George Chesley Allen on the HMS Calypso George Chesley Allen was born Sept. 25, 1880 in Topsail, Conception Bay, NF. He was the son of Frederick Allen and Maria Fowler. He died March 3, 1954 in Cornwall, ON. He was buried in the Topsail United Church Cemetery. George is pictured second from the left in this photo. I received this photo from George's son Warren Allen, Halifax, NS in June 1999. He wrote; "This is a copy of the photo showing my Dad (George Chesley Allen) as a member of the Royal Navy Reserve approx. 1905 - The name on the lifebelt is H.M.S. Calypso."
