La POILE
A fishing settlement in La Poile Bay, district of Burgeo and La Poile. It was until lately a place of considerable trade. It is a post town. It also has a daily magistrate court. Distance from Burgeo by packet boat, once a fortnight 30 miles, from St. John's by steamer, once a fortnight. 378 miles, fare $10. Mail fortnightly. Population 65.
