It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edna Florence Bennett, formerly of Stephenville, announce her passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing on February 9, 2014 at the age of 75 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Crosby, her daughter Marie Bennett in Stephenville Crossing, her two grandsons Jaime and John, her brother George (Dulcie) in Baie Verte, her sister Margaret Ollerhead in St. John's, and a close circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Mary Michelin. Funeral services took place on February 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Augustine's Parish on Hillview Ave. in Stephenville, with interment of cremated remains following in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway. Gerald Scott Bungay, age 51, of Labrador City, NL passed away peacefully on February 6, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Scott was born in Springdale, NL on August 17, 1962. He was married to Tracey Gilbert-Bungay on August 31, 2013. Scott lived in Jackson's Arm, NL and worked various jobs in the area, such as the local crab plant, as well as an iron worker at the Hibernia project. He moved to Labrador City at 44 years of age. He worked at RM&S Company during his time in Labrador City.
Scott is survived by his mom Madeline Bungay (Cassell), wife Tracey Gilbert-Bungay, son Ryan Bungay, daughter Kristen Bungay, stepsons Patrick and Jacob Beson, sister Bernice Pittman, brothers Stanley (Alfreda), Wade (Donna) and Kevin (Wanda). He is also survived by a large circle of family and friends from Jackson's Arm and those that he met during his employment at RM&S Company. He was predeceased by his father Lester Bungay and brother-in-law Freeman Pittman.
Funeral service for Scott was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Labrador City on Feburary 11, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honour to the Bliss Murphy Cancer Center or Daffodil Place.
