A 1934 photo of the Newfoundland Hotel on Cavendish Square.
It was built in 1926 for one million dollars on the site of the old
British "Fort William", as a private concern, then taken over by
the Newfoundland Governmant in 1931. Later, in 1949, it
became part of the Canadian National Railway hotal chain.
It was replaced with a new building in 1982.
