Philip Browne - Sound Island - mid 1800s

Sound Island
mid 1800s

Photo of my great great grandfather Philip Browne (1815-1892).
Philip Browne, a merchant, was mentioned in James Howley’s
diary as a supplier of his travel equipment at Sound Island.
The photo was found in my grandfather’s photo albums.

He had about twelve children. His father was Patrick Browne
(1791-1880), originally of Kilkenny, Ireland, and he had two
brothers Michael (1820-1904) and James (~1820-1856)
and a sister Catherine.
