The most important cape in Newfoundland with a lighthouse on the peninsula of Avalon, district of Placentia and St. Mary's. It is supported by the Imperial government by a special toll on vessels benefiting by it, of a farthing per ton. Distant from Renewse 15 miles by boat. Mail fortnightly. Population 15.
