verbena) Budgell; step-grandchildren, Lori and Daniel Budgell, Trevor and Brian Eastman; brother, Wesley of Lewisporte; nephews and nieces and many friends in Lewisporte and Gander. Funeral service was held on August 11th at St. Matthew's United Church, Lewisporte, conducted by Rev. Arthur Elliott. Burial at the United Cemetery in Lewisporte.

KELLY, Elizabeth Mary -
Passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, Elizabeth Mary Kelly, age 98 years. Predeceased by her husband, Andrew Joseph, 1991; and her son, Joseph, 1996. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her two daughters: Cecilia Spurrell (Doug) of St. John's and Alice of Gambo; nine sons: Cyril (Joan) of Glenwood, Andrew Jr. (Nellie) of Gambo, Edward (Pauline) of Gander, Steve (Patricia) of St. John's, Bill of Gambo, Gus (Mary) of Gander, Roy (Nora) of St. John's, Richard (Patricia) of Glovertown and Ron (Bonita) of Wabush, Labrador; also, forty-four grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; and nineteen great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Pritchett's Funeral Home in Gambo. Funeral service was held on August 12that Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Gambo.

CHAULK, George (Dec. 6, 1929 - Aug. 11, 2005) -
Passed peacefully away on August 11, 2005 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's, after a long and courageous battle, George Chaulk of Victoria Cove, age 75 years. Predeceased by his parents, Annie and George Chaulk and adoptive parents, Jonathan and Bridget Keeping, all of Burnt Islands; son, Owen; brothers, Jim Chaulk, Ralph Chaulk, Calvin Chaulk, Jim Keeping and Wilfred Keeping; sisters, June (Locke) and Harriett (Keeping); and brothers-in-law, Owen Torraville and Harry Seaward. Left to mourn his loving wife of 54 years, Doreen; daughters, Rose Ann (Kevin) Newman, Gaylene (Brian) Buckle, Judy (Pat) Collins; sons, Barry (Edith), Aubrey (Dianne); 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Beulah (Philip) Williams; sisters-in-law, Ethel Chaulk, Ada Chaulk, Lorraine Chaulk, Melissa Chaulk, Florence Torraville and Jean Seward; brother-in-law, Wallace Locke; and numerous dear friends and relatives. A special thank you to the nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, staff and clergy at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's and the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, and to all our friends, neighbors and our new friends in St. John's and Gander areas who have helped in so many ways. O'NEILL (English), Elsie -
Passed peacefully away on August 17, 2005, surrounded by family and friends at the Palliative Care Unit of the Miller Centre, age 82. Predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. O'Neill; sisters, Rose Puddicombe, Theresa Crotty, Annie Brown, Mary English; brothers, Charlie, Pat, Leo and Bill; parents, Ambrose and Mollie (Power) English. Left to mourn daughters, Edwardine White (Mike), Alice Miles (Harold), Mollie O'Neill (Knut Larsen), Peggy Walsh (Frank); son, Patrick O'Neill (Trudy Dwyer); grandchildren, Keith White (Joelle), Michelle Gaylor (Steven), Angela White, Stephanie Miles (fiancé, Derek Nippard), Jennifer Miles (Bill Brown), John Miles, Emily O'Neill-Larsen, Karsten O'Neill-Larsen, Kim Walsh (Luke Lushman), Dana Walsh; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Riley White, Haley and Jacob Gaylor; sisters-in-law, Mary O'Neill, Anne McDivitt (Mac), Nell Godsell; nieces and nephews of the families English, Puddicombe, Crotty, Godsell, Brown and McDivitt; also a large circle of friends, particularly neighbours, Silvia and Edward French, Wanda Allen and Betty McNiven; as well as other relatives and friends. Rested at Carnell's Funeral Home. Funeral mass was held August 22nd from St. Pius X Parish, St. John's. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family on August 19, 2005 at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, Elma Edison, age 73 years. Predeceased by his son, Paul (2002) and brother, Lorne. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Sheila; daughter, Beverly; sons, Fraser (Valerie), Larry (Ann) of Mt. Pearl, Jeff (Sheila) of Gander; grandchildren, Christopher (Yvonne) of Calgary, Wendy Edison-Freake (Craig), Ian (Tracey), Charlotte, Nathan, Tammy Kinsella (Robbie), Jamie Jones (fiancé, Ginelle), Ryan, of Moncton, NB; Shannon (fiancé, Ben) of Guelph, ON, Leah of Gander; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Caroline; brother, Gilvey (Nina) of Ontario; and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. OAKE, Flora E. -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on August 19, 2005, Flora E. Oake, aged 54 years. Predeceased by her mother, Hazel (Bauld), father, Angus Francis; brother, Cordell Francis. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband, Frank Oake; sons, Cory (Barbara) of Saskatchewan and Christopher of Saskatchewan; step-sons, Gary (Nan) of Manitoba, Dennis/Lyn (Heather) of Nova Scotia, Robert of Saskatchewan and Danny of Nova Scotia; daughters, Stephanie (Rodney Blake) of Newfoundland, Jennifer of Alberta, Natasha of Newfoundland and Samantha of Newfoundland; step-daughters, Darlene of Alberta and Brenda (Roger) of Ontario; brothers, Lionel of Ontario and Clyde of Ontario; sisters, Helen of Ontario, Sybil of Alberta, Marlene of Newfoundland and Mona of Alberta, 15 Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as a large number of family and friends. Rested at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Victoria Cove. Funeral service was held August 24th with interment at the Anglican Cemetery in Rodger's Cove. STARES, Robert Albert -
Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family, at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on August 20th, 2005, Robert Albert Stares. Predeceased by his father and mother, Revelyn and Jean Stares; brother, John and father-in-law, Frederick Bishop. Leaving to mourn with fond and happy memories his loving wife, Iris (nee Bishop); son, Andrew, his wife Kellie and their children, Kendra and Alexander of Gander; son, Mark and his wife Sandra of St. John's. Also leaving to mourn his sister, Jean and her husband Bern Fitzpatrick of Bell Island and there children, Connie, Karen and Shannon and families; mother-in-law, Clara Bishop; sister and brother-in-law and exceptional friends, Jean and Roy Jenkins of Gander and their children Brent, Craig and Susan and their families; sister-in-law, Cecille Stares and her children, Joshua, John and Simon of St. John's. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the James Paton Memorial Hospital and Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Clinic for their kind and loving care for the last three and a half years. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. H. POLLOCK, Phyllis -
Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre on August 21, 2005, Phyllis Pollock, age 77 years. Daughter of the late David and Jessie Taylor. Predeceased by her husband, Kelvin; sister, Doris; brothers, Headly and Gus. Left to mourn sisters, Eva Wells ( Ottawa ), Marion Downton (St. John's), Ruby Haley (Montreal); brothers, Fred (Florence) of Kelligrews, David (Eleanor) of Ontario and Harold (Marilyn) of Deek Lake; sisters-in-law, Gertrude, Joan and Sandra Taylor (St. John's); brother-in-law, Graham Snelgrove; special sister-in-law, Margaret Pollock; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held August 24, 2004 from Barrett's Chapel with inurnment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery . HILL, Lottie -
Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on August 22, 2005, Lottie Hill of Wesleyville, age 76 years. Predeceased by her parents, Peter and Jessie Green; husbands, Lewis Norris in 1974 and Edward Hill in 1992; son, Peter; and sister, Hazel. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Wayne (Shirley) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, David (Melvina) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, stepson, Morgan Hill (Goldie) of Wesleyville; stepdaughter, Marjorie (Jim Robbins) of Gander; special friend and companion, Howard Perry of Newtown; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on August 25th at Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville with Rev. Heather Sandford officiating, assisted by Rev. Marion Bowlby. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Wesleyville. Donations in her memory may be made to the Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville. HUSSEY, Dora -
Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander on August 24th, 2005 , Dora Hussey, age 92 years. Predeceased by husband, Stanley in 1994 and brother, Fred Keats in 1995. Left with loving memories are sons, Fred ( Mary) of Benton, Mervin (Mary) of Benton, Allister (Joselyn) of Benton, Leo ( Alice ) of Gander ; brother, Ted Keats of Benton; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on August 25, 2005 at Bonnews Lodge, Alfreda Rideout of Newtown, age 86 years. Predeceased by her husband, David Chesley Rideout; sister, Lena Pickett and brothers-in-law, Lloyd Strokes, Richard Pickett and Everett West. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, Gordon (Olive) and Lindburgh (Elizabeth), both from Newtown; daughters, Alice Norman (James) of Long Harbour, Reta Burry (Gerald) of Valleyfield; brother, Charles Stokes (Rita) of Cape Freels; sisters, Flossie Stokes of Cape Freels and Myrtis West of Lumsden; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on August 27th at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove with Rev. Miriam Bowlby officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Newtown. GETTEL, Lester F. -
It is with deep sadness and love that we announce that Lester F. Gettel passed peacefully away at his home in Fort Myers, Florida with his wife, Diane at his side on August 26, 2005. Predeceased by his father, Lester F. Sr. (1963), mother, Helen, (nee Nagel, 1971), brother, Harry (1964), and his former wife, Mary Ruth (nee Wood, 1987). Lester was a native of Philadelphia , PA. He was Vice-President and Manager of Allied Aviation Ogden Allied Corp., New York , NF Division, Aircraft Maintenance and Ground Services at Gander from 1948 to 1990, when he retired to reside in Florida. Left to mourn is his beloved wife, Diane (nee Steele), his daughter, Leslie Ruth (Lee) and son, Ross Wood, his granddaughter, Jennifer Brokenshire (nee Gettel), and his great-grandson, Colten William Wood Brokenshire. Poppa will always be fondly remembered and missed by his step-children, Frances, Richard and Robert, and his six step-grandchildren. Les or Mr. G., as he was known to his many friends and employees, was well respected and a kind, generous and caring individual who contributed greatly to the growth of the Gander Airport, to those in need, and to his community. He will be missed and forever loved. A private memorial to be held at a later date in Gander.

