STOKES, Manuel -
Passed away peacefully at Brookfield Hospital on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, Manuel Stokes of Cape Freels, age 95 years. Predeceased by his wife, Florence; daughter, Triffie Hillier; five infant children; sisters, Inez Stagg, Emily West and Maude Goodyear; brothers, Clarence, Frederick, Wesley and Samuel. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his son, Isaac (Florian), Cape Freels; daughters, Phyllis Batten (George), Bay Roberts, Pearl Fifield (Leslie), Cape Freels; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at the United Church, Lumsden with Pastor Larry Hall officiating assisted by George Way. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Cape Freels. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

WAKELEY, Daniel -
Passed away peacefully at Brookfield Hospital on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, Daniel Wakeley of Brookfield, age 62 years. Predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Isabella (Scott) Wakeley; sisters, Effie Howell, Helen, Annie; brother, Isaac; son, Douglas, age two and a half days old. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Pearl (Goodyear) Wakeley; sons, Barry (Shirley) of Wesleyville, Neil (Connie) of Brookfield, Shayne (Roma), Terry (Rosalind), both of Whitby, Ontario; brother, Albert (Avril) of Marystown; grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew, Trevor, Brady, Dylan, Kerrie and Kelsey; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at Ebenezer United Church, Brookfield on Saturday, August 7th with Rev. Heather Sandford officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Brookfield. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

CARTER, Frank -
Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Saturday, August 7, 2004, Frank Carter of Badger's Quay, age 80 years. Predeceased by his parents, Eliza and James Carter. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Pearl; sons, Joseph (Rosalind) of Chamberlains, CBS, Jeffrey (Brenda) of Badger's Quay; daughters, Yvonne Penny (Harry) of Mount Pearl, Joan MacDonald (Kelvin) of Foxtrap, CBS; grandchildren, Jason (Tracy), Damian, David (Lee), Robyn (Cecil), Angela (David), Eugene (Ashley), Andrew, Gina; great-grandchildren, Hannah; brothers, Edward (Alfreda), Claude (Margaret), Donald (Barbara), all of Badger's Quay; sister, Stella Johnson (Gordon), Scarborough, ON; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral took place at St. Alban's Anglican Church, Badger's Quay on Monday, August 9th with Rev. John Watton officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Greenspond. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, St. John's. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour-Pound Cove.

KEAN, Sadie -
Passed peacefully away in Corner Brook on Monday, August 9, 2004, Sadie Kean of Pound Cove. Predeceased by her husband, Claude; parents, Elijah and Elsie Mullett; brothers, Clarence, Garland, Clyde, Elijah and Sandy; sisters, Gertrude, Violet and Martha. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son, Wallace (Eleanor)of Corner Brook; daughters, Joyce (Don Hoyles) of Corner Brook, Karen (Gerry Sheppard) of Lark Harbour; grandchildren, Marilyn (Mike Gilbert), Penny (Neil Companion), Wally (Susan) Kean, Tracey (Corey Rideout), Dyland Sheppard; great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Emily Gilbert. Funeral took place on Wednesday, August 11th at the Anglican Church, Pound Cove. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Pound Cove with Rev. B. Newhook officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour-Pound.

GOODYEAR, Ross -
Passed away peacefully at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on August 14, 2004, Ross Goodyear of Carmanville, age 58 years. Predeceased by his father, Douglas Goodyear; grandparents, Jesse and Bertha West, John and Merab Goodyear; father-in-law, Charlie Humphries; sister-in-law, Pauline Humphries and niece, Lori Humphries. Left to mourn are his wife, Peggy (Humphries); sons, Darren (Gwen) and Dwayne; daughters, Michelle (Paul Wagg), Vanessa (Deon Hancott) and Jessica (Peter Mercer); grandchildren, Meagan, Lesley Anne, Mackenzie and Ryan; mother, Phyllis Goodyear; sisters, Leone (Allan Chubbs), Bonnie (Gary Gabriel) and Peggy (Gus Hernendez); mother-in-law, Martha Humphries, brothers-in-law, Leo Humphries (Bonnie), Jesse Humphries (Joyce) and Derrick Humphries (Paula); sisters-in-law, Wanda (Jim Goodyear) and Susan (Gordon Brown), aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Emmanuel United Church, Carmanville. Funeral services were held August 17, 2004 at 2 p.m. Interment at United Church Cemetery, Carmanville South. Arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey's Funeral Home, Lewisporte.

