LOWER BURGEO
A large fishing settlement with a considerable trade, district of Burgeo and La Poile. It is a post town and a port of entry and the packet station for the western mail route. Distant from Harbor Briton by packet boat once a fortnight 111 miles, and from St. John's by steamer once a fortnight 330 miles, fare $9. Mail fortnightly. Population 620.
