HMS Buzzard

Pilley's Island

"H.M.S. Buzzard", the Royal Navy ship that surveyed
PIlley's Island harbour in 1895. The ship was captained
by Commander A M Farquar and the actual survey
was conducted by Lieut W H D Margesson, assisted
by Acting Sub Lieut R M Reynolds, RNR. The latter,
Reginald Michell Reynolds, was my grandfather.
His name is given to Reynolds Shoal in
the harbour. Other features bear the
names of other crew members.