KELLOWAY, Marjorie -
Passed away at her residence in Musgrave Harbour on Sunday, August 15, 2004, Mrs. Marjorie Kelloway in her 62nd year. Predeceased by her husband, Eric; parents, Thomas and Sadie Cuff and sister-in-law, Carrie Cuff. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her three sons, Derrick (Patricia) of Mount Pearl, Wade of Broad Cove, and Glenn of Oshawa, ON; one daughter, Roxanne Peters (David) of Buchans; one brother, Harvey Cuff of Musgrave Harbour; two grandchildren, Kylee and Brady; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, August 18th from the Salvation Army Citadel, Musgrave Harbour. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour. HICKS, Martha -
Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, Mrs. Martha Hicks of Musgrave Harbour in her 84th year. Predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; son, Beaton; parents, Samuel and Jesse Humphries and sister, Hannah Tiller. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her two daughters, Florrie Butcher (Wallace) of Musgrave Harbour and Bonnie Melindy (George), Lumsden; daughter-in-law, Marion Hicks of Musgrave Harbour; brother, Hiriam Humphries of St. John's; 15 grandchildren, Glen, Brenda, Neil, Wayne, Bonnitta, Shirley, Dawn, David, Grace, Deanne, Tracy, Rodney, Denise, Brian and Kim, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Friday, August 20th from the Salvation Army Citadel, Musgrave Harbour. Interment Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour-Pound Cove.

WHEATON, Cecil Clayton -
Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 18, 2004, Cecil Clayton Wheaton, age 77 years 2 months. Born in Frederickton on June 18, 1927, Cecil worked as a logger and fisherman. Predeceased by parents, Enos and Louisa Wheaton; brothers, Garfield, Wesley, Harvey and William; sisters, Mary, Elsie, Rhoda. Left with loving memories are his wife, Milly (nee Vincent); sons, Wayne (Marie) of Frederickton, Clayton of Frederickton, Nelson (Sheila) of St. Albans; daughters, Kay (Walter) Hodder of Davidsville, Barbara (Derek) Francis of Clarke's Head; 11 grandchildren, Marilyn, Michael, Patrick, Mark, Matthew, Vicki, Jillian, Crystal, Gregory, Bradley and Rebecca; 4 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Desmond, Caleb and Ethan; brother, Otto (Margaret) of Frederickton; sisters, Annie (Jordan) Wheaton of Frederickton, Irene (Lester) Hillier of Gander; sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Gladys Wheaton, Nita Gibbons, Barbara (Donald) Carter; brothers-in-law, Alfred and Frank Vincent. Also, a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held Saturday, August 21st from the United Church, Frederickton. Interment United Cemetery, Frederickton. Arrangements through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander-Carmanville.

KENNEDY, Allan Thomas -
Following a short illness, Allan Kennedy of Gambo passed away unexpectedly at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Thursday, August 19, 2004 in his 78th year. Predeceased by his wife, Annie (1995). Allan leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories three daughters, Brenda (Ross), Marilyn (Lyndon), both of Corner Brook and Jacky (Mike) of Ottawa; and one son, Craig, with whom he resided. He also leaves to mourn his passing four grandchildren, Sheldon Bungay, Michael and Steven Wiseman, and Jasmine Goulding; three sisters, Chloe, Sadie and Nellie; three brothers, William, Sterling and Charles; other family members and friends. A service of remembrance, tribute and thanksgiving was held on Sunday, August 22nd at the Gambo Corps of the Salvation Army with Captains and Corps Officers, Wyclife and Shirley Reid officiating. Interment was conducted at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Gambo. Arrangements were entrusted to Pritchett's Funeral Home.

