CAPE PINE
An important cape, with a lighthouse on the southern part of the peninsula of Avalon, in the district of Placentia and St. Mary's. From the westward, Cape Pine and Cape Race May be rounded with perfect safety if attention is given to the lead, the water gradually becoming shallower towards the shore, and at the distance of ten miles there is not more than 40 fathoms; with a depth of 30 fathoms, there can be no risk. Distant from Cape Race by boat 20 miles. Mail fortnightly. Population 19.
