| SALMONIER (St. Mary's) A fishing settlement at the head of St. Mary's Bay, district of Placentia and St. Mary's. A beautiful river of the same name flows into the bay in which considerable quantities of salmon are caught. The people are engaged in farming to some extent. It is a post town. Distant from St. Mary's by road 16 miles, from St. John's by road 49 miles. Mail fortnightly. Population 346. |
