Avondale Salmon Cove School 1935-37 School Children of Salmon Cove (now Avondale) Southside School. This picture was taken c. 1935-37. This picture is of school children that went to a one room school. Avondale had three 1 room schools, the one above, Avondale Northside and Avondale Central FIRST ROW - is a tiny little girl named Theresa Devereaux (she was not attending school, just in the picture). SECOND ROW - starting at the left with the gentleman with his hands in his pockets is my DAD (Raymond Patrick McGrath b. Oct 06, 1929); from him is an unidentifed person (male); right behind Theresa is Paddy Hicks; James Devereaux; and Rita Devereaux. SECOND ROW - starting on the left again is: Catherine Perry; Evelyn Parsley; Margaret Hicks; Josephine Cantwell; just a little behind Josephine is Mary Devereaux(Hawco); Greg Walsh; just behind Greg is Mary Pendergast; and Mary McGrath (Corbett); LAST ROW - starting at the left with the tallest girl there is: Rita Parsley; Nellie Perry; Chris Cantwell; Unknown (male); Madeline Walsh Contributed by Barbara McGrath
