Darrell Bennett, his wife Annie (Godwin) Bennett with their
adopted
daughter
Emma (b. Sept. 28, 1937). She is the biological daughter of Annie's brother,
John Wm. Godwin (1912-1939),
and Minnie Freake (1915-?), both born
Joe Batts Arm and Bar’d Island.
Emma's grandson David Green, in
Toronto contacted me last year to say that Annie and Darrell were the
best parents to Emma, and she has wonderful memories. Annie, Darrell
and Emma moved to toronto in 1950, when Emma was 13 and lived on
Harcourt St., where she took in Newfoundland boarders. The reason
for the adoption was that both John Godwin and Minnie were
both very ill and couldn’t look after her.
