MOUNT PLEASANT CEMETERY - ST. JOHN'S


FIELD OF HONOUR

Dedicated and Consecrated on Jul 02 1983. Rededicated on August 29 1994. This site and surrounding area was the location of the joint Services Cemetery opened by The Government of Canada in 1941 for the burial of Canadian and Allied Servicemen who died in defence of freedom in and around Newfoundland during the 2nd World War. The Field of Honour was developed by Veterans Affairs Canada with the assistance of the Royal Canadian Legion to commemorate those who paid the supreme sacrifice for peace and freedom and as a honoured resting place for Canada's vetrans.