PARSONS, Gilbert -
Passed away peacefully at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on Friday, August 20, 2004, Gilbert Parsons of Wareham, age 89 years. Predeceased by his wife, Rachel Parsons (nee Wicks); brother, Sandy; sister-in-law, Pearl Parsons; brother-in-law, Robert Quirk. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sons, Alphas (Mabel) of Scarborough, ON; Norman (Anita) of Bowmanville, ON, Arthur (Sandra) of Scarborough, ON, Gilbert (Shawn) of Antigonish, NS, William (Kathy) of Oshawa, ON, and Cecil (Marcella) of Wareham; daughters, Martha (Claude) of Oshawa, ON and Dinah (Winfield) of Michael's Harbour with whom he resided; brother, Robert Parsons of Corner Brook; step-brothers, Fred Feltham (Pearl) of Brampton, ON and Ingwell Feltham (Margaret) of Gambo; sisters, Annie Quirk of St. John's and Maisie River (Clement) of Deer Lake; sister-in-law, Wendy Parsons of Glenwood; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. PRICE, Lester -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on Tuesday, August 24, 2004, loving husband, father and grandfather, Lester Price of Gander in his 67th year. Born in Loreburn on August 18, 1937, Lester worked at ATC for 32 years, and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Predeceased by his parents, Simeon and Minnie Price; brothers, Raymond and Bill: and sister, Annie. Left with loving memories are his wife, Shirley Price (nee Drover); son, Shawn (Kim) of Halifax; daughter, Lana (Rick) Malcolm of Gander; brothers, Stan of Mississauga, Ont., Clarence (Priscilla) of Eastport, NL; sisters, Mildred (Harold) Butler of Corner Brook, NL, Blanche Jacobs of Clarenville, NL; and grandchildren, Dylan and Ethan. Funeral service took place Saturday, August 28th from Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Inurnment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Arthritis Society. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

STANFORD, Cecilia -
Passed peacefully away at home in Glenwood, August 24, 2004, Mrs. Cecilia Stanford, age 81. she was married in Lewisporte in March 1938 and took residence in Gander in 1948. They moved to Glenwood after her husband retired from M.O.T. in 1969 and has resided in Glenwood for the last 35 years. Mrs. Stanford is predeceased by her husband, Archibald; father, Walter Wareham: mother, Mary Elizabeth Wareham; sons, Hedley and Gary Stanford; sister, Pheoby Phillips; brother, Baxter Wareham; niece, Shirley Elliott; grandchildren, Dennis Lush, Susanne Stanford; great-grandchild, Tyler Lush; son-in-law, Johnny Kelly; and brother-in-law, Hector Wheeler. Left with fond and loving memories are sons, Sterling of Glenwood, Winston of Gander, Donald and Margaret of St. Albert, Alberta; stepsons, Maxwell Stanford and Mildred of Alberta, Gordon Stanford and Audrey of Glenwood; daughters, Yvonne Lush and Abram of Gambo, Bernice Stanford and Wayne Gower of Truro, NS., Geraldine Kelly of Gander, Glowena Pelley and Calvin of Crystal Lake, ON, Lenitte Scott and Rodney of Norris Arm South, Darlene Stanford and Baxter Francis of Glenwood; brothers, Finley Wareham and Yvonne of Ladle Cove, Jack Wareham and Helen of Little Burnt Bay; sister, Grace Humby and Eliol Humby of Gander; 49 grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on August 29th from the Salvation Army Church in Glenwood. Interment followed at the United Cemetery, Glenwood. SHEPPARD, Alfred -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on August 25. 2004, Alfred Sheppard of Gander, age 79 years. Predeceased by his son, Bruce, parents, John and Francis Sheppard, brothers, Walter, George and Arthur; sisters, Evelyn Myrtis, Florence and Ethel, and mother and father-in-law, Winnie and Frank Pike. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Mary (nee Pike) of 54 years; daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Neil) Shea of Glenwood; son, Lindsay (Maureen) of St. Thomas, Ontario; four precious granddaughters, Danielle and Sara Shea of Glenwood, and Shannon and Shayla Sheppard of St. Thomas, Ontario; sister, Jane Sheppard of Montreal; sisters-in-law, Rowena Haynes (Neville) of Alberta and Helen Pike of Harbour Grace; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on Saturday, August 28, 2004 from St. Martin's Anglican Church, Gander. A committal service was held at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Grace on August 29, 2004. Donations may be made in his memory to the Renal Dialysis Campaign at the James Paton Memorial Hospital or the Carbonear Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander and Noel's Funeral Home, Carbonear.

