Phone: 403-233-9444 Description : I am in hopes that someone out there can help me!! I am looking for a "MUNN" who moved to Newfoundland in the early 1800's from Nashwaak, New Brunswick. He was the son of Donald Munn a corporal from the 42nd Regiment of foot from Scotland. It is possible that the son I am looking for was also born in Scotland but moved to N.B. at a very young age and then on to Newfoundland as an adult. It is believed he was born about 1788. In an old old letter from a descendant of mine it states that this son of Donald Munn moved to Newfoundland and married a "Rice" Woman, but I am not sure about this. I have an extensive family tree completed for this family, about 3000 descendants in 11 generations and I am really hoping to locate this third son. Thanking you in advance for any help or suggestions you might have for me.

Description: I recently examined a headstone in a pasture land in St. Mary's, NL that was difficult to decipher, however I believe the inscription to be: Hannibal Murch departed this life on 31 December 1817 age 25. There were no other headstones in this field. I have since found a death notice in an April 9th 1881 edition of the Harbor Grace Standard as follows: Death at Boston, Mass., on the 18th ult., after a lingering illness, in the 83rd year of her age, Eliza., relict of the late Hannibal MURCH, Esq., for many years was Stipendiary Magistrate at St. Mary's in this island. Given the circumstances of the unusual headstone placing, I post this here in case someone might be researching that name.
