Lower Island Cove
circa (1897 - 1910)

A photo of my great-grandmother Susanna Snelgrove.
She was the daughter of James Snelgrove of Lower
Island Cove. She was born the 24th of December
1876, and died on the 22nd of October 1911.  She
was married the 21st of December 1896 to
Abraham John Snelgrove (1875-1964), son
of William James Snelgrove (1846-1924)
and Elizabeth Louis (1847-1933).

The child that she is holding is a boy and is thought
to be one of her children that died at a very young
age, perhaps Robert James born 1897, Gilbert
born 1905, or John Charles born 1909.
Susanna died when my grandmother,
Sarah Snelgrove (1907-2002) was
just 4 years old. This photo was
a fixture in Sarah's living room
during her lifetime.