O'RIELLY, John -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on Saturday, August 28, 2004, John O'Rielly, age 92 years. Predeceased by his wife, Martina in 1992. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sons, Aiden (Babs) of Charlottetown, PEI, Michael (Mona) of Golden, BC; daughters, Lillian Walsh of Kilbride, Margaret (Herbert Hynes) of Labrador City, Shirley (Donald Ballard) of Paradise, Angela (Jim Moriarty) of Harbour Grace, Josephine of Gander, Martina (John Saunders) of Dartmouth, NS, Sandra (Kirk Taylor) of Gander; grandchildren, Edna, Rene, Billy, Wanda Lee, Tanya, Lori, Shannon, Priscilla, Kristal, Danielle, Jonathon and Brittany, great-grandchildren, Kelsey-Lynn, Karley, Keith, Gregory and Nathan; brothers, William (Mary) of Gander, Leo (May) of Gander; sister, Helen Hogan of Gander; sisters-in-law, Rita Bridgeman of St. Brendan's, Rita O'Reilly of St. John's; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral mass was held on Monday, August 30th from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Donations in Mr. O'Reilly's memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association. WALSH, Mary "Leonce" -
Passed suddenly, but peacefully away at Etobicoke General Hospital, Ontario on August 29, 2004 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, Mary "Leonce" Walsh of St. Brendan's, age 64. Predeceased by her father, John D. Walsh; husband, Joseph; daughters, Darlene and Carol. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family; her mother, Bertha (residing in Fleur de Lys); sons, Gregory, Kevin (Tina), Aloyisious, Steven (Patricia), Dion (Tara); daughters, Sharon (Ron) and Margaret; her precious grandchildren, Harold, Matthew, Samantha, Nicholas, Noah, Joseph, Sarah, Megan and Laim; her brothers and sisters, Gordon (Clod), George (Millie), Kenneth, Johnny, Theresa (Pat), Eileen (Gerard), Ann (Ambrose), Madonna (Johnny), Cynthia and Evelyn. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Orem's Funeral Home, Glover town.
"She had a lifetime of living and loving and giving, and in gentleness raised her family with pride. She will be the sea breeze, the sunbeam, the rain drop and the rainbow. Watch them, touch them and feel her close to your side."

Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, Bert Bursey of Hare Bay, age 72 years. Predeceased by his parents, Gideon and Lydia Bursey; brothers, Edgar and Sandy; sister, Pearl; and brother-in-law, Milton Pritchett. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Maggie; daughter, Brenda Huber (Don) and an extended family of stepdaughters; Elsie Thornhill (Bob), Lorraine Pickett (Kirk), Florence Martinez (Nelson); stepsons, Daryl Collins (Gloria), Kevin Collins, Glen Collins, Gary Collins (Mary); brothers, Arch (Hazel), Peter (Sarah), Eli (Daphne), Cyril (Shirley), Milton (Monica), Don (Marg), Wayne (Sheila); sisters, Elizabeth Pritchett and Beathrice Rogers (Abe); sister-in-law, Sadie; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at Knox United Church, Hare Bay on September 4th. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery.
