Population in 1976 was 19

A former railway siding between Brigus Junction and Ocean Pond, near where Roache's Line joins the Trans-Canada Highway. The settlement's name no doubt originated from the surname Maher. In addition to employment from the railway, work was available in numerous sawmills operating in the area.
