St. John's East District

St. John's East John Alfred ("Jack") Lawrence (1880 - 1962). Left St. John's, Nfld. and went to Grosse Pointe, Michigan, USA. Began as a clerk for "Lawrence Carriage Co, Ltd.", St. John's, as a teenager, emigrated to Ohio, USA where he became employed by the "Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co." and received the first "Service Award" of that company in 1913. Contributed by Lawrence David Rodger (January 2005)
