HEAD OF BAY DESPAIR In the district of Fortune Bay, about 18 miles from the entrance to Bay Despair. In this bay is some of the finest scenery in Newfoundland; indeed, for beauty and grandeur it would be hard to find it surpassed. Up the bay, near its head, a stream of water falls directly into the sea from a height of 400 feet. Bay Despair is distant from Harbor Briton 35 miles. Population 40. |