RAYMOND, William George -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on August 27, 2005, William (Bill) Raymond, age 84 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Tryphena; and brothers, Robert and Walter. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Eileen; sons, Jack and Ken (Ann); daughters, Brenda Geange (Alex), Jean Raymond (Bill); three sisters, Kathleen Martin (Fred), Margaret Milley (Don) and Freda Goldie; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on August 29th at St. Martin 's Cathedral. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Newfoundland Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour-Pound Cove.

WITCHER, Silas -
Passed peacefully away at his home in Baytona on August 28, 2005, Silas Witcher, aged 88 years. Predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Lily Witcher; stepfather, Eli Mews; son, Dennis; sisters, Myrtle, Julie, Maud; brother, George. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Edna; four daughters, Shirley Vivian (Scott) of Gander Bay South, Yvonne Hodder (Leo) of Halifax, Lily LeDrew (Wilfred) of Grand Falls-Windsor and Cavell Randell (Wayne) of Brampton, ON; five sons, David (Alice) of Montreal, Roland of Dartmouth, NS, Eugene (Helene) of Montreal, Ross of Grand Falls-Windsor and Barry (Mirta) of Scarborough, ON; two stepsisters, Dorothy and Levinia; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; also many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Beacon Pentecostal Tabernacle, Birchy Bay on September 1st with Pastor Paul Green officiating. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Baytona. Arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey's Funeral Home, Lewisporte. Pallbearers were sons, David, Roland, Eugene, Ross, Barry and nephew, Melvin Witcher. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

PENNEY, Philip Bazil (Dec. 9, 1923 - Aug. 30, 2005) -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on August 30, 2005, Philip Bazil Penney, age 81. Pre-deceased by his wife. Helen and daughter, Doreen. Leaving to mourn with never ending loving memories are sons, Patrick (Gloria); Brendan (Helen); Philip (Eileen), and Sean (Stephany); one daughter, Sharon (Doug Batson); son- in-law, Charlie; 11 grandchildren, Paddy (Shelly), Noleen (John), Erinn (Dudley), Kenneth (Vicki), Charlene (Jared), Shane (Lisa), Tony, Peter, Bobby, Daniel, Justin, Joshua,and Sydney; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Gabriel, Carrie, Madison, Dylan, Shawna, Felicia and Cruez; as well as many more precious relatives and friends. Funeral Mass was held on September 2nd at St. Joseph 's Roman Catholic Parish, Gander. Eulogy to be delivered after the Mass. Inurnment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. CROSS, Greta Daphne -
Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Seniors Home, Gander on August 31, 2005, Greta Daphne Cross, age 84 years. Predeceased by her husband, Samuel; son, John; parents, Susannah and Leander Lane; and brother, John Lane. Left to mourn her son, Everett (Marion); daughter-in-law, Beulah Cross, granddaughter, Susan Vokey (Karl); grandson, Samuel Cross (Gina); great-grandchildren, Ryan and Mark Vokey and Jack and Zoey Cross; sister-in-law, Violet Crown, as well as a number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Pritchett's Funeral Home. Funeral service was held on September 4th at Emmanuel United Church, Gambo. Donations in her memory may be made to the Emmanuel United Church Roof and Renovation Fund.
