| TREPASSEY A large fishing settlement on the southern part of the Peninsula of Avalon, district of Placentia and St. Mary's, with a fine harbor, often accessible when St. John's is filled with ice. The fisheries are carried on mostly by means of large boats, and agriculture and cattle raising is prosecuted with success. it is a post town and port of entry. Distant from St John's, via Renews by road 81 miles, fare by steamer fortnigtly $4. Mail fortnightly, Population 514 |
