Changes in Place Names in Harbour Main District - (Official and Un-Official)

Bacon Cove	Conception Harbour (inc. 1972) still referred to today as Bacon Cove, although they have dropped the Upper and Lower from the Bacon Cove
Broad Cove, CB	St. Phillips (Paradise area) (CBS - inc Sep 1, 1971)
Cat's Cove	Conception Hr. (c. 1870)
Chapel Cove	Harbour Main/Chapel Cove/Lakeview (inc. 1977) Hr. Main was Inc in 1965
Duff's	Holyrood (Southside) Duff's was never an official name, just a name given by the people of the area in order to idenitfly where a family may have lived, especially if there was more than on family with the same names.
Gasters	Avondale (incorporated c. 1901)
Hopewell	now part of Upper Gullies and Conception Bay South (Inc Sep 1, 1971)
Horse Cove	St. Thomas Line (Paradise)
Indian Point (Pond)	Seal Cove
Kitchuses	Conception Harbour (inc 1972) still referred to today as Kitchuses.
Lakeview	Harbour Main/Chapel Cove/Lakeview (still referred to as the separate community names as opposed to the official names.(NOTE: The name Lakeview appeared first in 1935. The community may have been known earlier as Wickelow (E.R. Seary: 1971).
Lance Cove	Seal Cove
Lower Gullies	Upper Gullies (now CBS - inc Sept 01, 1971)
Middle Bight	Codner (now CBS - inc Sep 01, 1971)
Millville	Avondale (TCH Access Road) was never officially an name just a name given by the people to idenitfly where a family may have lived, especially if there was more than one family with the same names.
Newtown	Was never an official name. This section on the Census refers the area know as the Salmonier Line area of Holyrood.
Salmon Cove, CB	Avondale (incorporated c. 1901)
Turk's Gut	Marysvale
Great Belle Isle/Bell Isle	Bell Island (June 11, 1896, name used Officially for the first time)
