Burin District

Saumarez DuBourdieu
This is Saumarez DuBourdieu, my great grandfather.
He was born June 17, 1858 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The son of Anrdew DuBourdieu of Ireland and
Mary Marshall of Burin, Nfld. He married an
Annie Read of Burin, they lived in St John's and
later Port au Port where he was also known as
Augustine Saumarez DuBourdieu. Was a
newspaper man, a teacher, Justice of the Peace
and ran the Customs office in Port au Port.
He died in 1931.
