LITTLE PLACENTIA
A large fishing settlement on the east side of Placentia Bay, district of Placentia and St Mary's. This is a post town and a packet station for the overland western mail route. The population are engaged in farming and salmon fishing besides the cod fishery. Distant from St John's 85 miles by road, from Placentia 5 miles by road. Population 383.
