Sr. Mary Althea Halley

Boston
1936

Photo of Mary Althea Halley, eldest daughter of
Captain John and Bridget Maude Halley (nee Lowry)
of Boston, but formerly of Horse Cove, Newfoundland.

This 1936 photo of "Sr. Dismas" (her religious name)
was upon entry into a RC Convent at Boston, MA.,
after having just completed High School. She was
my first cousin and I think she was born at Boston,
MA., USA in l916. She earned a teaching certificate
and was a teaching-nun and principal later, in the
Catholic Schools of MA.  She died at St Joseph's
Old-age Home, still a nun, in Framingham, MA..
Thanks to my cousin Donna Renkert of N.H.,
we visited Sister Dismas in the spring of 2006
finding her bright, alert and in good spirits.
