Lovell's 1871 Provincial Business Directory
BARENEED
A large fishing settlement on the north side of Conception Bay in the district of Brigus. The village is prettily situated on a narrow neck of land that separates Robert's Bay from Portdegrave Bay. The population is mostly engaged during the summer in the prosecution of the Labrador cod fishery. Distant from Brigus by road 7 miles. Mail weekly. Population 460.
